This bakery has been around for many, many years. I grew up in a town over and used to go all the time as a kid for the most amazing cakes, pies, and pastries. Truly one of The Best in NJ. It is now a Korean Bakery shop \cafe and still makes very good products, but if you remember the "old PPB" it is not the same at all. Located on the main business district, there is street parking. I stopped in one evening to grab some items to go. The person working the counter was nice enough. They now have cafe\brunch items so it's not just a bakery anymore. Very little Italian pastries anymore; more generic cakes, donuts, cookies, etc are the norm now. Of course Korean specialties too. Their rice donuts were amazing. For many years, local bakeries in the area made a Bavarian creme filled pecan danish ring with streusel sugar drizzled on top. PPB still does and it is Amazing! Palisades Bakery @ Palisades Park It has been at this locations for ever !!!!!! Change of owner after COVID, and still offers the traditional, long-loved cakes and pastries as before - the famous pecan custard pie, cheese cake!!!! The good thing now is that they have a broader selection of Korean style pastries, along with meal menu. I have had their pizza, salad, and pasta: they are very good - just tad bit pricey. This morning brunch was something more surprising. We had omelette ($18.99) and Eggs Royale with smoked salmon ($21.99), and they come with coffee included. I decided to order a 7 layer cake from this bakery for a family birthday since there were so many good reviews. I called to order an 8" chocolate 7 layer cake with personalized birthday message. The cake was ready when I picked up. The cake was larger than I expected. The 7 layer cake was amazing. The cake was moist and the frosting was creamy but not too sweet. It was also reasonably priced and the bakery itself is very cute. I would definitely come back! I'm planning to order all my cakes from here. read more

This is very different from the original Pal Park bakery. It's more of a cafe now. They may have some of the same baked goods but they shouldn't have kept the name. I tried an almond red bean pastry, something new, and a jelly donut, something old. Neither disappointed! The almond with the red bean was a nice touch and something different than I've usually had with red bean. The jelly donut just as good! Perfectly filled with jelly. I highly recommend both. Bright, open, clean, inviting, and open until late!! There are so many beautiful bakery selections - you'll always find more than one yumminess to choose from. There's an extensive beverage menu as well. As soon as I walked in, my eyes drew to the scones. They have so many wonderful flavors I couldn't keep my eyes on just one. Nice bakery at Palisade park. Many pastries and cakes. The path is a little narrow when getting the bread but overall very clean and easy to go around. Some tables for dining in. Coffee is good. Chocolate donut is ok. Only a thin layer of chocolate on the top. Service is nice and quick. Staff is friendly. read more

NO QUALITY BAKED GOODS ANYMORE. Awful. The donuts are tasteless. Look at my pictures. There's NO real cream in the chocolate covered cream donut (there's no cream at all which is probably a good thing anyway)!!!! The apple turnover was tasteless and had a bad aftertaste. I don't know whether these pastries are even baked on site since the place didn't smell like a bakery. 3 Cream donuts & 2 tiny turnover things cost over $19. Remember our bakery??? We'd buy a whole cake with a couple of donuts for that price or less!!! I understand inflation & would PAY for a great donut - but what's offered at this "shop" aren't the pastries we expect. As another poster wrote, this is now like all the other little Asian patisseries on Broad Ave. They do not use "original recipes" or have original bakers. The self-serve donut section is a waste of space & unsanitary. I so looked forward to going back to my favorite bakery. This place only carries the original name. Everything else is overpriced, tastes bad, has the wrong texture. The chocolate covering on the cream donut chipped off while trying to bite into it. Ok after waiting a while that the bakery re opened and I read some bad reviews I decided to go... it was one of my favorite places pre-covid. Unfortunately the spirit of the old bakery is gone. I found a very clean nicely presented coffee shop with baked items. The bakery items: donuts, apple strudel, turnovers, etc and some Asian bakes. The prices: outrageous! I wasn't expecting the old prices but $2.75 for a donut or $6 for apple strudel is expensive. The quality was good, the taste was not the original bakery 5 star taste. read more

I think the bakery is cute and has a great concept but as time is passing, the prices and product are going downhill. Pastries tend to be dry. And I just purchased a small fruit tart that was smaller than my palm for $10.66! I get one double the size at Paris Baguette for $6. The prices are getting outrageous! WARNINGS: Pal Park Bakery is dead and gone. Telling you now so you are prepared for less original-ness, best creme from magical donuts and custard filled pecan ring that was right. This "so called" new PPB is your typical Paris Baguette but fancier and way more expensive. Now, flavor time review. The creme in the donuts are mediocre and 1/4 creme inside, a big step down. Pecan ring with custard can still give you the reminiscence of the good ol' days at old PPB but again, less of the good sht. I am extremely sad. RIP PPB. Paris Baguette is where I go for my creme donut now. It's the most similar I found since PPB. Let me know what you think when you try theirs. read more

My daughter came up from Phillipsburg, leaving her house at a little after 4 in the morning to pick up her mother to be at the bakery at 6 AM. Unfortunately the bakery is NOT run by the original owners as advertised. They also don't make the same products that the Bakery had been famous for. Actually I am not happy with my wife and daughter for coming back with 6 donuts which cost $26.00. The daughter bought 4 items (2 cookies a muffin and something that looked like a Danish). Definitely not the same, don't bother wasting money! The new owner was at the register making up prices depending on who was paying! I paid $3.00 a donut for 12 donuts in two small boxes totaling $36.00 and the guy in front of me had 5 boxes of something and paid $29.00. The Boston Cream donuts, which I used to buy a dozen every Sunday and sometimes during the week for work, were barely covered in chocolate that you could see the donut through and had almost no cream. The jelly donuts were hard as if they were day old. The new owner obviously put more money into the boxes and the paper liners than the product going in the boxes. He wasted his money and mine. There was a reason that lines were out the door every weekend and holiday. This is not the bakery it used to be, it's another glitzy cafe just to be seen. All show and no substance. read more

I was so thrilled when I heard Palisades Park Bakery was reopening. It's been too long since Covid pandemic affected so many businesses. The moment I finally stepped into the place, I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. The place looks more like "paris baguette-ish" Don't get me wrong, I like Paris Baguette, it has its own charm. I must say the new palisades park bakery is cute & clean; However, I still remember everytime I enter the shop, you were greeted by friendly staffs & it smelled freshly baked italian breads & pastries. You will feel you really were in a BAKERY. Now, the look & smell are nothing more just a coffee shop. I always order 2 things there: THE FAMOUS PECAN CUSTARD PIE & CHEESE STRUDEL. The pecan custard pie has doubled the price. The taste is meh. It's okay since we've been waiting & craving for it for so long. It was $10.50 back then & now it's $20 & some change. (Yes, I get it, everything is on inflation $$$) But if you were to double the price, keep the original size & the original recipe. The cheese strudel was not available. Yelp & reinforcement from my coworker guided me to this bakery. I made a quick pit stop, street parking available only with smart meters. It wasn't busy late at night before it closed on a weekday however regulars came in with orders for pick up. I wanted to purchase the renowned pecan custard, but I cannot eat it alone. So I got a mini pecan pastry, sadly without the custard. And a cheese filled pastry. My favorite was the cheese filled one, with a toasty lightly sweetened drizzled bread and with a balance of cheese in every bite. The pecan pasty was also lightly sweetened a bit flakier & dry to me, wishing there was a bit of custard to fill in that gap. Otherwise, I'll return for the pecan custard whenever there's a party to try it & very likely other smaller pastries. read more

I love love love this place and I'm so happy it opened up next to Cafe Oak, because I do like their drinks better. The pastries at this bakery are really good! I have tried a lot of different things and they have all been great, but the vanilla cream pastries really get me. I come back for mainly just the chocolate donut with cream filling and that filling is in quite a few different pastries. The Lobster tails are really good here too. The ambiance is really nice, the staff is lovely, and the owner is super sweet! I havent had the chance to get a cake from here, but they look really pretty and the presentation is deff something to wow everyone with. read more

I absolutely loved the elephant ears from here! Ridiculously flaky and crunchie. Definitely sweet but I still enjoyed it. I had to stop every 2 bites because of the sweetness but I was back in minutes for more lol. The eclairs was good too, nice creamy custard filling andlotsof it. 2 people can easily share 1 of these. My friends found them a bit sweet but I thought it was good. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate on top but it barely affected my experience. That eclair and the coffee from next door was the best combo! Omg this place gives me a reason to step out of the house on Sarurdays!! Portions are huge for what you pay, you'll be thinking you traveled back to the 90's again, lol!!! The Palisade Park Bakery is truly gone and replaced with a Korean shop. Gone are the Apple turn overs, 7 layer cakes, themed sugar cookies, danish, and all the cakes you loved. What a disappointment! They had Apple turnovers $3.50 - covered in sugar. Some stuff in an open shelving unit. For self-service but I thought not too sanitary. One lonely small cheesecake, one loaf of white bread. This place is amazing and the prices are very good. Smells incredible too when you walk in. I actually have not tried anything but the Pecan Custard Ring and OMG it is freaking delicious!!!!! It is definitely on my top 5 favorite desserts. The texture is perfect - it is sweet and crispy on the outside and the inside has the right amount of fluffiness to the custard. It is also not overly sweet which is always a plus. When I get the pecan custard pie, I need to share it with others because I can totally eat the entire thing myself. It's a good thing I don't live super close to this bakery.. or else I'd seriously be on the fast track to getting diabetes! FYI, this place is cash only. There is street parking on Broad Ave so make sure you bring quarters just in case because I think it only accepts quarters/credit card.
