Why are there NEVER any clean beds? You know you don't have to wait until a customer is here before you clean them. We used to go the Slide location, but we live a couple of blocks from 82nd. I do not recommend this place. Even if you follow all recommendations spray tan is streaky. Their solution is just to sell you their spray tan to take home. Manager offered a free add on to try to fix the problem. When I went in the next time it was to find out they had taken my tan bucks to pay for it. They're rude and liars. Lied about actual legal documents tried to cancel account and literally had to have my banker stop them from illegally drafting money from my account. Pretty crappy! Always tan needs to come back!I did not sign up for a monthly membership I was tricked into signing a membership when I signed the little computer key pad for my month then lied to they said they emailed me a copy and they didn't, I never received a receipt for my purchase of one month of tanning, my $80 lotion or the candle I purchased. I was never told to cancel by the 25th. I find this very concerning as business owner of more than 20 years here in Lubbock, We will never do business with your company again and word of mouth is the best and worse reference. I just lost my elderly mother and dealing with ignorant young adults who clearly do not know Texas laws probably need to educate themselves before threatening legal action. This was not obtained legally , never had anyone go over word for word contract details with myself, no printed copy gone over. I will be talking to my attorney and I will be letting the Better Business Bureau know along with consumer alerts and my attorney is a state representative here in Texas. The customer service is terrible here. I called about getting help with some changes to my account and was treated poorly by the manager. I received no help and was appalled by the short tone she had with me throughout the conversation. It was like she had no time to help me with my questions and concerns. She even began to talk to another customer while on the phone with me. They are very product pushy here as well. If you don't plan on spending an arm and a leg on product, don't bother walking in the door. I highly suggest you go to the Palm Beach on 4th and Slide. The girls here are friendly and welcoming. They talk with you about products, but don't over sell. I've always been greeted with a warm smile here. They have been helpful and kind! read more

When the girl told me that they didn't do pricing over the phone, I explained my situation, that I was from out of town and driving in for a wedding and didn't have time to drive all over town for a price. I've been tanning here for five years. I spend a lot of money and find it absolutely ridiculous to walk into an establishment that is hotter inside than it is outside. To expect your employees to work in these conditions is horrible. I understand that beds are hot; however, I've tanned in places where I have never felt like I was suffocating due to the heat. No exaggeration, it feels like you're getting a heat stroke while you're laying in a tanning bed because there is no AC. It has been like this the last two years. I would almost be willing to drive out of my way to go to a different salon. People pay good money to not sweat and feel like they're getting a heat stroke. The owner needs to step up and fix the situation. Better yet, they need to work in these conditions so they know what their employees feel like everyday. Ridiculous! read more

The customer is always right....except at Palm Beach Tan. I had been a long, loyal customer and finally needed to pause my membership for a few months. I went in, took the appropriate steps with girl working the front, signed away and off I went. Wrong - Palm Beach charged me for 3 months full membership instead of the $7 freeze fee. I realize it's my fault for not noticing the mistake in the very first month, but they should have gotten it right the first time. When I went in to be refunded my money for 3 months and ensure that my account was frozen, the girl informed me that it must have been a computer error, they had no record of me ever freezing my account, and unless I had proof, they wouldn't refund my money. SO, tanner beware - customer service is not important here, and I've cancelled my membership with them for good. read more

I was told by an employee that she won't have anything to say to me until she hears back from corporate about issuing a refund (that she hasn't even spoken to me about), and it's pretty tempting to assume she's hoping I'll forget about it. My experience with PBT is not a great one. I would have given 1 star except for the most part the staff has been somewhat friendly. However, they always ALWAYS pushed products to sell me (I get it, I work in retail) but you would think after the first few "no"'s they would understand to back off a little. I used to tan at a place that is no longer in business that PBT bought out and never had problems. When I went in to get pricing on spray tans I was APPALLED. $45 for ONE spray tan?! I went ahead and got the $65 monthly membership to come in as many times as I want, thank goodness because I literally had to get 2-3 in the course of 2-3 days if I wanted to look tan, and yes, I picked the darkest they had and even paid an EXTRA $5 to get the "double dark", didn't do jack for me. After I got fed up with the spray tans I decided to cancel my membership, but made it too late before they could take out my next month's pay, it went up to like $74 or $75..... what? Anyways it was like a day after they charged me and I asked if I could just exchange for a product or get my money back, they of course said no, but they could switch my membership to a bed package so I agreed. I went ahead and asked how much was the "higher level" beds for a month and Y'ALL. $100 a month to TAN. What the actual heck. Anyways I don't have a particular problem with this location- just the company itself. I would much rather support a more local business than this huge corporate money hole. Bottom line, do not use Palm Beach Tan. read more

By far the best tanning salon in Lubbock, they have the nicest stores and the best beds

I've always had the idea that the girls who work at Palm Beach aren't the friendliest, yet sometimes you can catch a nicer staff depending on the specific location. The locations here in Lubbock seem to have an okay staff.. Most are friendly, yet most are uninformed and tend to rush your process or just drown you until you buy a product from them. Something to be known about Palm Beach is the employee's are not only paid an hourly rate, yet also paid based off commission from product they sell. Even though they don't really have an option to sell product or not because each store has a quota, and there is a competition between managers to have the better store, therefore the managers push their employees to not let anyone leave without a purchase. They are 4 different levels of memberships, and managers tell you to not even give much information to customers about the lowered price memberships. They will also try to say, "only today can i wave your membership fee" FALSE!! THEY ALWAYS SAYYYYY THAT!! What that tells me is that the company isn't so much concerned with their customers and what they can afford, rather than getting the best sell because (commission). The products that the Palm Beach company sell are OVERPRICED, and oversold. Managers will specifically tell you to pitch a product and say whatever you need to get the sell. They also aren't truthful with their customers. For example an employee might tell you, "I'm giving you my special deal", when in reality they over bought the product and need it off their self, or there is a sale going on for that specific location. If you have rewards and an employee sees, a manager instructs you to tell them today only you are getting an extra 25% off (from them) when in reality you already have the discount given to you as a gift from the company. Managers will also post signs saying, "half off today only for *said holiday*", or "I'm giving you a special $10 off" when in reality it's just a promo. You also have the option of getting a spray tan, you can choose between a Mystic and or Versa. Side note: the Versa spray tanning room has the most awful spell, not a spray tan smell, but an awful ODOR!! The Versa is the cheapest option and will essentially work better for specific customers, but does Palm Beach care about that? No. They will pitch the Mystic over and over because it's more expensive and they want to make that (commission). With the spray tans you can get extra bronzers, which are pushed, why you may ask?? Oh, because they push up your price, and can even make your spray tan look worse!! They offer scents with spray tans in packs of (1) or (3), but I overheard a manager specially say, "Don't ask if they want 1 or 3, just give them 3, they don't know the price difference". Ridiculous isn't it? Palm Beach employees care mainly about how much money you spend with them, because their job is at risk if the quota isn't met. The employees consistently will make you feel guilty if you don't buy a product or have a lower priced membership. A snobbish attitude is present throughout the store, and their policies. The stores cleanliness is spectacle, have seen multiple bug traps, beds can be streaky and somewhat sticky, dust collects, towels have stains, and not much attention is placed on sweeping the immense amount of crumbs, and other items that end up on the floor. My main problem with Palm Beach is they are money hungry, and don't place enough emphasis on customer satisfaction rather than making a profit. The memberships are ridiculously over priced for what they are, the employees shove product down your throat every moment they get, the cleanliness is questionable, and the integrity of the employees and the company is severely lacking. I would be much happier supporting local businesses who actually care about their profession and their customers, rather than a corporate company sucking every last penny out of their consumers. The only time I would recommend this salon to others is if they want to feel judged and have their money sucked from their pockets! The motto is "smile", "make a customers day", fat failure. Management staff needs to work on their friendless, keeping the salon clean, and not being so pushy. The convenience of multiple locations is nice, and the reputation of the company could be considered reliable, yet I would still suggest you choose any other salon to tan at than this one. read more

Palm Beach has clean facilities and a variety of bed options. However, their customer service, honesty and integrity is extremely lacking. I travel a lot for my job, so when I started going here, I liked the convenience to "Freeze" my account when I travel and then unfreeze when I'm in town, That's definitely not the case. I froze my account before a month of business trips and later found out I was charged the full amount several months in a row instead of the $7.50 freeze charge. After calling to talk to the manager, she wouldn't even speak to me and let the front desk girl attempt to tell me that they'd give me a free month of tanning, but there was nothing they could do because THEIR computer system didn't reflect the freeze. it's not my fault that their system is faulty and they really should show some integrity and fix their mistakes instead of letting their loyal customers take the $$$ fall. This isn't the only time I've heard about these issues with Palm Beach, so be warned ahead of time that honestly and integrity are lacking with their business. Save your hard earned dollars for a more reputable salon. read more
