Stopped in for a service yesterday and while I had to wait longer than usual to check in, I was pleasantly surprised at the composure that the girls working the desk were able to display with two semi difficult customers who had no respect for others around them. The staff explained to the girls that they couldn't tan a max amount due to time between visits along were patient when telling them that is a cash-free establishment. They politely over came each obstacle that these girls through out. Overall while I feel cost is fairly high for some of the services offered. I feel the staff does rather well from my first impression of them. The one hiccup I before was promptly dealt with by the manager professionally. Honestly I wish I needed their services more often. Oh and the red light bed definitely makes a difference. read more

I have been over billed despite providing cancellation notice in person on June 3, 2025. They've continued to bill my account monthly since then. They require you to come in person to mitigate any paper trail needs.... My finance had a separate package which was cancelled while mine was not. I guess it says a lot that the people that miss me most (other than my porn star I mean gf) (I mean both) are tanning employees and bubble tea baristas (sob). This is the best place for me to tan in all of the Houston area because they have this little claustrophobic prison cell-like stand up tanning booth which really gets me nice and brown and that's why I like to use it. A lot of the other ones don't work nearly as well in terms of colour and results. I have tanned skin anyway so it's easier for me to get a tan if I can have a little decent strength exposure. All the employees here are friends, especially the blondie who runs the place, generally they're super sweet and friendly, although some of the customers are not friendly at all - I've heard the girls being yelled or moaned at on several occasions and each time I came close to getting involved and standing up for them, but they handled it expertly so I wasn't needed. But the girls here know I have their backs if they ever need it. Seriously, why are you going to yell at tanning employees? It's a busier location but calm down, take your time, life goes on. Don't take it out on other people that you're late for your Hot Yoga which BTW isn't that hot. And I got semi-yelled at by one of them the other day - the customers that is. He was barking at the employees about me, anyway, at first behind my back and then to my face. Redneck kinda guy, not a friendly one. I've had to wait 30 mins for tanning beds on a few occasions. He had to wait exactly 22 for mine and he lost his sh**. The waiting area could be much more comfortable and other than the occasional bad vibe as described and so on, it's been nothing but positive stuff here. For the tanning itself and the excellent employees I give 5 stars. But if I were reviewing the customers, it'd be more scathing ;) Later edit: Still my favorite tanning salon. A little claustrophobic, just a quick 9-minute blast and I end up looking so tan at everybody wants to jump on me and they often do and I usually don't prosecute. I'm friends with the people who work here, who are all ridiculously attractive and super friendly, and other than my one bad experience which I've described before, I've had great times here. Lots of very attractive people tan here so you'll have to imagine that you are very attractive as I often do in order to not be intimidated. The open light is on at 7:05 and I stood there for 10 minutes. after sitting in traffic for hours. I arrived and walked in at 6:55. When the young girl (maybe 19) finally came to the front desk I asked if I could do a spray (takes 4 minutes). She says to me, "I have to go I've got plans." I replied to her that I have been standing there waiting. She asks me, "how long have you been waiting?" As if that would change the fact by a minute or two that she wouldn't let me spray. I've been going to this chain (monopoly) of tanning companies for 20 years. They got rid of the amenities, the extra services, and clearly the right employees.. Now they have taken over Houston giving us the option of nothing if we didnt have the time to wait to book a hand sprayed tan. I set up my account to not be billed before I left town. I can advise anyone who tans to check out any and all other tanning options other than palm beach tan. The only location I've never had an issue with- closed a month ago in midtown. I don't even care for the solution or the machines they have. It's cheaper per month and there are no add ons to be upsold on and it's a personalized color and experience and they even come to your home.this place needs to stop hiring children to close the store. This kid had no reason closing the store. Especially if she's so much in a hurry to go party instead of putting the companies brand priority. read more

I still continue to go here because I haven't found another place near me, but candidly they are terrible for the spray tan. They have two types of machines that you have to buy additives for to make it look decent. Unfortunately the machines are never consistent--they work great rarely. They spray parts of you sometimes or they just aren't cleaned right or something and you get barely anything from them. Most of the people working and in management are less than helpful and will not do any adjustments or help in any way. I end up spending $150 month in additives and have to come far too frequently to keep the tan or to fix it so it doesn't look ridiculous. read more

I have been a customer for over 4 years and never had to pay an up charge for bronze. The biggest problem with the charge is that the color is never consistent. Sometimes you can't tell I sprayed and other times it dark and blotchy. I'm finding I can no longer count on this place as I usually only have one visit to get it right. Such a stark contrast to previous employees. Friendly, efficient, professional and offer genuine tips or suggestions. Avoid! This place has gone down hill since switching ownership. The process of coming back in to tan was tedious and even though I had to pay for a full session, wasn't allowed to use the full time. When I explained my skin type and recent sun exposure so the desk rep knew I was ok going longer - Sarah at the front did not care. When I asked what I need to do to tan longer she stated "You need to come in more". She asked me to sign a release without showing it to me and said she didn't have a copy. STICK. WITH. GLO. I bought a three pack spray for almost $70 and not only did the spray suffocate me and smell atrocious, it was almost a more pale color than my skin. The worst part is I've called 3 times for a refund and nothing. I will never go back and I will definitely warn my friends about the unprofessionalism and terrible tanning services. Stopped by here for the first time as I was driving through. When I walked in then no one greeted me & all of the girls were chatting in a circle. I walked up and the girl who did help me would not stop upselling!! I understand wanting to push the products, but I had to say no to 3 of her long tangents before I just cut her off and said "I don't want to buy anything today." (I also already had my lotions in my hand so she was trying to get me to switch from those and buy what she was suggesting?) On my way out I said bye to the girls. At my normal PBT location they typically all say bye to me first. It's the little things!! But at this location no one even returned my goodbye. Went 1 time to this location unfortunately got cov19 shortly after. Tried to cancel membership at location, said I needed to call HQ, after handling that mess 4 months later I received email saying I owe $280+ for past due. I never agreed to a contract. After sitting for almost 2 hours why is the manager Michaela decided not to help me after I was lied to about forgiving the first delinquent payment ( which By the way I even came on the first in person and told them it. They are only gettin one star because I am forced to leave one. Otherwise they would get zero! I just moved to this area and used to go to the location on Eldridge. Eldridge location was excellent! This location is a total sht Show. I was unhappy about an experience I had and left a note for Liz, the "manager". I called four days later and asked the girl that was working if Liz got my note. She told me that she did get it and she did read it. I guess she just chose to ignore a very upset customer. I took the time to write her a note and she ignored it???? I had to call the Shepherd location to get this reported to the district manager. Poor management reflects upon the integrity of the company. I'm appalled that a manager just does not care at all. The Manager, Michelle, is FABULOUS!! I've been a longtime member at Glo Sun Spa in RIver Oaks and couldn't stand the attitude from their store manager Britt who replaces Eddie. Left and tried Malibu Tan. Nice staff but clearly need more help. The beds need updating, too expensive, etc. Tried Palm Beach because Malibu wasn't open on time and NEVER LOOKED BACK. I quickly followed Michelle to the Memorial Store when they transferred her from Shepard. Their machines are state of the art. I love the Alpha bed actually has functioning blue tooth you can easily pair your iphone music with. Option for spray tans are better than the ones at either Glo or Malibu. Cheaper for all inclusive members and did i mention the customer service??? Palm Beach Tan on Memorial Drive. You won't regret it!! read more

I am a legacy Darque Tan client that became a PBT customer as a result of the merger. As a spray tan customer, I appreciated Darque Tan's longer hours. The 9pm spray tan was much easier to accommodate than 8pm. PBT please consider extending Thursday night hours by another hour. It is the most popular tanning night and people have places to go and stuff to do after work. Since PBT took over, my spray tans haven't been developing at all. I was spraying 2x per week and remained the same pasty color. I've now realized it's because the employees weren't checking to make sure the solution was full before I tanned. And since I was going right before close, I imagine the solution bottle was empty every time. I expressed this concern to the same employee on 3 different occasions and she was totally unresponsive to the issue. Her lack of basic customer service skills rival that of a prison guard. I should honestly be reimbursed for my last 3 months of patronage to compensate for the zero tan development, wasted time, and having to interact with such a truly incompetent employee. I'm leaving 1 star for this review (instead of -100) because of a redeeming experience I had with an employee, Gina. Gina has demonstrated empathy, responsiveness, and product knowledge. And I finally got a developed spray tan because of Gina's proactivity in checking the level of solution before I tanned (like employees should be doing). If you are considering joining PBT, unfortunately you have to because the tanning market in Houston is clearly a monopoly with PBT facing very few competitors. But buyer beware - you will have to do the employees' jobs for them and check the solution every time before you tan. Because they clearly won't. Came back in to use my tan dollars after having my account on hold for over a year. In April 2020 when the entire world was shut down my month did not process through. ( I was out of work) This location said I could not use my $150 or even activate my membership until I pay them for the month the world was shut down. I contacted customer service but it's been over 2 weeks and I have not heard anything from them. The girl was fine with me canceling my membership however. I now have money sitting in my account that they will not let me have. read more

This location is far from where I live, but I will make the drive each and every time because the customer service that Michelle provides is above and beyond. I have frequented many tanning Salons and not all of them recognize your name on the first week and have you pulled up while you are parking. I was a long-time Darque Tan member. Darque Tan was fine, no major complaints, but since the merger, I am beyond pleased with how well Palm Beach took everything over. Michelle is so bubbly and sweet! Greets you by name everytime you walk in, knows her products very well and will help explain anything to you. While I am IN LOVE with the alpha bed, I do wish y'all would update the other beds as well... new stand up ones for example. read more

I too was a long time Darque Tan customer who was disappointed with the lack of transparency when they switched hands to pbt. Needless to say, I am beyond frustrated with the change of hands. For the past 4 years, I have held an unlimited sunless tan monthly package. Based upon my experiences at the memorial drive and shepherd locations, I am very much considering dropping my membership. Without fail, every visit I have had in the months since pbt took over, each visit has been worse than the one before. The spray tan machines at both locations do not function appropriately. Not only does the formula wreak on both machines but I don't notice much of a difference in my complexion post spray tanning. To make things worse, the change of staff has only added fuel to the fire. At both locations, the staff are completely apathetic and rude. It is very unfortunate as to what the former darque tan has become! read more

WARNING MEMBERSHIP SCAM! I canceled my account IN PERSON and the representative at the desk stated that I would be billed for the the next month and then would see the re-occurring charges stop. They did not stop and after several months of charges I called their 1-800. I was told that they had no record of my cancellation and I should have signed and received a cancellation number. I told them that I was not given anything nor asked to sign anything and haven't used their services in months. Customer service rep stated she could see that I had not used their services but that I would still need to go into one of their locations to cancel and request refund even though I already did that. I went into their store AGAIN and requested to cancel AGAIN and the same young woman who originally canceled my account said that my account showed as cancelled. I told her their customer service rep stated I needed to sign something to cancel and she told me that "after 3 months of non-payment membership would drop off"? No idea what that meant as I was clearly there due to the continued monthly charges which were not authorized. I had to demand a cancellation number. TOTAL THIEVES! read more
