I love Palm Beach Tan... BUT... it seems that they're raising their membership prices too high. They have "lower level" plans, but those beds are very limited, so it kind of makes you have to get the higher priced membership so you actually can get into a bed that's actually maintained properly. My biggest issue is - and this has been an issue for YEARS with no change - their music selection just sucks at this location. There are only 2 stations and each plays crap music (once in awhile you may get a good country or classic rock song). Can we finally get that fixed / updated?? read more

BEWARE Check their math. The district manager "Taylor" was made aware of tricky practices in prices and "specials". Do you check what they are charging you monthly? If you prepay it's 70 more for a quarter. I clarified the amount 3 times. Younger employee came up with 3 different prices. After asking them to use a calculator in front of me to explain they said I will give you 10 free days. Immediately contacted Taylor who Compt me 2 months for the "error" ( it was intentional ) My comp ended two days ago. Renewing I inquired on pricing...After asking 2 times what was my charge she said 49.99 plus tan tax and regular city taxes which would have been no more than 60.00. So I Swiped my card and she charged 83.00. I ask why it was more than she quoted 1 min earlier.. she was very nervous trying to explain it. I gave her a piece of paper and said "do that math for me" she declined and call "TAYLOR". Who offered $10 off. This is stealing. I've never written a bad review but had to. I had called several days prior to get exact pricing on tanning packages. I had previously been a customer and had canceled my membership. I had the girl look up my info over the phone and she assured me that my initiation fee would be waved since I had already paid it in the past. Fast forward to this am, that was not at all the case/ the cost was double what I was told. I was then told I could tan for only 6 min (instead of 15/18...even though I ran regularly. This place is ridiculous. Spray tan is awful. It sprays so unevenly and water drips from above which causes streaks everywhere. The tanning suites are often low oral stocks. The last time I was there is a new in a paper towel to wipe all the excess in the 10 came out horribly. And most recently, they decided to change their business hours and then I'll close at 7 PM instead of 8 PM in the summer months which is very unusual and they did not bother to inform their hair and guess who have monthly memberships. I've been going to this location for years. I get spray tans and the machine is meant to be warmed up before you go inside to be sprayed. The last three times I've gone the machine door has been open before- so the machine can't warm up. It's been legitimately freezing to be sprayed. All the front desk girls have to do to fix this is keep the door closed (like they used to do up until a month ago) and it will be warm again- like the machine is intended to. read more

This location has gone down..... used to run great promotions and deals. Now all they do is try to upgrade your tans and lock you in ACH. Way too much money for beds that usually have at least two bulbs out. Find a better company to tan with, or your local gym. They said store policy was that I had to physically come into the store and do it in person. During the height of the pandemic. Running a small business like a hobby! Every customer counts, except at this facility. I was in over the weekend, my first visit since the take-over of another tanning facility. I was a member of Pro-Tan for years with zero issues and a fully competent staff. This facility is vapid. I had purchased hundreds of points at the former company, which allowed upgrading to better beds. My membership is about $22.00 per month. I have not used it for, I would suspect 8 months. I went in to tan and expected to use my points, only to find out that the hundreds of dollars I spent on them were no longer available. The person said I was notified, however, to the best of my knowledge neither my wife or I were ever contacted. I then stated that I wished to cancel my membership - the clerk at the desk said "Perfect" - how can a business owner tolerate that type of answer? A paying customer - lost, done! I pointed out that this was interesting as the sign on the wall said "we are not happy until you are happy" - I do not think so. Rather, they are happy collecting monthly fees, but not providing services bought and paid for - money already in the bank for them. Given my sparse use, they had a cash infusion of about $260 a year for doing nothing. The lack of business perspective demonstrated by the staff member was amazing. She did call her manager to try to resolve my wife's issue, only to have the response be you can upgrade to a higher priced package, and oh buy the way, the fees you are paying really are not needed for spray tanning. WTF???? Monthly fees that are not needed???? The best was that my wife had spray tanning sessions that she paid for, only to find out that they too, had expired, but could use them if she upgraded. The small business of Pro-Tan knew the value of a customer and how to handle them, Palm Beach Tan obviously does not - they lost two clients who were members for years. Many places provide these services, we will find another and encourage the readers of this review to do the same. read more

FAULTY EQUIPMENT: The aux cord to your phone that are in the beds have been out for over a month. Therefore, you can't listen to your own music.. They do not hesitate to charge you the complete and full amount every month....but they DO NOT REPAIR the equipment on a timely manner, which gives the impression that you are not getting your moneys worth! read more

I wish I less to write but there is no way to be short winded about how many times the ball was dropped in my short one time experience at Palm Beach Tan Shea Blvd. I was lucky enough to go in on a day that a supervisor was "training" - The entire 15 minutes were spent trying to shove products and services down my throat when I clearly explained I wanted a versa and was very familiar with the process. The interrogation was intense on all levels, and it is CLEAR that unless you spend $150 on one spray tan they will not be happy. They spent ten minutes trying to complicate my color choices and sell me services when I continually explained to them that I do not live in Arizona & was just here for a short visit. They then asked where I live to which I replied Seattle & they said "We have locations in Vancouver!!", only a short four hour drive from Seattle.... all to get me to try to purchase a recurring package on what they wanted, not at all listening to the customer. I witnessed this happen with four other customers and cannot believe this business model keeps coming back AND that the supervisor not only encouraged it but actually joined in. I didn't think a simple spray tan could be so complicated, but they managed to make it an extremely stressful confusing situation. When I told the associate the color I wanted, she asked if I wanted a primer (because every word out of her mouth was an attempt to upsell) and when I said no, she literally laughed. That is disgusting customer service and not the way to get anyone to come back. I was with my cousin who also was getting a spray tan, and her associate had a bad attitude when she wanted her change.... That is insane. One spray tan is $50 and two years off your life with the headache. Do yourself a favor and get a spray somewhere else - Honestly, it's worth being pasty on vacation to not have this horrible experience. read more

Palm Beach Tan used to be Darque Tan. Nothing has changed besides the name. And this is a good thing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the beds, lotions, and monthly packages. Best tanning salon in Scottsdale. I would recommend anyone looking for a spa like atmosphere and high quality beds and spray tans to use Palm Beach Tan. They have all sorts of lotions to buy and usually a deal to accompany. The only thing that sucks is that I got burnt the first time I tanned. My fault because I negotiated with the rep to do 5 min instead of 4min. I am as a red as a lobster. Next time I will be more careful but cannot wait to get back! Palm Beach Tan did reach out to me regarding my very negative experience. They have reinstated the spray tans I previous purchased and added a few more to the total available. Definitely the right thing to do to keep a customer and I sincerely appreciate it. I've been a member for about a year and was surprised to read the other reviews about the equipment. I use the Versa-Pro Spray tan and love it! It hasn't worked maybe once the entire time. I bought a package for 5 versa spa spray tan sessions which I was only given 3 months to use. Well I only had a chance to use 2 during sessions During that time so they extended it for a month. Unfortunately, given my hectic schedule, I only could fit one more in during that extension. Basically, My time is up and I have 2 unused spray tans. The 5 tan package cost $170. Since I only used 3, I wasted 2 sessions. So in reality, it ended up that I paid about $58/per Versa spa tan!! The tanning place I used to use before this place bought them out never had a time limit! I'm so upset that I had only 4 months to use my 5 spray tans. I am definitely going to look around for a new place to tan that doesn't restrict u to a time limit. Also the staff is very pushy to sell you a $55 bottle of of pre tan primer. I bought a $12 sample and my tan smeared all over and the tanning solution got all over my close! DO NOT BUY A PRIMER FOR SPRAY TANS! THEY MADE MY TANNING SPOTTY AND IT DID NOT PROLONG TGE TAN AT ALL!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL to anyone!! read more

I was a transferred customer from Pro-Tan. The staff has been friendly and helpful. The place is clean enough. The bathroom is stocked with a few minors to help renew your hair after tanning. While the defunct Pro-Tan at 32nd and Thunderbird was nice too, this new place PBT has a really nice special bed, but it is also the most expensive one. The bed has controls for the type of tanning rays, chosen before you get on the bed. The bed has a lightly scented mist for cooling! Amazing easy to reach buttons inside the bed for controlling the face tanners, the spa-style music trac and volume, easy visual of the timer, and an on/off button. After using this pricey bed for a year+, I've found the bed's awesome scented cooling mist is empty all but 3 weeks of the last year. I noticed the tanning bulbs have not been changed (just the face tan bulbs), and I barely get color now. This bed gets more use than any other bed in the place, you'd think they'd maintain bed and REPLACE bulbs with the use this one gets. My expensive 10-tan package will be up soon and I'll prolly be looking for another tanning company. I will miss the bed, but apparently it has already seen and passed it's glory days with the lack of maintenance. read more
