Ok let's break it down, the Palace is a great watering hole. The bartenders are great, the food is great and there is bowling, pool,darts, just fun things to do. If you're ever there Torie is one of the best, Taylor will also learn your name and address you by it, with drink in hand. last Saturday I had a bridal shower at the palace in their upstairs large room. I had met with Sarah and Victoria to plan this shower that was about 60 people. I asked specifically for what I wanted and they did above and beyond. Sara was very accommodatin, she helped set up, she also served the beer/wine during the shower. and she did also make the mimosas. I will definitely have another event at the palace. such good people. and they did so much to accommodate us and definitely impacted our event. we were so thankful...truly appreciate the new owners!! read more

The bartender was a real nice gal but after that things went down hill rapidly. The menu under the new ownership is severely limited and even worse is the actual food. Three people in our group opted for a roast beef sandwich and nobody recognized this sandwich as having roast beef. It was definitely NOT roast beef or even a reasonable facisimilie thereof. Although pastrami was not on the menu these faux roast beef sandwiches tasted like a salted meat similar to pastrami. The amount of meat that was on the sandwich was truly minuscule which given the taste of the meat was a good thing. Everyone wanted fries as a side dish but NOPE, sorry those are an extremely rare commodity so how about tater tots instead. Not sure what would've happened if someone had ordered fish and chips, maybe they would've offered fish and mashed potatoes. I had a steak salad that was mundane at best. The steak was tough and over cooked but at least I could identify it as steak meat. I'm not complaining about the beer because it was good and cold. We did want to bowl afterwards but amazingly they shut the bowling alley down at 4pm. I mean bowling after 4 pm is a questionable situation since bowling is inherently dangerous, so I understand why closing early would be an important decision for a business owner. I have basically "called" every situation that has occurred in the short period of transition (by no means a meritous claim) but still am always dumbfounded that a business can be so short-sighted. The first person "hired back", was Jeanne, who had and was working basically every position there, who busted her ass so that you could put your best foot forward, even as the timeframe needed was progressively shortened during the process....working more hours than you are even aware....out of a sense of obligation and honor.....freely offering intimate knowledge, suggestions, insight into prior points of contention, price points, drink recipes etc,,,,,,and as you have found, doing the job of multiple people as if it were the norm.....who was promised by you, that they would make more money than they EVER had working for Casey and would have her choice of shifts, has instead watched as numerous people have been hired, haphazardly trained,even worked overtime when Jeanne clearly stated she was available. Jeanne was approached 3 times and asked about her availability for shifts, yet the more available she made herself, the more she was marginilized, moved from shifts where customers looked forward and made special trips to see her, to daytime weekday shifts then to one day a week....a Monday....probably the worst shift possible. What a slap in the face to a loyal employee and what a disservice to customers, who, from all I have heard, say that service has taken a nosedive and the consensus is,the whole "feel" of the place has changed. And I know, that can all be written off as "people dont like change", " there needs to be an adjustment period, "..."perceptions always favor the established and comfortable....." But that is not your greatest loss. Your greatest loss is the bright spot in the room that people looked for when they walked in the door....perhaps the sole reason peope continue to return to a place of business......a sense of belonging.....a friendly face, a genuine smile, and yep Cheers said it best, "A place where everybody knows your name".....only it doesn't take "everybody"....it just takes ONE person......ONE person who greets you, takes the time to ASK your name, pays attention to the story about your sick dog, so that next time they come in they are greeted by name, their beer of choice is poured and they are astonished as they are asked "How is Buster doing on his medication?".......I have watched people tear up in amazement over the fact that not only did someone listen to them, but actually genuinly cared. The grumpy old man who sat alone at a machine in the casino, who no one ever said two words to....the lost cause, who one day gets engaged with, given a smile, congratulated on a small win, who opens up in small ways, perhaps shares a small tragic story, a brief insight into their world, and cracks the hard veneer they have built aouround their hurt and pain and trusted someone enough to allow them in.....if only a bit. These are the people who will champion a business, who see a value beyond a facade or storefront, and feel a sense of belonging and family. COUNTLESS customers have remained customers ONLY due to the fact that Jeanne decided to remain there, and of late have remarked "Where are you?.....why don't we see you anymore?.....we miss you......and now, well, we won't be going there if you're not going to be there..." This holds especially true for a bartender. A good bartender is a people person,....a GENUINE person, a NON-JUDGEMENTAL person. This is something that people are instinctively drawn towards, because such a person is a novelty, and a part of your life that make you feel more a part of life in general. They are inclusive and draw you in, not in a pushy or manipulative way, but because that is who they are, at their core......they value the downtrodden and fight for the underdog and see through those who loudly boast and have a way of tactfully taking them down a notch and humbling even the most arrogant while still allowing them to retain their dignity. They can not only hold their ground, but also de-escalate a situation with the right words at the right time. You can't train a person to be this way, you can't pay a person to be this way, and when you run across such a person, you do everything in your power to keep them close, because it is such a rare and precious and generally unappreciated commodity,.....until it is absent. Yes, businesses will go on......they survive in spite of themselves and bad decisions that get made....well, sometimes they survive.....and sometimes people decide to go where they are recognized, and greeted, and appreciated.....and made to feel at home. It is unfortunate that you have lost that......more unfortunate that it seemed not to matter. read more

If you're young and looking to get food and alcoholic beverages here I'd go somewhere else. The waitress accused my group of friends & I for fake ID's and then had the bartender come and make sure they weren't fake. He also had to apologize for her. She then took about 20 minutes to come and get our drinks after our ID's had been inspected and after we'd already been there almost half an hour. Food was fine but the whole ordeal of the ID's really kind of set the mood for the dining experience. She never once apologized and barely took after our table after it had happened. read more

This place used to be great. After luke left a year ago and the new servers, cooks and bartenders , everything is just sub par. Zero service, food has went to crap and the owner KC is more interested in talking about his Tim in Mexico vs keeping his bar clean , stocked , and presentable. Laurel deserves better. First the bowling side is amazing! Everyone was quick and fast. But then you go onto the bar side, the guy was a total dick. He told us that something that was on the board wasn't the price, it read $6.00 for a pitcher and he proceeded to charge us for more. We then pointed out that on the fridge it says $6 but it wasn't. He then got snappy with us, I believe his name is Whitney?? But he was rude not to me but also this other guy complaining as well. Who also was over charge. Did not leave a tip because he ignored us multiple times. I know it's a bar but he just kept walking away. Terrible service, love the ladies that work there though. We came to this bar for the first time today. Honestly the worse service I've had since living in montana. The gals that run the bowling alley were phenomenal!! However, the bartender was absolutely atrocious. First he was trying to say my ID was fake and I would cause him to get a fine. Which okay, fine. I showed him another ID and he asked me what time I was born? Chalked it up to he was having a bad day. And still tipped 50%. Then we went to order another drink, as I was looking at my phone to read the ingredients of a drink I wanted, he yelled, "you can't be on your phone while ordering a drink in my bar" Who gives a shit? He then proceeded to tell us that this is his career and that we need to have respect for him and his bar. We didn't get a drink the second time but my friends went back to order again and he asked them if the drink was for me and if so they wouldn't be served. I've had some bad customer service before but this tops it! Definitely won't be back again. The bar being empty on a Saturday night goes to show what kind of business is being ran.
