Palisade Eye Care has consistently long wait times, and the quality of care is mediocre at best. What's most frustrating is the apparent disregard for patients' time. My elderly mother and I waited over two hours to see one of the many doctors in the practice, an unacceptable experience. The front office staff was also disappointing and unprofessional. I am going to comment on the customer service we received. Mydallas greeted me as soon as I walked into the office. I felt welcomed and the eagerness to assist me. I explained the reason I came in and she was very understanding and I knew that she would make sure everything will be ok. My brother in law was the patient and he needed me to take him. He is older and doesn't see very well. I explained his situation to Mydallas and she was very keen to make sure I was very satisfied. I also explained that I will need to leave then come back to pick my brother in law, she said ok and I left. She called me and explained what the Dr. said and what I need to do. Amazing, it was like she knew all the answers. I have read the other reviews, they are older and this office has changed. As several others have noted, ridiculous wait times. Got here 30 minutes early to complete any paperwork in advance of my 2:30 appointment. An hour later and still waiting to be seen. The assistants weren't particularly friendly, my daughter was having her first eye exam and was visibly nervous. The doctor was very nice, but kept coughing without covering his mouth. If you want to see the Retina Specialist, he only comes on Wednesdays so every senior citizen in the area will be there. Prepare to wait two hours in a dirty waiting room. They did not verify my insurance information and then had the nerve to charge me! It is their job to verify my insurance information. They said they accepted my insurance, until I got the bill. I have to agree with the two stars. This is two consecutive appointments that I am 15-20 minutes early for my appointment and a hour later is when the doctor seemingly is walking in the back door. Todays appointment is at 8:00AM and it's currently 9AM and I am still waiting to be seen by the doctor. No explanation from the staff. No seems to know where he is. I just heard one of the techs ask if he is at surgery? You don't know? Then Doctor's and there staff wonder why patients get upset. While the staff is walking around talking about their nails and vitamins and ordering food I should be at work attending to my own incoming patients. No I'm not a doctor but my main responsibility at my own job is working with maternal patients 5 days a week. And when an issue such as this occurs my staff and myself take the time to try and address the issues and Apologize. Dr. finally arrived no apologies and less then 5 minutes see you In six months. Let me follow up and see how much is my insurance being billed. And Im an hour 46 minutes late for work! Have a good day! read more

Wait time was a little over an hour past appt time, but other than that, everyone was really great. The receptionists, the technician, and the doctor were all courteous and competent. Do yourselves a favor, do not go through their optical shop for their prescription glasses or lenses. The person in charge is incompetent and mediocre. The doctor (Dr. Betty) is pretty good, but the worst part is the optician shop within premises. ### Don't go via their optician for buying the glasses. ### They first told me 1 week. when I called, they kept repeating "we will call you when they are ready" At the end of second week, I called the guy, Carlos who seems to run the shop. He said the glasses were ready. I went to pick them up and found that: 1. The lenses had smudges and finger prints all over. 2. The frame was incorrect, I had ordered a different design. 3. The frame had scratches and looked used. It almost seems to be the same one that I originally saw in the shop while selecting the frame two weeks ago. Currently waiting for them to reorder. The doctors are quite professionals an good at what they do, but their billing practices are a little shady. I went for an examination to the Union office due to an infection and all went well and needed a "follow up" two weeks later. According to my HR and the insurance company, I'm not supposed to pay for that follow up visit, but the way they sent paperwork to the insurance, it is done in a matter dubious so they not only get paid more, but charge me no matter what. Do you know what happens when you don't pay one of those bills? your credit score is ruined! I tried to call Dr. Ganesh Rau to state my case, but no matter how many messages I left with Jazmin or Jennifer, he never returned my calls. I was so looking forward to this appointment! I was deployed for 15 months and couldn't get an eye appointment overseas. My eyes have deteriorated and I finally got insurance through my new job. The address on my plan website gave me the old office address. After I couldn't find the office, I called and walked 4 blocks in the rain. I was 10 min early for my 3:30 pm appointment. 4:15 pm I got up, said I was going to leave. I couldn't wait anymore. The receptionist called to another asking who was next to be called. When it wasn't me, I left. Parked at old office and was charged $8. Waste of time and money. I'll look elsewhere. read more

My family have been coming to this office for years now and I gotta say that though the wait times are long the doctors do not disappoint! The staff are very nice, the office is very clean and maintained. My dad sees Dr. Panariello, he loved him. He did his surgery and my dad was so happy with it. My mom sees any doctor available and she's glad to be seen and that they are all thorough with their exam. Me & my husband sees Dr. Rau. Regardless of the reviews of this place, they are very good doctors. read more

Been to a number of other nearby doctors and none of them could figure out what was going on. Went to Dr Rau and he almost immediately knew what was going on. I then brought my mother here and Dr Rau took the time to really help her understand cataracts and the process of having them removed. She now sees better than she has in 15 years! read more

I was happy when this practice allowed seeing patients during lockdown. But unfortunately that's about it. My sad story starts in March and ends now. I have had it. Dr. Cervenak was the first whom I saw. She said I had a chalazion and prescribed me drops. When the pain and the cyst did not go away, she recommended I'd be seen by Dr. Modi who would remove it surgically. When I went to his office, he could NOT see the cyst. He was examining me at distance, extending his hand. I assume he wanted to stay as far away from patients as possible, although I did have a face mask. Helped by me, he finally saw the cyst and said it would be best to wait and not have surgery then. I understood we were in a very delicate situation on account of C-19. I waited and still hoped the drops would take care of this. It did not. I e-mailed the practice and the next appointment was with Dr. Rau. He said I should be prescribed stronger drops and contradicted Dr. Cervenak's diagnosis, now I did not have a chazalion but pyogenic granuloma and recommended me ZYLET. I hoped that would be it. Still in pain and discomfort, I had to call the practice again. I was switched to LOTEMAX. Yesterday, I had to call the practice, because now 1. the cyst in my lower eye-lid is still there but because of C-19 non-essential surgeries are postponed. I knew that. However, Dr. Panariello contradicted his colleagues saying that if the cyst did not disappear after 5 weeks of various drops (all prescribed by doctors from PALISADE EYE) then I should discontinue to have them in my eye. I also went there because now my upper right eye-lid is swollen and it hurts every single time when I blink. He dismissed the obvious swelling and instead of prescribing me an antibiotic for 7 or 10 days to help with the infection that is clearly going on, he said to pour ZYLET. Because, why not, that was in my chart anyway?! Does the OATH mean anything to you, doctors? PRIMUM NON NOCERE. I guess not. I was sad not only that I spent money and time back and forth but that they are clearly each suggesting something else. Too bad other practices are closed because of the pandemic because I would have rather chosen a professional one. PLEASE AVOID THIS PRACTICE. read more

I took my 23 yr. old daughter for an exam, she went in alone, and the doctor proceeded to dilate her pupils without asking whether she drove there or if she had a ride, so upon leaving, had I not been there she would have been unable to drive or may have had an accident trying. That is a concern to me. But what compelled me to write this was the front office staff. Having met my maximum out of pocket with my insurance, I should not have been charged the $30 copay. I advised the lady who claimed to be the acting office manager of this, and asked her to call my insurance to verify. She flat out refused without explanation. Even after I offered her the 'provider hotline' number on my insurance ID, she just refused to call. I paid and will have to wait for them to reimburse, causing an unnecessary inconvenience to both me and their office. My advice is find another place that actually cares about the patient. read more

Not sure why this place has such poor reviews. I was able to get an appointment on the same day, which is amazing and a real life saver, given the eye troubles I was having and the pain I was in. There was quite a bit of a wait at the office, but any time I've been to any doctor anywhere, that's been the case. Dr. Cervenak examined me very thoroughly and took my condition very seriously. She applied an ointment and asked me to come back later that day so she could check on the progress of the healing, because she was worried I may have had an infection. Turns out I was ok in that regard, just scratches but no viral infection. She asked me detailed questions about my eye care routine and made very thorough suggestions on what I should change to improve my eye health. Overall, I was very satisfied with the treatment and attention I received, both from the office staff and the doctor herself. read more
