What a huge mistake losing Dr Stanhope. Had to see another provider, Dr Ho who is in our opinion horrible. Didn't listen. Accused our doctor of 10 years of being incompetent, he rushed through the appointment, took me off all the medicine that I have been on, would not listen to my concerns , he will not be someone I see again. I fell a couple of months ago and fractured some ribs I've been falling at that point Dr Stanhope was out I had to see Dr h o and he had ordered a brain scan and instead of going to the insurance company to make sure it got done he said he's not worried about it when I continue to have dizziness and headaches. It was very obvious to me that this doctor did not care. My wife and I have been patients of Dr Stanhope for over 10 years and have never been treated anywhere near what I dealt with today. This was the worst representation for pack medical that I have ever seen and we were many many years back some of the first patients of Dr pack when he came to town with his first wife kristen. I strongly suggest that if their Dr Stanhope was your provider and they tried to make you see this new guy did you find somebody else because this guy could really give a care less about your health. Keep in mind that we have been patients of our doctor for over 10 years and even when Dr Pat came to town originally with his first wife we saw them as well and we're extremely happy this is the first time that we've had them have a see someone who's so completely incompetent and quite honestly has put my husband's health in jeopardy read more

Definitely the best experience I ever had with a primary care physician's office!!! Dr. Tamtam was on vacation, but his nurse practitioner Jennifer Walker was totally on point and probably knew more than any PCM I ever met. She gave me the royal treatment, took her time going down the list, and addressed every one of my concerns by ordering a comprehensive blood panel, an x-ray, and a prescription for antibiotics to kill off my bronchitis. I am making her and Dr. Tamtam my go to from now on. I don't care if I have to drive up from San Antonio. It's well worth it! read more

To think, all of this could have been resolved two years ago with the first privately-reported prescription snafu. But no. Awful. What a terrible experience with this office (1770 State Highway 46W, New Braunfels). Repeated phone calls to resolve billing issues left me so angry I paid the bill just to be done with it. When I started receiving notifications that I no-showed for an appointment that I didn't have, with a PA who doesn't see patients in that office anymore (and didn't at the time of the bill) I phoned and left a message, then sent emails through the portal to try and resolve the issue. The only "response" I received has been 5 more emails telling me I have a past due bill. This one I'm not paying. I loved my doc, and sympathized with the front office staff who all had to learn a new system in the face of impatient patients, had to deal with all the complaints from those who either couldn't get anyone on the phone, had issues with the inept billing department or didn't receive needed refills in a timely manner. They're all gone now and so am I. read more

I was forced go to Pak Group-'Center of Excellence' HA!! My forever family doctor joined this group. His waitlist is too long to see him as he is the only professional in there. This group has grown too big, too fast becoming a monopoly of the Hill Country. Mainly the front staff is rude and degrading to patients. Communication is impossible as there is none. ex: I waited for 3 weeks to get approval for allergy test. Finally went today and was not told to not take antihistamine fo5 days prior. So left and had to rebook appt! Sad to say but a sign of the times... it's all about $$$. read more

What was once the best Dr.'s office in New Braunfels is now a joke. Terrible scheduling, disorganized, a complete mess. We have been customers for years here. We scheduled TWICE for a consultation and found out the first time that our Dr. is not in network anymore, what? Rescheduled a second time to find out that this Dr. who is in network does tele-appointments. So why even come to the office? They tell us they called and texted us, but only received a text reminding us to come into the office 30 minutes early only to find the offices CLOSED. Don't waste your time with Pak and whatever faceless corporation who bought him out. Terrible service. We still have not seen a Dr. after 1 month. read more

Worst network in the world. My Doctor got so fed up with them not allowing him to treat his long term patients he just retired! They lose your referrals, ignore requests through the text and portal lines for refills and if you are ill, you have to drive to an outlying city to visit whatever new provider they haven't filled up the schedule for yet. read more

If I could give this practice zero stars I would. I'm a senior citizen and have been a patient of Dr. Pak since 2018 and have received wonderful care from him in the past, but it has become increasingly difficult to get an appointment for the last year. I was just informed that an appointment for July 27 has been canceled and won't be rescheduled until November. I last saw Dr Pak in December 2023. I have a lot of chronic conditions and I feel like I have been left out in the cold with no recourse, but to find another primary care doc. I think it's pretty unfair to just leave a patient hanging instead of communicating that Dr. Pak just isn't working that much anymore. read more

PAK is not a medical clinic, it is a cost-benefit analysis health care debacle! I had a doctor in PAK and he gave orders for blood work in New Braunfels, TX. When I went, no orders, in fact, no prior blood tests or information for me was in the system. I went to the office and was advised all of my current and prior orders had been removed and I needed to drive 1 hour to Wimberly Texas to get a new set of orders from my doctor. I was infuriated and went home and called PAK and spoke to some MBA "better than tho" person, flummoxed by my comments and advised that he would send orders immediately. I not only received new orders but a portal from the company with my entire blood work over the last 5 years. At the same time, a portal was set up with my doctor. But the messaging took 2 days for my doctor to respond under their policy. It was impossible to work with this framework. I called and tried to get a message to my doctor for a needed refill and the operator on the phone was chewing gum and said he'd get a message to the doctor but I never heard back. After calling 3 times, I gave up. It was absolutely ridiculous and my doctor finally resigned. The entire experience would take multiple pages to explain the total incompetence of this clinic. But, the straw that broke the camels back was today. My pharmacy sent a refill request to PAK for a medication I need. Since my doctor had left a week before, you would think they would advise how to assist in this situation. But, no! My pharmacy called and said we just got the refill request back rejected. Of course, it was from PAK. No calls, no information, no text message, no e-mail, nothing. So, if you're looking for a doctor and you run into PAK, run do not walk, since they have nothing to offer by way of healthcare, since it's a nightmare. read more

The doctors seem really nice. The phone staff is needing help with requesting refills on prescriptions. The process is not a good process and is very stressful and some of the phone representatives cut you off as you're speaking and all you're doing is asking for help. It is a very frustrating process. I hope your experiences will be better than mine, but the doctors are nice. read more

Avoid this group at all cost!! My doctor left this place December 2024. First off, you get what you pay for as far as the office staff is concerned. You call and you are on hold forever. Then when you do finally talk to someone they #1 don't care or #2 they don't care! I just saw my doctor maybe 3 weeks ago, right before he left. I did my due diligence as a patient. On 01/07 I requested a refill until I can establish a new doctor, they denied it unless I made an appt. They scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out mind you and approved the refill only to deny it the next day. So because of their incompetence and lack of caring, I now have to go without my medication until I find my doctor. I take this medication because I need it!!! This place doesn't care about you, your family or your health. GREED!!! That's all it is............So if you've had a bad experience with this group as well, Please take the time to write a review. My wife and I have been with this practice for close to 3 years, we've seen 3+ Drs. In that time frame. They've implemented this horrible answering service who vets the calls and send the office a request to return my call. We can never get a hold of someone to even make sure we are on track with our bloodwork and physicals, God forbid we have a medical emergency. This place has lost their quality and care to provide to their patience hence why we are leaving this practice and will never recommend this practice to anyone who actually cares about their health. read more

I've been through like 2-3 Drs in my short time here as a patient. They all keep leaving. I wonder why?! I was very happy with the care I was receiving until they decided to stop taking my insurance. I had to change insurance and called them before I did to verify they would accept my new insurance. I scheduled a routine appointment and went in and was told they stop taking my new insurance as of 2/15/24 which is the day after open enrollment for insurance ends. Unfortunately it's all about the money now a days, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRACTICE FOR TREATING THEIR PATIENTS IN THIS MANNER. This is the worst medical group I have ever had to deal with! I have called 5 times to get a referral sent to my ins, it's now been 3 wks and still no referral. I had been going to tx health for 20+ yrs and never had a problem. Since moving to New Braunfels and trying to set up my drs here it's been nothing but a pain in my butt! Pak sold to Innovocare and they have cut vital services such as women's care and dermatology. They now make their existing dermatology patients go to the primary care Dr. to get an out of network referral. This is delaying care and creating an extra co-pay cost to the patient. The right thing for them to do would have been to establish dermatology and execute the referrals immediately. read more

All my interactions here have been great, I've seen 2 different NPs, and both were attentive to my concerns and proactive in trying to help. The staff has shown empathy and attention at every visit. I've recommended to a couple of friends and they've also voiced feeling heard and taken care of. read more

The scheduling for this group alone is an absolute nightmare and I cannot believe they think senior citizens want to speak to someone in another country that they cannot understand to schedule an appointment after waiting on hold for 45 minutes. I am appalled. And shocked. And disheartened that a physician group would think this is acceptable. No really. Please demand better for your loved ones and go somewhere else. Three hours and waiting for a referral. Apparently nobody at this office knows how to use a fax machine, and they obviously do not care about the severity of the issue. Getting anything done through Pak is horrible. A current example, my request for mammogram for 2024 was sent to Resolute Imaging by Pak. I made an appointment and last week week, I get to Resolute, put on gown and waiting for nurse to do the mammogram. She comes in and said Pak had sent the wrong request, they had sent last year's and they would have to request another. Today I get a call from Resolute Imaging, Pak had not sent the request for mammogram, but sent a request for bone density. I called Pak and spoke to a man in Florida with a broken accent, he said he would send another one. If this were an isolated case, i would not complain, however, it happens very frequently. I love my doctor and I wish he would get out of Pak Medical Group. Its maddening!!! read more

I have stage four breast cancer. Due to insurance I was forced to find a new PCP- finally finding one here in December 2023 I was happy to get it done to get a referral. Now I am needing new info sent to my oncologist & the representative is tellling me that just TWO WEEKS after finding a new PCP here on Dec 16- that as of Jan 1 you stopped taking my insurance coverage!!!? WHY WOULD YOU EVEN ALLOW ME TO BE SEEN!!??? NOW I HAVE TO GO LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PCP LIKE ITS MY FULL TIME JOB. LIKE IM NOT ALREADY FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE EVERYDAY- PLEAAASE WHY DONT YOU MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO GET MY TREATMENTS I HAVE TO BE ON FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!! why wouldn't they tell me you weren't going to continue taking it so I didn't even waste my time???? This is the worst practice I have seen. I agree with everything that Amy has stated! I personally have an incurable disease that attacks every part of my system, and I went for their help several times! I tried Dr. Westmoreland and then tried Dr. Bartay. I ended up in the hospital twice because they claimed that I wasn't eating better when my blood sugar was low and high, and then when I shook uncontrollably during the night, somehow I got ahold of Dr. Bartay and he stated it was anxiety and ti give me Valium, I did not want such a strong drug, and I ended up having fever. Then they said they would help over prescriptions and notify the doctor about my hospital visit, not one phone call. They don't care about patient care. On top of that no vitals were checked or weight check! read more

Zero stars!! It was all good until March when they stopped taking my insurance. Never told me. I had to find out when I went to get my medication refilled at the pharmacy and couldn't get them to do the pre-authorization I called over there no less than 10 times, sent text messages, sent two emails begging for an answer and got nothing. At that point I found a new PCP. It's 5 months later and they still haven't released my medical records. Got a letter a couple of days ago that Dr. Buchanan and FNP Anne Shackelford are leaving there the end of September. I don't blame them! It's a terrible place! read more

My husband and I started at Pak medical before it was sold this most recent time. It was great! But after it was sold our doctor left th le practice which was fine buy the quality of care for patients went way down. Appointments being cancelled day of due to doctors have "meetings". This is unacceptable when a patient takes time off from work losing income and you cancel right before they are supposed to be at your office and offering no alternative. We are leaving pak medical and will be telling everyone our experiences. read more

I had an emergency room visit back in February and whilst the Dr. at Resolute, a hospital I wouldn't recommend AT ALL, they referred me to PAK MEDICAL GROUP. I'm honestly sincerely grateful for their kindness, their bed side manner and meticulousness "dotting every 'I and crossing everything T' in the process of/per my individual needs." This group us fantastic and FNP NATALIE B. and her staff at the Canyon Lake location is squared away! Compassionate for the patients needs, considerate of the situation, excellent response time and overall A+ SERVICE WITH THIS GROUP! There are two locations here in NB, TX, one on Common Street and Canyon Lake, the one I am a patient at.... And am grateful to have found! GOD BLESS THIS GROUP AND ALL THEY DO! read more

Kind of disappointed, just moved to the area, need to see a doctor, just assigned to this clinic through the military, was told new patient appointments are two weeks out, what do you do if you're sick? I don't understand...... hopefully someone fixes this system. The whole point of being assigned to a clinic near your home is to be provided medical service when the SM cannot get into base, a two week out medical appointment is the reason why some people just give up going to the doctor. read more

My parents are elderly and they moved from Phoenix to New Braunfels, TX and started going to this doctor's office. They fell that Dr. Gonzalez is a great doctor but the medical staff is the worst I have EVER dealt with. Its so unfortunate that the staff can not be bothered and always states "I promise, I will do it" and NONE of them do. Prescriptions are not sent to the pharmacy. Records that require my Dad see a specialist are NEVER forwarded. Requesting a return phone call is NEVER returned. I honestly feel this is the worst DR office staff I have ever dealt with! Very unimpressed with every interaction that I have had with Pak Medical Group. Initial appointment was with Ashley the nurse practitioner and Nikki was the nurse that assisted her. I found Nikki's demeanor to be extremely unprofessional throughout my initial visit, and every time after that I spoke with her. After lab work had been ordered, I had to call each time to get the results after waiting a week or more to hear back on the labs that they had ordered. Getting a referral to see a dermatologist has taken multiple calls to their office to get right. Things that just seem to happen with little effort at other doctors offices all require multiple follow ups on the patient's part with Pak Medical. Unfortunately, I will have to start the search again for a new provider as these issues have been persistent each and every time I have interacted with this office. read more

How does one know if the medical care that they are receiving is appropriate? The answer is this: YOU DON'T. When is the last time that you had a complete history and complete physical. I bet that you've never had one. Just because a healthcare provider is nice to you means nothing. You are not paying for their demeanor, but rather their brain power and their education. Check out all of your healthcare providers by going to consumer sites like this and by using the services of the online licensee reports on the Texas Board of Health site. Just remember that the Texas Board of Medicine does not police the healthcare provider...it is a self-reporting system. That is why your fellow consumer can help you. I had been with PAK for about 2 years, and seen 4 different NPs. One just left the practice without informing me of abnormal labs. When my doctor retired, Pak Med Grp refused to assign me to another doctor within the group. Dropping an established patient from the group, leaving that elderly patient to scramble for a new doctor, should be medical malpractice. Stay away from this outfit. read more
