My wife and I were very particular about refinishing the hardwood floors in our new beach house. The existing floor had a depressingly dark red-brown stain and we wanted a much lighter finish. In doing a proper due diligence we got quotes from three companies and, unhesitatingly, chose Palermo Flooring. WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS. Admittedly, their price was a touch higher but what we got in return was extreme professionalism, work done in a timely manner, the workers were very careful and thorough, the work was beat, and the office was responsive and helpful. Palermo helped fix a bad floor refinishing job (by a different contractor) at my apartment. I was concerned because another company had told me that they couldn't refinish the floors because the floorboards were too thin and couldn't be sanded down, nor could they put poly on top. I found a separate contractor willing to do the job, but he left the floors with a gross, splotchy finish. Unlike those guys, Matt knew exactly what to do and was willing to work to restore my original flooring to glory. The Palermo Flooring team was wonderful from start to finish! We received a prompt call back from Danielle to schedule a consult with Matt. Matt advised us that our floors were indeed hardwood (not composite) so could be refinished and explained which sander would do the best job. Bruno and his partner were on time, kept everything very clean, and stayed in touch throughout the two days they worked here. To say the floors look like new is an understatement! The deep scratches are gone, the surface is smooth, and the orangey hue from the old varnish is replaced by a beautiful matte sealer that allows the wood grain to shine. I have been planning to install a new floor in my home for years, but was not keen on the disruption, the cost and the risk if anything went wrong. Palermo Flooring exceeded my expectations on all my concerns. I visited Floor+ Décor's new store in Farmingdale, where they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. An Installer from Palermo was on site ( Frank Belloma) and put all my concerns to rest. My floor was installed without incident the day after Christmas, the crew was clean and skilled at their trade. They took care of everything! The owner Matt facetimed me during install to make sure things were going well and I was satisfied. My house was thoroughly cleaned and dusted at the end of the day. Frank Belloma, the PM actually took care of some extra materials needed for my apartment and brought them to my residence. At the end of the day I was so pleased I could not believe it. A day later I noticed my closet doors were not hung just right, all I needed to do was call Gilbert on the install team and he came by that evening and adjusted the doors perfectly. Palermo was the best! Their price was slightly higher than two other estimates; however, they were worth 10x the difference (although that was certainly NOT the case). Mr. Matt Bruno explained that they pay close attention to detail & that is so true. The installers were top notch, professional, & gave us confidence about every detail, even making recommendations that we were very happy with. The clean up was terrific as they took great care to be neat & clean up any residual mess. Don't hesitate to contact Palermo for an estimate & keep in mind that "you get what you pay for.". This is SO true! We will call them first when we get around to installing new bathroom floors as I can't imagine another firm doing better work reasonably priced. Palermo Flooring refinished the floor in my bedroom. Matt came exactly on time to look over the job and give the estimate. After interviewing other vendors, I found Palermo's price to be very fair and reasonable. They did a fantastic job!! Three men from the company moved the furniture out, removed old carpeting, sanded, stained and applied 3 coats of polyurethane. This took 3 days. Two days later, after the finish dried, they moved all the furniture back exactly where it was and even remembered to reconnect the TV in the cabinet. The color of the new floor is a perfect match to the existing wooden floors which abut the bedroom. Palermo flooring is an excellent company and extremely responsive, Ashley, the woman who works in the office, answers emails promptly. It was a pleasure to deal with her, Matt and the men who actually did the floors. Everything was very neat and clean. I highly recommend Palermo!!! read more
