It can be difficult to find books for an eccentric like me, as I am always in the search for works in philosophy, religion, history, etc. Their selection is generous in choices in these categories as well as others, and I have already found 2 books I need for graduate school (and under $15 a piece!). Thank you for allowing readers to not only touch but leaf through your rare collection, this is quite unimaginable in most used and rare book stores. I never thought I would be able to flip through a first edition of Oliver Twist as well as view original pamphlets that Dickens' works were printed in (ephemerals, as I learned). My gal didn't know it, but I was having trouble finding a hard cover of the first book of the "Game of Thrones" series. I figured if anyone had it, Beastly would. We arrived direct from driving up from Albuquerque. We found the place easily enough, and walked in to a wonderful smell of coffee. The fella at teh register also made all kinds of concoctions. We had to get a cup after that, and it was excellent coffee. It's a brightly lit spot which was great. Along with the coffee aroma it also had some pine like smells I imagine from the woodwork of the shelves. That or the side room they had a spot they were doing some construction on what looked like an expansion. And of course they had plenty of hardcovers, so with a bit of subterfuge my daughter got the book so we could give it to my wife. It worked out great. Next time back we will have to check out his bar next door, as it was closed at the hour we were in town.

According to Jim, the owner for the last several decades, this store is the biggest collection of Spanish-language materials in the United States (with something like 80,000 volumes!). Jim is very knowledgable and friendly, and we talked for over an hour. I came away with a handful of vintage art postcards and some exciting reading recommendations!

Thrown into the bargain? Just a fantastic little comic bookstore with a nice selection of vintage and new graphic novels and poster memorabilia. Prices were actually very good considering the market. Found a great old MAD magazine for a great price. By the train station? You should stop in for sure.
