Stopped for a muffin and latte. The space is inviting (lots of plants) and the baristas were really nice - I changed my mind twice mid-order, but they were cool about it. My iced latte (decaf, almond milk) was great, very smooth. I had a vegan blueberry passionfruit muffin. I was drawn to the muffin in the case because, seeing all the blueberries on top, I had expected a lot of berries distributed throughout too, but it turned out there were no berries inside the muffin at all. Maybe this was an intentional decision to put all the berries on top, but I could not get on board with it, it made the bottom half of the muffin very plain. I liked the vibe of the place and the coffee was great so I'd definitely give it another try, but would be a little careful about my baked good selection next time. read more

Pallet offers good amount of coffee beans selections. The sitting area is very clean and nice. A good place to hang out and try out different coffees. We ordered a cappuccino, an espresso, and 2 different types of processes of the same bean from the same farm. It was like a tasting adventure in the morning. read more

This was my first time to visit this coffee shop as I was working in this neighbourhood. I saw some good or bad comments about this coffee shop. I tried the other branches at other two locations. They were pretty good, so I decided to try this one on west broadway. I came here around 1pm. There was some customers. No lineup. It was great! A barista at the cashier greeted me with a pleasant smile and asked for my order. I ordered a cheddar cheese scone and a cup of 12oz latte. They cost me $8.05. The price was average and reasonable. The scone was soft but it would be nice if a barista could heat it up a little bit, so it would be warm and fresh again. The latte was smooth and had a good balance of milk and coffee. I liked it. The ambience was comfortable but I did not have a chance to sit, eat and relax here. Overall, I had a great experience here. read more

3.5 stars ... definitely a cut above your typical corporate brands with it's great offering of different beans roasted right in Vancouver. For me, I discovered this spot in Toronto Beanstock and happily made this my first stop in Vancouver. I have a soft spot for Pallet as this woke me up to African beans with their Ethiopia Kayon Mountain single origin. If this is available on the daily menu, grab a pour over and drink it black. This is one of the best beans I've had in a long time. It is the rare moment where the notes describe ring so true in tastes... the prominent blueberry notes just rises in the midst of the sip and ending truer near the end. As for this particular location, I liked it as it had large windows to let in the light and several spots to allow different group sizes to sit, sip, and enjoy. The space is quite airy with it's vaulted ceilings and use of blonde woods ... minimalist in a Nordic type of way. Definitely more spacious than downtown Vancouver coffee spots so the laptop horde can sit for hours undisturbed. On a random Saturday morning, this wasn't too busy and most of the tables were still available. Unlike other reviews, I didnt experience any of the bad customer service. I didnt get a great engaged barista but I had no issue requesting a flat white or more bags of Kayon Mountain to buy. If anything, I would say they're on par with most independent coffee spots... decent service. Flat White made with Benchmark beans - This was their staple bean used for most espresso based drinks. Definitely more acidic and bright compared to beans I'm used to, this was interesting as you can taste a white grape tartness to this. I can see a casual drink calling this as being sour but I can admire how they made this fruit forward. I found this not be as balanced as other flat whites I've had. It was missing the creamy sweetness that followed through to the end. Not quite a curdled flavour but pushing the sourness envelope. 3.5/5 Flat white made with Fazenda Recreio beans - I like this one better than the Benchmark beans. The nuttiness note comes through stronger and it's not as bright as the benchmark. I think this works better in flat whites where you have less milk and foams compared latte or cappuccino. Still pushing the envelope of acidity, but much more approachable than the Benchmark. 3.5/5 I still like Pallet for the Kayon Mountain beans as it is delicious in a flat white but their other beans here doesn't have the same flavour profile. I'd return but only to get more Kayon Mountains and maybe once in a while try one of their other single origins. read more

This is a nice, clean cafe with a good amount of space. The aesthetics are nice. The coffee is delicious. They have a few different beans to choose from. You can get them either as an espresso-based beverage or a pour-over. I ended up getting a bean she recommended as a pour over and I have no regrets, it was delicious. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the different beans and brew methods they offer. Plenty of seating. read more

I have a love/meh relationship with Pallet. LOVE: so conveniently located close to me, good coffee, lots of outdoor seating. They also have the most delicious ham and cheese croissant in the city. I don't know what's the magic trick but the combination of ham, tomato, melts cheese and delightfully soft but flaky croissant has a special place in my heart and belly. MEH: subpar customer service, many rules with their seating (half of the shop is filled with tables where no laptops are allowed; you can only have your laptop out while sitting at the communal table or along the benches by the window) Their customer is lackluster at best. They get pretty snobby when you are not familiar with their menu and ask questions. I wanted just a drip coffee and was told that "UMMM, we DON'T do that here, we are a specialty coffee shop *eye roll*"which is fine, thanks for sharing, maybe with less attitude next time) When they first opened I thought maybe they would put Blenz out of business, but they haven't yet, probably due to the no laptop rule and the less-than-ideal customer service. I just think if you are here getting a coffee, lunch, and are a paying customer, you should really be able to utilize the space reasonably. Oh and don't get me started on the WiFi, having a plain ol' Telus open network WiFi is not really good enough for the amount they charge. In my neighborhood there are many coffee shops, when Pallet opened, I was so excited. Since then, I have become a regular customer. I love the beef sandwich from their lunch menu and I always recommend my friends to try it. Unfortunately they have changed the roast beef into pulled beef and the taste is totally changed. I had a pretty typical order (anywhere else it seems) of a half decaf Americano- and I was shocked to have the response "we don't do that". At first I thought it might be miscommunication, and tried to explain just one shot decaffeinated, the rest regular. She said it would be $1 extra. Really??? I've never had any place say that, in Vancouver or around the world. Hope their coffee is good or their customer service improves for them to survive. read more

So this review could have been a four if it weren't for some funky rude customer service from the cashier, but I digress, let's talk about the rest! So I've driven past this coffee shop numerous times and have never had a chance to go in. I was meeting up with a friend and she suggested we go. I was totally down. Cute coffee shops? Hell yes. So this place is bright, modern and beautiful. More appealing than a Starbucks, except for some of the ultra new ones. Actually maybe they are at par. I love all the fresh flowers, lights and seating. It's really lovely in here. So ambiance aside, let's move onto food and beverages. I ordered an Americano and it was good. Very standard but very good. I also ordered a sandwich which you can build yourself through numerous options but they also have some prepared options. I was semi confused about it, but all I got was a rude blunt response from a very melancholy cashier. Yikes! My sandwich was pretty good. My bill was around $13 for both the sandwich and medium coffee. Will I come back? Maybe, but I'm not dying too lol. read more

Came here last week to settle in and do some work. I'm a bit surprised that the previous review mentioned there's limited seating as I was going to say there's a decent amount of seating for a coffee shop! They had a few tables outside plus a large harvest table, several bar height tables (which I love because they're the perfect height as standing desks!) and on the other side of the cafe they had at least another 6 small tables for 2? Coffee was good as expected, had an amazing savoury chive and cheese scone. Plugs available for computers. Service normal. Only thing I would have liked was if they asked whether I'd like the scone warmed up - I think it would have been a lot better that way! read more

The decor at this location is pretty good, very bright and comfortable. The price of their beans are comparable to other coffee Roasters in the city. I tried their macchiato and drip coffee the other day and both were quite sour, moreso than any other place I've tried in the city. read more

Meh coffee. Recently moved to the neighborhood and I was excited to try this coffee shop. I only get drip coffee or Americanos from coffee shops, so I got the drip coffee to see how their beans were. Front staff were nice and friendly and the interior was clean and modern, however their drip coffee was far from good. It tastes bland a little too acidic for my taste. I did see that they had multiple beans for sale. Not quite sure which one I got, as I just asked for a medium roast. I'll go back to try their dark roast, but if that doesn't work for me then I'll have to look for another place in the neighborhood to grab a quick coffee. As for now, all I can say is that I will definitely be missing living 3 minutes from a JJ bean. read more

A combination of hip, original, delicious food and pastries, and excellent drink menu! Kingsway would have to be my favourite location but this kits one is pretty close too. I've been supporting Pallet since I first discovered them on Semlin - when there was one shop. The coffee was wonderful and I stopped by daily to experience the great coffee. However, what is with the snarky new barista? My mornings are upbeat and positive - the coffee is not wonderful enough to tolerate it being served up with an attitude. Just want to say the WiFi works better now but it is a Telus hot spot so you are signing away some rights. Also the drip coffee is good, and their beans are good because I've had their coffee at other cafes but their baristas are not great with the espresso based drinks frequently tasting burnt or not right. I also found a hair in a sandwich once. But only once and I've been frequently and still had the sandwiches and it was fine and the staff were good about it when I complained about the hair. read more
