This was not supposed to be deep tissue, and I repeatedly asked the therapist to lighten up the pressure- but he really didn't. ...and the same pressure was even applied to bony landmarks-which shouldn't happen. After 4 visits (2 at the original location and 2 at the new) I just can not love it and in fact do not even recommend it to people when they ask where they should go for a spa day or massage. While the service I received was incredible, the ambiance is less than comfortable. Quiet Room is far from quiet, no spa music or spa aroma. Lots of talking. I closed the doors between the two and staff came in and opened them back up. Not a very relaxing place. However the facial was incredible! They even screwed up my check out with another girl with the same name even when I told the clerk my first and last name, and they were aware there were two people there with the same name and still managed to mess it up and called me to collect their extra $10 they didn't charge me. I now have $23 on a gift certificate I'll certainly never use nor would I give to any friends or family as a recommendation to go here. I took a picture of myself In my robe to send to my sisters and captioned "best Christmas gift ever!" as a thank you. My favorite pastime and probably where I spend the majority of my entertainment money, I talked about this for days leading up to anyone who would listen. I had an issue with my massage and my therapist SNEEZING with droplets felt to my back. I was supposed to receive a deep tissue massage, but no matter how many times I asked for more pressure it never came. The therapist sneezed a few times throughout the session, but it wasn't until the end when he actually sneezed on me when I decided maybe the lack of pressure and other sneezes were due to illness. I attempted to bring this to the attention of management since I felt he was ill. I was informed the therapist was sick last week and was now well, "maybe this was just the lingering stuff after you get sick." As former massage therapist and a registered nurse I thought management would correct this sad experience. Instead I was offered 15% off because "you were welcome to leave the massage at any time if you thought he was sick." I didn't think he was sick until the end when his secretions hit my skin. I would never leave the massage because pressure isn't deep enough, I just wouldn't go back to said therapist. I requested to be charged for a swedish massage since I didn't even receive a deep tissue to begin with. When I asked about leaving a tip the response was "you still want to leave him a tip?!" Umm yes, what else am I going to do with this gift card? I responded back that "yes, we all have to pay our bills. I wouldn't leave a waitress zero tip for bad service, so why would I here especially since I'm more upset with management's response over therapist mistakes." I asked for the number for corporate, and she told me I could look it up online. Any other spas in town? To be fair she did attempt to charge $125 (15% off 165 deep tissue plus hot stone enhancement of $15), when I said I thought should be $119 since I didn't get a deep tissue she ended up charging $109 because she (not the dismissive manager) did 15% off the Swedish massage and 100% off the enhancement. David -- remember that name! This was my second visit to this spa. And certainly earned all 5 stars from my most recent visit. This place is very nice, but with massage therapists like David - -it's a no brainer for this spa to earn 5+ stars.... As a same day caller on a typically busy Saturday afternoon, they didn't have time for a facial but they could get me in for a last minute 25min massage at 5:30pm. Let me tell you.... it was one of the BEST massages I have had in a very long time! On to the spa itself...it is in a "nicer" strip mall area. A couple nice stores - -Banana Republic, Sprouts, etc. But apparently Woodhouse Day Spa is actually a small boutique spa chain. Inside the feel is a very warm, soothing home atmosphere. The dressing rooms have tasteful decor, and the relaxation room is very calming (that is, unless you have a noisy little bunch of women in the side party room like I experienced). Note to spa-goers: please be courteous of other patrons trying to relax in the relaxation room. Shhhhhh! :) The therapy rooms again have tasteful decor. The sheets on the massage table are so soft I think they're like 1,000-count sheets... ha! Prices were expected for a spa, $50 for 25 min. The staff is very welcoming and friendly when you walk in. But after my appt the receptionist/cashier asked how I liked my massage. I said... "David was amazing!!"... And she said "We get that often". So there you go... it's not just me. What happened to this wonderful spa? I have been here many times and have always felt very pampered. In past visits I've been given a fuzzy robe, slippers and a locker. My most recent visit was for only a $165 facial plus a $30 tip, so I guess that didn't qualify for all of the special amenities. I was taken directly to the quiet room in my own clothing and had to carry around my belongings. Honestly, I believe everyone should be treated the same, no matter what service they have chosen. Especially considering the amount we are spending in the establishment. At least it is that way in other spas that I have visited. There was also a lady in the "quiet room" talking on her cell phone, very loudly I might add. It was not very relaxing. The facial was very nice. Kallie did a great job, but when I inquired about one of the products she used, I was told they were out of them, so I wasn't able to buy it. Unfortunately this place really was overrated. Unfortunately in Lubbock a lot of things get really good reviews but only because there really aren't any other choices in Lubbock so people settle. I have been to so many spas outside of Lubbock and expected really nice service and a clean environment. I didn't get either. When you walk in it looks great but as soon as you get to the robe and shoes it's clear cleanliness is not their main concern. The shoes look dirty like they haven't been wiped off or cleaned at all. I wore my shoes instead. The robes were brown when they should be white. They have a really dingy look to them. They use to spray them or clean them with an aromatherapy spray which I loved and they apparently have done away with that as well. This place has really gone down. I don't know if it is because of new ownership or management or that they are local, but whatever the case it's gone horrible down. The manager Jason is super rude along with the front desk concierge Emily. She got frazzled and rude for using a gift card I was given because she didn't know how to use it. She tried to tell me they don't accept gift cards. Finally someone with patience finally came to help and it all worked out after 30 minutes at the front desk. I won't be going again! This was my second time here, and I absolutely LOVE Woodhouse! First time I came here I got a pedicure and this time I got the 50 minute Swedish Massage. It's pretty pricey but it is so worth it. You walk in and are greeted by cheerful receptionists. Then you're led back to the changing room and are given a soft robe and slippers. After changing you relax in the waiting room and are provided with a drink of your choice. This time around I got a mimosa as I waited. My masseuse came and got me and we went to a pleasantly lit room that had calming music playing in the background. It was 50 minutes of pure bliss. After my massage, I got cinnamon tea and relaxed in the waiting room before changing to head back to the real world. My experiences here are amazing! I am the most relaxed that I ever am when I'm at Woodhouse. I highly recommend this spa to anyone looking to unwind and relax! read more

Just leaving a review to give some helpful tips to first time goers or to those who are getting a massage for the first time! I booked online for a same day appt, the only availability was 10AM which was fine except I didn't realize that is the first appt of the day. They open their doors at 9:45AM, I had to call and ask because they recommend you come early to fill out paperwork and to have time in the "quiet room." I felt rushed to change and drink my mimosa before they took me back. I had Catrina, who was great! I appreciate that she didn't talk my ear off, as some reviewers stated other therapists did. She is little but has strong hands! She was gentle, but firm where it mattered like my neck shoulders and back! I originally booked for the deep tissue massage but it being my first ever massage I was afraid it would be too rough so I switched to Swedish once I got to the spa. Catrina asked me if I wanted full body or to just focus on stress areas, I chose full body but she said being that I only booked a 50 min massage it made time crunched for target areas. She recommended next time I book for 80min so I can get full body but still have a good 30-40min for target areas! She said I should also be good to get the deep tissue next time since now I know what I like and that I need a lot of work on my neck! She also recommended starting off with hot stones next time too to help loosen up my muscles first! After the massage is over you can go back to the quiet room for as long as you like and have another drink which I took advantage off! A little pricey but I had a gift card to cover the whole cost. I moved to Lubbock 2 months ago and was due for my regular Brazilian wax. Like the previous girl said, you can't risk getting a bad Brazilian so I decided to go here since it looked nice and professional. I really liked the place and the staff. It has a very relaxing armosphere, the waiting room is wonderful, everything is clean and you begin to feel pampered as you wait. Unfortunately, my service was pretty bad. I mentioned to everyone (the receptionist when I made the appointment, I noted it on the sheet you fill out, and I let my technician know) that I have sensitive skin and soft wax makes me bleed. We were doing alright, except that the wax was too hot. She used soft wax for the easier areas and hard wax for the most sensitive ones. Then, as she tried to clean up in the end, she used soft wax where she wasn't supposed to, and I just felt the burn. When she left me alone to get dressed, I noticed that there was a lot of hair left... Why do you pretend to clean up with tweezers if you're not going to take it all off? Also, I found this very rude and unprofessional: she made me bleed! Of course, she made no mention of it or even apologized. But there I was, left with torn, raw skin and patches of hair. I expected a much better service for what they charge and for the image they portray. I was paying a lot less at European Wax Center in Houston, and they ALWAYS did an excellent job. I don't trust Woodhouse for their wax services, they're a mess. I would have liked to love this place :( read more

I have been to the Woodhouse Spa twice - once for a facial and once for a massage. Overall both were pretty lovely experiences. The facilities are very nice. They have a nice quiet room with a fire place where you wait for your services and can relax after you receive them. They also offer a wide variety of drinks while you wait including both alcoholic (white wine, red wine, mimosas) and nonalcoholic beverages (a variety of teas, water). The rooms where you receive services are quiet and very nice. The linens are really luxurious and the beds are warmed. I was happy with both of my services. There are only a few minor things that keep me from giving them a 5-star review. One - if you are getting a facial they don't give you a robe to hang out in the quiet room - you just change in the room before your service. This may sound silly, but hanging out in the robe and slippers is one of my favorite parts of a day spa experience. Also, while the quiet room is nice, I've been to nicer with more lounge type chairs with blankets so you can really relax and wind down after your service. Also, many day spas have a sauna or steam room in the dressing area and the Woodhouse does not. Still, these are all somewhat minor and do not generally detract from a good experience. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Woodhouse if you are looking for a nice, relaxing spa experience. read more

I have been to quite a few spas and have to say the Woodhouse Day Spa beats them all! The atmosphere of the spa is so relaxing, warm and inviting that I would pay to rent the space, just to escape from life. All personnel I came into contact with were very friendly and efficient - and very professional. The robe they had me change into was so warm and soft, it was like cuddling with a hundred puppies! The waiting room was nice and quiet with a lovely faux fireplace, and they had a wonderful beverage selection (they hot cinnamon tea is wonderful!). My masseuse was fantastic and definitely made me feel less stressed! This spa may be a little pricier than others in Lubbock, but you won't get this relaxing and soothing atmosphere anywhere else either. I can't wait until next month to go back! read more

For something a little different, I would recommend a Vichy shower treatment - uniquely refreshing and the only spa in town that offers it. I have used the services at Woodhouse Day Spa for several years & have always been pleased. I had an appointment for a deep tissue massage during my last appointment during my last visit in June & the massage therapist was absolutely terrible. She was very rude & confrontational. After responding to her question about how I like my massage, she proceeded to tell me that she doesn't provide those services (neck, shoulders, & back only - to help relieve TMJ symptoms). She then suggested that I schedule with the previous therapist I used if that specific service is preferred. The therapist I prefer to use happened to be off that day unfortunately. During the massage, she continued to remind me several times that she is the "lead therapist" & criticized her colleague (my preferred massage therapist) for rendering services "outside the box". She never once asked about the pressure of the massage or if I enjoyed the services provided. Overall, it was very painful and uncomfortable. Once arriving to the front desk, the young girl checking me out never once asked about my massage services either so I voluntarily offered to share my awful experience with her. She was speechless and clueless about how to handle the situation. Her colleague approached beside her & asked if she needed assistance & she responded with, "No". I then asked her to check on my next appointment as I wanted to make sure I was not scheduled with the same therapist (I had called the week before to schedule both appointments - the one I had this visit and one for next month). I also had a credit on my account that was given as a gift. The receptionist told me she did not show an appointment scheduled for me in the system for that month. I thanked her and left. I called the spa the next day after gathering my composure & asked to speak to the manager. A nice man took my phone call & seemed very interested & concerned with my situation. I explained all that occurred during my visit and he asked for additional details since the manager was not on duty that day supposedly. The man apologized to me profusely and assured me that this situation would be resolved. He also said the manager would return my call the next day when he returns to work. My massage was on June 30th at 10am. I made the phone call the morning of July 1st & asked for the manager. The review listed above was originally posted on July 13th the same day I received a FB messenger response from the Director of Operations at Woodhouse Day Spa. The message indicated that he could not get in touch with me at the number listed (my phone number). I told him I have not missed any phone calls that I'm aware of and he called me within a few minutes of my response back. I assumed we would agree on a resolution so I removed my initial complaint. Long story short, he seemed concerned and offered a free service and reimbursement for the unsatisfactory services previously received. I called him back a few weeks later after deciding I would not return and requested my $110 credit be refunded to my mom's credit card. I told him I did not care for any complimentary services and would not be revisiting the spa. He said there are no refunds and confirmed this with the owner of the spa within about a 20 minute time span if that. He offered me a gift card with my $110 balance on it to travel anywhere in the U.S. to receive the services I never obtained at the Lubbock location. I told the Director of Operations I would not be returning and have no desire for a gift card to Woodhouse Day Spa. Therefore, my $110 credit will remain indefinitely I suppose. Would not refund my disabled mother's gift card. After i gave her the gift, she became bedridden and could not get the spa treatment. After explaining the issue, i was told she could spend the $220 on products. After serving as a teacher in Lubbock for 30 yrs and surviving polio, you think my mom deservers a little more respect. One employee said the refund was possible but could only be approved by a manager. I guess the manager has no heart or just does not care about people as much as earning a few extra dollars. I love going here to treat myself. It is a little pricey for me, so it's a special occasion place. For birthdays or anniversaries etc. When you go they put you in a robe and offer you wine, juice, etc. while you hang out in a nice and quiet lounge room. Then they will come get you for your service. One year for my best friends birthday, we both got pedicures. We got to have some wine first and then got our pedicures side by side. I've also had a few massages and a facial, all which were great. Maybe I'm not too experienced but in my opinion this is the nicest place in Lubbock to go for spa services. read more
