I came in for a spray tan today. It took 25 minutes for me to simply check in. Only one other patron came in the entire time I was checking in. The lady working kept saying she doesn't know what she's doing. I walked away incredibly frustrated. read more

I've read the horrible reviews and nothing is further from the truth. I've been a member for almost 18 months now and the staff is friendly, funny and competent!, especially Breanna! She's super nice, engages you with her witty banter and is very knowledgeable. That goes for pretty much the rest of the staff. STEER CLEAR- RUDE, ARROGANT STAFF. Each visit, it's one issue after another and yes, due to the arrogant staff I mentioned above, they are completely useless, they are rude to customers- I've witness them be rude to multiple customers myself and I've finally had enough of them being rude to me considering I've been a LOYAL customer for 12+ years. I will take my business elsewhere and I STRONGLY advise you do the same considering the owner or manager doesn't care to train the staff on decent customer service. Disgusting behavior. read more

Had a problem with my card so got a new one and gave it to them 2 times and problem still not fixed. No help but now they want to charge me 59.00 to correct the issue. It's not my fault they just can't fix it apparently. read more

$50 for a spray tan that washed off the next day that's double what I usually pay and it looked awful.

UPDATE: I spoke to Courtney on the phone. She called to inform me that they canceled my membership (she left a voicemail saying this, I returned the call to speak with her). There was nothing else they were willing to do to mitigate this situation or make it better. I got the impression that they just wanted to cancel my membership to get me to go away and shut up. I would have been willing to keep my membership and drive a little further to a different location, but PBT does not seem to care about the events that occurred. This is a shame as I was a very happy PBT customer for a long time while living in CA and would have remained one here for a long time if I had the chance to try a different location or if this situation was mitigated in some way. I suppose it's time to join South Beach Tanning instead. PBT showing a little compassion and willing to problem solve would have made a world of difference. read more

The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable, corporate does not send them the bulbs they need when they need them and give thousands of excuses which means a lot of the beds do not give the best color possible. Seems to me that they bought out their competition and lowered their standards. read more

I purchased a two-pack of spray tans earlier this summer upon arrival which I believed to be overpriced. I also purchased some kind of lotion packet to "extend my color" and was given minimal instruction on how to use it. After my tan, the lotion just sat on top of my skin instead of rubbing in so when I put my clothes back on, it streaked everywhere on my body, sticking to my clothes. I recently went back for my second tan (as I had already paid for it) and was informed that it had expired without notifying me at any point prior. Back to South Beach Tanning I go! read more

If there were zero stars I would select that option. So disappointed in Palm Beach. I have been a customer there for years. No more. I freeze my membership over the winter and recently had my credit card stolen that the store had on file. When I went in in January to unfreeze my membership and give them my new card,I was assured everything was taken care of. Since that time, it has been brought up again that I owe a fee for not paying my bill. I explained again... credit card stolen... it was taken care of..... TWICE this was overridden by different managers. Today when I went in I was told very rudely that I could not tan because of an 18 dollar balance .... went through the entire thing for the fourth time. I just shut down the account and said goodbye. No one really seemed to care. Matthews Palm Beach... you could really use some customer service lessons. read more

Do not get sucked into buying additives and later have to cancel your membership. I pre bought 20-25 additives during a special which they have a cheesy way of maintaining in a white legal envelope stuck in a drawer. I went back to get what i paid for and was handed one set of sticky feet and 3 additives as "there was no way to tell how many were used after I purchased the 25" which is an outright lie since they log you in and track every purchase and visit. J.C. Hammonds is the new Manager and was a complete a**. Steer clear of this business. read more

Overall a very clean and friendly place. I have been a member off and on for years, their prices are pretty good (compared to other large chains) but they will get you with up-selling and of course I give in easily. They have good hours and you can use any of the locations in the country. Overall good deal! read more

Okay, okay, okay I know tanning is bad - but this Cali girl likes to get some color on here and there!!!! But I do tan to keep my eczema in control and tanning does just that. I really like this salon - I checked out other companies near by, but really like this company. The prices are high compared to San Diego (yes San Diegans use tanning salons too), but I can see why. I and I see plenty of people that should get some color - way too transparent. I also like their Mystic for the quick color when needed! Everyone here is very helpful and remember your name and for me, what room I prefer. The rooms, the bathrooms, and overall salon is always very clean and well organized. It makes me happy when I look down at my legs and see color - I was bummed when I moved here because it is just too damn hot to lay out... I miss my beaches. read more

The store is clean and neat. The staff seems to be a little pushy and not as informed as I would hope. I feel that they have a line memorized and although it may not be the truth, still repeats it over & over to get me to purchase stuff. I have had a lot more experience with sunless tanning and lotions and products than they know, so when giving customers a "line" make sure it is at least true. read more

Just moved into town and trying to figure out the area. I rarely tan but occasionally I do (like I was trying to today) for certain occasions- like the best man/ wedding duties I have this weekend. Anyway- explain to the employee guy (6/20 late morning) not interested in a membership, just looking for occasional tans etc. He informs me that "at Palm Beach Tanning we don't really do a lot of individual sessions... bla bla.." kind of in an arrogant way without even working with me on options? I did learn that just one session is $27!! Hilarious! Funny- I just moved from Palm Beach area in Fla and there were some really cool tanning places that would do single sessions for $10-14? Are we in Mathews NC or Beverly Hills? Also- why not cut a first timer to break and get them using you? Maybe they will come back? Anyway- found a cool place in south Charlotte that was perfect. $13 and experienced the "southern hospitality " that I did not get here. read more

This Palm Beach Tan use to be the best one in Charlotte in my opinion. The staff is still very sweet but the bed i was put in on Sunday was T-total crap. The bottom of the bed was so cracked i could feel it in my back as i lay there. The controls did not work at all and the blower would not increase or decrease in control. Afterward, no additional color at all. What a waste of time and money. Good thing there is a Palm Beach on each corner, ill be going anywhere but here from now on! read more

Once again, I go back and it's ALWAYS something. First, let me say I've tanned at Palm Beach for atleast 10 years... I go in this morning on a time limit bc I have to work. There is one person working and she has 5 people in line. She finally checks me in but my bed isn't clean so I wait 10 min for her to get a min to clean it. THEN I get undressed and hit start.. the bed doesn't turn on. I have to get redressed and go out. She starts the bed. I get in and guess what? It's already at 3 min bc it actually started when I hit the start button the first time. So I tanned for 3 min less. No big deal to most but it is to me. Every time I go and have a bad experience I'm writing a review. I'm going to be "that" customer. I'm sick of spending my hard earned money and some it's bs every time I come here. read more

I've been a member off & on for years. Overall I have no issues except when it comes to pushy associates (two in particular). Each time I walk in to tan, I immediately cringe if I see them working the front desk bc I know they're about to bombard me with sales pitches. I get it's part of their job, but when you politely decline, they don't take "no" for an answer. I finally had to tell one girl that I know they work on commission & that I didn't want to buy anything. Her attitude did a complete 180. She was no longer friendly or professional. This is not the first time they treat you like dirt if you don't give in to their sales tactics. They can't do enough for you if you buy something, but if you don't, you're basically dead to them. You're ignored the rest of your visit bc you didn't help increase their paycheck. I honestly think ppl like them are ultimately driving away customers. My mom actually cancelled her membership bc of how they made her feel. read more
