I've been going to Palm Beach Tan for almost 5 years. During that time, I've canceled my membership once for only a few months, and then came back 18 months ago, paying for the second to most expensive tanning package that they offer consistently. I recently received an anniversary email giving me 50 tan dollars to use on many things including, upgrades, per the email. I went in immediately and bought a 30 day membership upgrade with part of the tan dollars. I asked the gal if I should buy two packages to use up the tan dollars since they're $25 each, and she said that I should wait until the first 30 days are up because she didn't think that buying a second 30 day upgrade would work in a way to, ultimately, extend the upgrade to 60 days. Most recently, I went in a second time to use up the remainder of the 50 tan dollars to upgrade for another 30 days. I was then told that tan dollars are not to be used for upgrades. I showed her the email where it states that I was allowed to use them for upgrades and after a phone call to her manager, she told me that the first gal that helped me made a mistake because she was new and that the manager does not allow this, but she'd let me use part of them to upgrade a second time as long as I paid for half of the upgrade (so ultimately losing tan dollars, and paying $15 in addition to my monthly membership). I then told her that I'd like to cancel my membership, but was told that I wouldn't be able to use the remainder of the tanning membership that I've already paid for, as the cancellation becomes effective immediately. In summary, I have paid close to $100 a month for almost 5 years, tan once a week, received an email that I had $50 incentive credit for being a loyal customer, but never really could use it to the extent that it was advertised for "because the manager said so", and if I decided to cancel my membership altogether, then I'd lose the additional money that I've already spent for the upcoming month's membership. Lack of consistency? Lack of transparency? False advertising? I'd say so. Seems shady all around. Needless to say, I drove down the street to a newer, more professional salon, which appears to strive on integrity, and will be tanning there once I use up the remainder of what I've paid for and then cancel my membership at Palm Beach Tan. I would like to mention that the gals who have helped me at Palm Beach Tan have been very pleasant. It was obvious that they were only doing as they were directed to do per their manager. On a side note... nowhere on either the email or the sign posted in the salon does it state that tan dollars cannot be used for upgrades (see pictures). read more

They need to find a new way of cancelling memberships. I told the front desk that I wanted to cancel my membership in December. She said that it was all taken care of. Come to find out, my husband asked if I was still tanning because he saw that $80 was coming out every month. I called and told them that I had told the front desk lady I wanted to cancel and they informed me that it wasnt in writing so they couldnt refund my money. They did try and make things right by giving me the next 3 months with no additional charge, but I walk dogs outside, and do not need a tanning bed. I'm now out $80 times 5 months. Be careful of any place that has memberships. If I ever tan in the distant future, I will be finding a place that charges per tan. read more

I have the spray tan membership and love the membership. Tan color is good and being able to pit on hold for a super small fee in the winter is awesome. I cannot give more than 3 stars though as the room is more often than not, not fully stocked. They forget the towels, they are out of hair nets, and/or paper towels are empty. In general the staff os also not super friendly or helpful. if you can get past that though, the spray tan is pretty good and a great deal if you like to spray frequently. read more

I do really love this place, but I showed up a half hour before closing and it was closed. Certainly I appreciate holiday hours, but do they really start Friday night? And the posted sign simply said Labor Day Hours Closed...no specific hours listed...I suppose it's so they can put it up when they decide to go home! But they didn't go home...they stood in the lobby chatting and playing with a dog so I don't know why I couldn't tan while they hung out? Or if you want to start the weekend early, why are you hanging out at your work???? Guess the employees here really respect Labor Day--not too much labor for them! read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life . This place is a total scam ! I froze my account because I got pregnant and I ended up moving and never had a chance to come cancel my membership. Long story short I accumulated over $100 in tan dollars and they wouldn't let me use my tan dollars (MY store credit that I PAID for) unless if I reactivated my account . I was either FORCED to pay $60 for a month of tanning that I wouldn't even be able to use because I live 2 hours away or just cancel my membership and my tan dollars go to waste . Sad thing is I used to be an employee at PBT and my salon would never be so unsympathetic. This salon cares more about their commission then customer service. read more

The salon itself is actually 4-5 stars - clean, modern, and well-kept with wonderful staff working in the front as well. Lovely in many regards! But...sheisty customer service. Similar to another person, I could've sworn I came in and canceled my membership in December. Last month, I noticed a recent charge pulled from PBT and went in and talked to the lady running the counter. Again, super sweet and gave me the owner's email to further discuss the cancellation/recent charge. Super blown off by her. I was planning on returning after I had my baby, but so unimpressed with the customer service, so I'll be looking for a new salon. read more

I have been coming to this location for a while now. The staff is always friendly and helpful and lets me know of deals I have on my account. I have had to "extend" my spray tans multiple times and the management is always very accommodating. Abby and the rest of the ladies are the best. I purchased a tanning package for my wedding in July of this year. It was 10 individual tans. I paid to tan in a higher level of bed so that I wouldn't have to tan as long. I went in to use the remainder of my tans less than 6 months later and they are no longer accessible to me because they had expired. I get emails from palm beach religiously. None of them have notified me that my tans are expired or that they were expiring soon. I feel as though my money was stolen given the lack of communication. No one told me they would ever expire. Which is why I bought a package rather than a monthly membership. I do not tan regularly and I wanted to have them when I needed them. I will be tanning at slick rock forever more. read more

They screw you whenever they have a chance. I paid for a whole month at platinum level. You have to freeze your account or decided to downgrade before the 25th of the month. If you want to downgrade a level they punish you. you lose out on your higher level tanning from the 25th on that you already paid for! I tried to get them to explain why I don't get to tan in the beds that I already paid for and there response is "I don't know, it's corporate, I can't do anything about it." You can now only use your tan bucks to buy lotion. Before you were able to use them as tan upgrades or to purchase tan specials. Nope, not anymore. I used to enjoy going here but now they try and get you anyway they can. Pretty sad to see customer service like this.. read more

Employes have no idea what they are saying. will tell you one thing one time, then say the complete opposite the next time. Gave we wrong information about canceling my account and now because of that I'm gonna have to pay for services I'm not even using because I'm under contact? I didn't sign anything so no I'm not under contract. The worst tanning experience I've ever had. Yes they are pricey but if it's worth it the price doesn't matter, but Palm Beach is not worth it not a single penny!! Never gonna recommend this to anyone. I went to cancel my membership as per the "manager" stated to do by June 26th So that I would not be charged for the following month. The incompetent manager then told me it was to early to cancel and I had to pay for July or pay another 40$ after I already paid 130$ for 38 days. She told me there was no one else to speak to. After calling around I spoke with the owner who said, "I have to give my manager the benefit of the doubt" I then told her ok, we can do this the hard way then. She then told me she would cancel membership. Horrible place with horrible service and low quality products for the price. Do not go here! DO NOT GO HERE! FYI same owner for all 3 spokane locations. Do NOT go to palm beach tan!!!! And for a level 4 membership (expensive) the northside location only has 1 bed at that level. 70$ per month for 1 bed that burns your eyes. No thank you. They aren't customer service oriented. They have a plague on the wall that states if you are not satified your money back. Well they charged my credit card over $177 in a month after I told them I wanted to cancel and I couldn't because of the date I signed up. They told me it's like a club membership. Well I can tell you that It will be posted on twitter today that will hear a earful about your tanning salon. Finger print please. How inpersonal is that. You should get to know your customers, that are paying your bills. Even after I cancelled my credit card they got a hold of bank card services and charged me again. I paid $188 for both my husband and I to go for 45 days, then told I couldn't cancel. Bullshit. Wasn't given a copy of what I signed up for or even when I cancelled. If I could give less than a one I would. Palm Beach basically screwed me over. They refused to cancel my account when I called in, I then went into the location and they still refused to cancel my account until it was past the 8th. They took 80$ off my card a month in advance. Said I couldn't get my money back because I didn't cancel before the 25th. I have still yet to cancel because everyone keeps giving me the run around. I have had my account for 3 months. They have taken a total of 240$ off my card and I've only gone tanning 10 times in those 3 months. It's a joke. And no one seems to want to return my call. The customer service sucks. The only good thing about this place is the tanning beds but it's seriously not worth the money or the hassel. read more

I purchased a package that you had 7 days to use. I went in on Friday purchased the tan and also used my first tan. I went again on Monday then Wednesday, I should have 1 more day to tan, right!!!! We'll I guess you only get 6 full days because they told me that it was expired after my tan on Wednesday??? I talked to a girl that Thursday morning about it, she looked me up and agreed with me, said corporate I trying to reword the special and she has had many complaints about it. I was told to talk to the manager because because she would give me a free tan and take care of me. The manager is SHITTY!!!!!! All she did was argue with me, she offered me a free tan after I told her I won't be back and I will let everyone no how you do business!!! In the middle of getting divorced, I had to cancel my debit card. I called and told the girl what was going on and I wasn't going to probably be in for a couple months. she says "that's no problem! I can put your account on hold, or you can come down to the salon, sign something and have the account cancelled for $8" I asked her to put it on hold, Which she said she had. I go in two months later because somehow they found my new card information and started charging me again. Figured, ok might as well go in. But when I get there she says I owe them 2 months back pay for the last two months I DIDNT TAN, I told the girl working about what I was told and she wouldn't stop rolling her eyes. She calls the manager and says "she just doesn't get it, i'm explaining everything, she just doesn't get it".. while continuing to roll her eyes every fricken sentence. She didn't care to acknowledge the fact I was LIED TO. and refused to tell her manager that part as well on the phone. Which makes me thing she is the one that lied to me in the first place.
