Dr. Rau is professional & takes his time to explain everything, go over all info & answer questions. He is knowledgeable & offers up to date medical options. However the in office optician is AWFUL, horrible attitude, can't be bothered to help you select glasses, answers calls while you're trying to talk to her & overall does not care & does not have one ounce of customer service. I was attempting to purchase two new pairs of glasses self pay as they don't take my insurance but based on her dismissive attitude & refusal to help me at all I left & went elsewhere to but my glasses. It's a shame that Dr. Rau's great service & his staff is negatively impacted by the awful optician. I strongly urge them to get a different optician that matches the office's level of care. read more

Dr. Kunjal Modi is a terrible doctor. He had preformed a surgery on my eye, which lead me to be unable to see in my eye. When I told him about this he wanted he wanted to take even more money to fix his mistake. This was a horrible experience, and I do not recommend him. read more

The One Star is for the Staff, all of whom I consider excellent. However, Dr. Modi, does not need me to help him loose his license, and put him out of business, he will do that all by himself in due time. I should have known better, any doctor who brags about how many surgeries he has performed in the past week, well, that does not say much about his medical humanity to me. What it does say, is that he is overly concerned with $$$; NOT his patient. I had cataract surgery on both eyes. The first eye went without incident. The second, eye which followed weeks later was a NIGHTMARE. Both eyes were done at the River Drive Surgery Center in Elmwood, NJ. I am left with scar tissue in the left eye which I refused to allow Dr. Modi remove. I have pictures of my right arm and hand which shows the damage done when neither a nurse nor a doctor could get an IV into me. I was stuck with needles over 8 times, I screamed stop, so loud I was told latter I was heard in the front lobby. I was strapped into a chair, and everytime I screamed "Let Me Go" and/or "Stop Now" I was stuck with a needle which knocked me out for minutes. I was rapped when I was 9 years old several times. This experience, over 64 years later, has left me physically and emotionally scared. Dr. Modi heard me scream "Stop", he did NOTHING. All he wanted was another number and money to add to his weekly list. My regret in retrospect is that I did nothing to get the licenses of the doctors and nurses involved revoked. I used Dr Kunjal Modi from Palisade Eye in their Bayonne, NJ office for my cataract surgery & lens replacement and was extremely happy with him and the results of the surgery. He was very informative, professional, friendly and caring. The office staff and optical assistants in the Bayonne office were also friendly, professional & helpful. The River Drive Surgery Center in Elmwood Drive, NJ that they use to perform it in was also top notch! I was referred by Dr Rau to Dr Brazzo to Bayonne branch. Dr Brazzo is good and pleasant.I did not appreciate the attitude of one of the ladies in the office.Patients should be treated professionally and with respect.I make time for my appointment and it is not free. I suggest to improve their customer service.Also recommends to call patients with their full name,not by first name only since some people have the same first name. read more

The person who took my appointment didn't explain insurance only cover visit not glasses because they don't take my insurance for glasses which made my appointment pointless. This past April of 2023 I had cataract surgery in both eyes. I wasn't a candidate for laser surgery due to medication I was taking. I was examined by both Dr. Panariello and Dr. Rau. The surgery went very well. Both doctors were very reassuring and answered every question I had. I knew I had narrow angles in both eyes. My friend recommended Dr. Modi and I was so happy with him. Nice and smart. He fixed both of my eyes with a laser. Obtained new vision insurance so I went to Palisade Eye in Bayonne, because I had been there previously and it was ok. I brought my new insurance card in, presented it to the person behind the counter and asked if they accepted my insurance. She looked at it and said yes. I asked if there was a copay and she said no there isn't. I made my appointment and when I arrived, I verified my insurance again. I only had to wait 15 minutes to see the doctor. The doctor spent very little time with me, was not very personable, and I feel that I didn't get a proper exam. I had to constantly remind him of things because he wasn't paying attention to my questions. He seemed preoccupied. When I was leaving, I needed to make another appointment and again, I questioned my insurance. She said yes, but they put it through the medical portion of my insurance, because they don't take my vision insurance. I told them that i didn't want it that way, because I was entitled to a free exam with my vision plan. She said that's what they do. I asked if I would receive a bill, and she replied, that no, you will not. She then said that the insurance company had already approved full payment. Today, I received a bill from them with a balance due of over $80. I am extremely agitated that they had given me the wrong and misleading information. Now my "free" exam is going to cost me. I'm going to fight it and make everyone aware of their practice. I honestly wouldn't mind paying, but the exam, the service, and the experience was sub par. read more

I had to wait for over a month just to book an appointment, I was told my appointment time was at 8:30am; I got there at 8am so my kids will be able to make it to school but instead we had to sit there waiting for them to take other people that we were there before ahead of us. I'll NEVER go back to this place. The only thing that was good about this place was the doctor, but their customer service is HORRIBLE, and the girls working there have NASTY attitudes. read more

Eye doctors are great but the eye glass part stinks. They leave by 4 pm. What about us that work and can't get there by 4. Also the person didn't measure my eyes correctly and had to leave early from work to take them back and she got a little nasty with me and told me she did measure correctly. I have to remove a star because a month after the visit, this office is trying to bill me for uncovered services. The thing is, when I was there for the visit, I specifically told the receptionist to call and check with my insurance BEFORE I went in for the exam, so they knew what would be covered. Anyway, I am not paying. My insurance company says the provider signs a contract agreeing to accept the insurance's payment as payment in full. read more

Had the feeling of something in my eye all day. Called at about 330p to see if they could get me in same day or next. They told me to come right away and fit me in! I did wait in the waiting room for about 30 minutes but I don't feel it was that bad as a last minute appointment. The front desk gals are great. Really nice, helpful and funny. The Dr was really nice too. He was very thorough and found a small scratch on my eye. read more

I needed a new ophthalmologist as my former one, Dr. Edmund Topilow, sadly passed away this year. His patients were taken over by Palisade Eye Center. The one thing that absolutely makes me nuts about ANY doctor is a doctor who cannot manage their time and makes patients wait interminably. They say their time is valuable; well, so is mine. I waited there for an hour with no sign I would be seen anytime soon. So, I got up, got my medical records and left. I'll see a doctor in Morristown later this month. Only go if you have several good books to read. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because of the poor follow up service from the staff. I got a new prescription and frames and I told them to call me when they arrive, and if possible to speed the delivery. I had to call them the day before my trip to see if my glasses came in yet because they failed to call me. I was told that they came. Since I work, there's no way for me to pick them up during the work week so I was going to stop by on Saturday, being that they're open those days. Again, they failed to mention they will be closed on that particular Saturday-leaving my trip abroad with no new glasses and a slight blurry vision. Thanks Palisade! read more

Dr Lutz was horrible. Bed side manner was nil and he left me for 30 minutes to see another patient. Received completely different pair of contacts that are way too strong had a headache the entire day I tried them out. Won't be wasting my time read more
