Being new to Long Island, I researched so many flooring companies and vetted them through estimates/consultations. I chose KO flooring after seeing samples of their work, responsiveness to my inquiry (Nick answered my message immediately and made himself available to come to my home asap), family run business, and their willingness to accommodate my needs as a pregnant mother with a toddler. Nick and his father are both lovely people and practice what they preach when it comes to the "old school" mentality of delivering quality work and ensuring client satisfaction. There was one thing I was unhappy with upon delivery of service and he sent a worker back to fix it. This act speaks volumes, not only to his character, but his dedication to ensuring a happy client for years to come. Being a part time designer I've had dealings with plenty of craftsman and can assure you this was an excellent experience. If I had to do it again, I'd hire KO Flooring. read more

I contracted with Nick at KO floors to install Red Oak hardwood but he installed White Oak instead. He did this without my consent. Red Oak was clearly in my contract and Nick knew the rest of the house was Red Oak. Now it does not match the rest of my Red Oak floors. When I asked him what happened he lied and told me it was a mistake by his distributor however I was informed by one of his employees that Nick used the White Oak wood cause he had it in stock and saved money. Not a nice thing to do to your customer who spent close to 20k with his company. So I would not recommend KO Flooring or Nick to anyone. read more

We got estimates from 4 flooring contractors prior to deciding on KO Flooring. The prices were all over the place and really what's most important is value ! KO provided a reasonable price and great work. We are from Manhattan back to Long Island and knew we didn't want to pay for someones huge rent D&D building. We wanted someone that can deliver what they say. Kevin tells it like it is ! He really does know what you want when it comes to wood floors. His crews are amazing workers, I couldn't believe how much quality work they accomplished in a day. I used to be in the contracting business many years ago so I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly of Contractors !! KO (Kevin) is the best ! Ended at the police station! Before signing a contract or even getting a verbal commitment, Nick took it upon himself to order the materials. We hesitantly moved forward anyway (big mistake). On day 1, the crew refused to fill seams so we had to do it ourselves. Nick said they could match the floors to our other new floors, but they did not! They didn't even use the stain we told them to use! One room was finished with a massive swirl of clumpy polyurethane on the floor that must have been spilled by them. We also have spills of polyurethane on our bathroom floor tile, bathroom vanity, bedroom door, and bedroom floor (rooms not even worked on). It got even worse when Nick came over on an unscheduled day and BROKE INTO OUR HOUSE with his ladder to finish up the job. We called Nick to tell him we were disappointed, but he yelled and hung up on us. Left with such a bad feeling about him, we decided to give him final payment in a police precinct parking lot. So glad we did! The owner (his father...not Nick, like he had said) arrived late, was yelling in our faces, refused to give us the paid receipt, and yelled "I'M GONNA SMACK THE SHIT OUT OF THIS GUY!" (all caught on camera) so we took the conversation inside the precinct. Once inside, the owner continued his verbal tirade and aggressively moved toward me, causing the police officers to quickly intercept and escort both him and Nick out of precinct. Satisfied with the first job (with the exception that two voids that I expressly asked Kevin to fill during his job estimate visit, were not done by the workers when they did the job. They obviously weren't told of my desire, though I would have also assumed that this would be part of the procedure.) Both workers worked hard and had a good work attitude, not often seen these days. I paid cash for the job and tipped the workers, ready to proceed with additional jobs throughout the house shortly thereafter. I called Kevin a few weeks later, got a phone estimate for two more rooms and was told that they would be here in two weeks. I then emptied the rooms, as I had done with the first room, to make it as easy as I could for them. (and not so easy for this senior citizen) They never showed up or called. I would just like to say that I highly recommend K.O. Floors. They just completed full downstairs replacement (engineered hardwood) of my floor as well as refinished the hardwood in my mud room. Beyond stellar job. The workers, despite the heat, worked tirelessly and quickly. They were on time, cordial and well mannered and got the job done unbelievably fast. This review is way overdue but due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to submit sooner. K.O. Floors installed new flooring in a bedroom and the adjacent hallway and the floors look like CRAP. They also refinished the living room floor and staircase which also isn't the best. This job was supposed to take 1-2 weeks and after given more than enough chances to fix what was wrong which it still isn't right took 3 months! The new floors were sanded 4 times due to their mistakes and are now full of ripples, uneven coloring and staples showing in a lot of spots. You can see circular sand markings on the new floors and the existing floor that were refinished. When the staircase railing was refinished the stain got all over my white balusters. All my floor moldings either had to be touched up or replaced, walls had to be touched up from the scuff marks and stain. One of the bedroom door moldings was cracked and had to be replaced. At this point I said I wanted a full refund to have it all redone by another company but was told by law they have the right to fix it but multiple chances were already given and they still didn't get it right. I sacrificed so many weekends and had to make arrangements for my children. Not once on any visits by Kevin were to check how the job was being done it was to rush them so they could get to another job. I see there is a poor review by a customer that had work done during the time of my mess which started in March. Rush rush rush and not focusing on one job at a time. One of his workers foot went through the floor upstairs and made a hole in the ceiling downstairs and I've been threatened by Kevin multiple times that I should be lucky that his worker didn't make a claim. I should be lucky? He should be lucky that's a workers comp claim it has nothing to do with me nor is my fault that would of been all on him. I'm one extremely disappointed customer and get so upset and angry every time I look at the floors. read more

Kevin was great to work with but we moved into a house and put brand new floors in and he was very nice to come and fix the parts that were not done right but now it just looks like brand new floors with so many touch ups and half shine and half not I was looking forward to new floors in this new house we moved into and now everyday I come upstairs it's frustrating seeing nice floors but so many touch ups and I'm told that would happen with any floors no way I've got floors put in in the past and not so many touch ups showing and visible half shiny and half not. I will give it to them for coming out and trying to fix several times! I feel a situation like this owner should come see but every single time it was the worker who came! Like I said was nice enough to come touch up but people Need to see all the touch ups and looks horrible! I'm beyond upset as we moved in thinking we would have perfect looking floors! read more

The owner of this company, Kevin, came to my job site recently because his crew alerted him that there were some paint spots on the floor which was in process of refinishing. The paint spots were in fact there, but the problem was absolutely solvable. Kevin's crew who was doing the work was lovely to work/communicate with, but the owner exploded in anger at my painter including swearing (f-bomb) in front of my 3-year old daughter and me on more than one occasion. Ultimately, he claimed responsibility for fixing the problem, and he didn't. The paint spots were not adequately sanded off, and instead he did a very sloppy job with the remaining part of the work. He was extremely argumentative with my husband and our painter, and was beyond rude with me. I was disgusted by his overall demeanor. I would never, ever recommend this company in the future. You'd be better figuring out how to do the refinishing yourself. read more
