The shop doesn't open straight onto the main road but is still right in the Santa Fe plaza. From Palace Ave you go through some iron gates and through an outdoor hallway. It can look like you're not supposed to be there, but you are, so don't be put off - this gem is well worth the few extra steps! If you appreciate books you'll love this place. Don't miss it!

Mr. Nicholas Potter, Bookseller of Santa Fe, advised our search (from California and New Mexico) and introduced us to the Limited Edition Classics, although he did not currently have a copy. When we found a copy through a different bookseller in Pennsylvania, we consulted with Mr. Potter on that purchase. It turns out he knows that bookseller (clear across the country) and he vouched for the validity of his descriptions and his business practices. Clearly he is dedicated to the profession.

My gal didn't know it, but I was having trouble finding a hard cover of the first book of the "Game of Thrones" series. I figured if anyone had it, Beastly would. We arrived direct from driving up from Albuquerque. We found the place easily enough, and walked in to a wonderful smell of coffee. The fella at teh register also made all kinds of concoctions. We had to get a cup after that, and it was excellent coffee. It's a brightly lit spot which was great. Along with the coffee aroma it also had some pine like smells I imagine from the woodwork of the shelves. That or the side room they had a spot they were doing some construction on what looked like an expansion. And of course they had plenty of hardcovers, so with a bit of subterfuge my daughter got the book so we could give it to my wife. It worked out great. Next time back we will have to check out his bar next door, as it was closed at the hour we were in town.

Thank you for allowing readers to not only touch but leaf through your rare collection, this is quite unimaginable in most used and rare book stores. I never thought I would be able to flip through a first edition of Oliver Twist as well as view original pamphlets that Dickens' works were printed in (ephemerals, as I learned). I hope to come in again the next time I am in town!
