It was a surprise down in Pala. It is located about 20 miles away from the Oceanside Mission, St. Louis Del Rey. It's a small area located on a Native American reservation in Pala. The grounds and gardens are very lovely. Serene and peaceful. The original cemetery is still there. The chapel was open on this Saturday that we visited. They had beautiful frescoes and their stations of the cross were really spectacular. There's a Bell tower which interestingly is one of the few that is separate from any building. It has two bells in it both made in Mexico. The stillness and serenity and opportunity for meditative reflection were exquisite. Sadly, the museum is only open on Saturdays and we were not there on the correct Saturday as it is only twice a month. If you want to go to the museum and gift shop, then you will need to plan ahead and call to make sure that they are open. But the church and mission were really the main thing that I wanted to see. What a treasure!

Was told it was open only the 2nd & 4th sat of the month 10-4pm. So I prepared to go the 2nd sat. Which is today. We only saw one car in the parking lot, but still walked around to the museum & gift shop. Door was locked. Knocked. No answer. Tried calling the number. No answer. I understand that it is one of the smaller missions but still they should have something written/updated on the door, website, &/or voicemail. Would love to give them another try, because I need this last stamp. but I'm afraid if I come on the 4th Saturday I would just be setting myself for disappointment. Please be more accessible. You can visit here and leave that mask at the door. I love everything about this church. The services are packed with that energy to face whatever type of week you've had. They have a Facebook and Instagram to stay connected via social media. Services are interactive. Technology friendly. You won't get ugly looks for using your bible app. Music is done right and you appreciate the collective sound and quality of each worship members gift. They also host so many small groups if you want more connectivity. Their website has them all listed. I don't have kids, but the childcare is done right. Parents check kids in and out quickly and are given a restaurant style pager just in case they are needed for whatever reason. Very cool. But most importantly this place peaches the Word with love and no condemnation "we're all going to hell" style. I've never felt so loved by God since I've started attending here. Another cool thing is this Celebrate Recovery group they have. I think that's so awesome. A biblical based program for anyone with hurts, habits and hang-up's.. aka all of us!! ;) I can't say enough how blessed I feel to have discovered this place on yelp. Who would have thought it was here all along?! Check it out. My favorite service is Sunday night at 5:30. Full concert worship service, and the same message if you missed the morning service. My only recommendation is that a bike rack be installed near the main building. I have to lock my bike on a fence, far from public areas, and even at church I'm all qookie about it. #trustissues But doesn't bother me enough to knock down the rating. As someone who has been around the school for 5+ years, I can confidently say that things are going and have gone downhill. The education itself isn't bad, but for the majority of students, the curriculum isn't as challenging as other schools. The biggest issue, though, is the church and leadership that isn't in the right place. Scott Treadway has said some things that don't reflect Jesus or the Bible. In fact, he has said, and I quote (paraphrasing, because I didn't bother to hear that tomfoolery) "The Bible is just some stories". I genuinely can't comprehend how he could say something like that. However, he gets away with it by his speech and use of words. News flash buddy; you can't just say something and then tie Jesus into it. That doesn't make it right. You preach Jesus' word, not your own. The church is a mess too. It used to have "Christian" in the name, but they took that out. Why guys? There was also an incident regarding a church group that was about including all races and everyone is equal and loved by God. Sounds good, right? Well, it would be if not for them only allowing white people to attend to hear the message. I wish this wasn't true, but sadly, it's happened. I pray that God may help or remove Scott from power, as he's not doing well.

Then he made us stand up and told everyone not to get so comfortable and everyone needs to serve in the Church and who ever does not serve is a loser. He said a couple of negative words which were not necessary. His teaching was a little confusing he went from one book to another he did not specify what verse only chapter. Idk if he was against God or with God. His preaching was confusing. There is a lot of nice people in that church I felt bad. Let's focus on the word of God and limit negative words. We come to church to hear the word of God. 2 positive starts go for the people serving there doing there best and the worship team. God bless this church.

The weekend of Oct 24 I was here for a quilt retreat which was my first one ever so I have nothing…read moreto compare to. For reference I am 42. Food was lovely! Very tasty. Quite the mix too. Maybe that was just the weekend I was there. The weather was quite hot and one time the 'side' was a soup. It looked lovely but none of us really went for it. Portions were on the smaller side, but the group I was with was mostly 70+ in age. I did want an extra korean rib and they said things were portioned for the number in the group. But if there was some left I could come back and grab one. Makes sense. The conference rooms had fridges and kitchenettes so you could store any food/drinks you brought with. Also coffee and creamer every morning. If you have not been, keep in mind this is a NUNNARY. Rooms and facilities are very basic. Beds were fine. Each room has AC and a bathroom with shower. My one gripe is they had lots of standing water around the property. Which means mosquitos and I definitely came home with bites. Also the pool was non-operational. Which I planned to use since one day was 85. I do hear prices are going up again next year. I guess it is what it is.

I really hate to say the price keeps going up and the quality is going down. The food used to be amazing! The selections awesome! Sunday brunch was just like I was going out to a fine dining place. Unfortunately, the last few years the quality and selection is not the same for all the meals. I feel someone is budget shopping for ingredients and the chef is trying to make the best he can with what he is given. But it's not worth what I am paying. I shouldn't have to bring I food to supplement the food I am already paying for. Their ice tea used to be wonderful but now you know it's not real brewed tea. This weekend, trash not emptied, ice not replenished, paper towels out in the coffee area, they are adding water to the soap in the bathroom to make it last longer, etc. prices are going up but services are going down. The staff are amazing but it seems like they are really limiting the quality of what they can do. If you need to raise prices to keep quality it these tough economic times it ok! But don't raise prices and lower quality without written notice of what you are doing.

Sometimes the screen does go through some bible quotes a bit too fast for me. I make sure to get bible app ready incase I do need to pause and reflect. I think those moments are the most meaningful for me because then I can have a personal conversation with God; so don't worry if the pastor doesn't get your message every Sunday, just know that if your intentions are family focused, community friendly, and you come to church with an open mind and an open heart, you will find the right message from God. Psalm 139: David's praying to God and he says, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." This speaks of the care and attention with which God has made us.

Being a young black family it is hard to find a church in this area where my children can see all different types of people and explore the diversity in Gods kingdom. I'm not talking about just race but language, economic status, age, EVERYTHING that makes us unique but one in Christ. This church is bible teaching and heavy on scripture during sermons. Full of truth and not afraid to go deep and point out current events or whatever feels right! Prophetic as far as healing prayers and things (personally mew to this type of prayer) but wouldn't have it any other way. I am so happy to have found this church and plan to call it home for as long as the Lord allows me to
