I was disappointed they didn't have lemon curd for the scones, but the raspberry preserves was very good. We were stuffed after the sandwiches and still had much to eat ahead! Went here from a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. We went on a Monday at 12:30pm and it was not busy, maybe eight tables total so we had more than ample attention from the wait staff. They were all super friendly, very courteous, and extremely attentive. The finger sandwiches were tasty, but the desserts were even better. Arrive hungry! The tea was also excellent! We loved the Thai tea and then Peppermint one. Very potent and delicious. I would definitely do this location again for high tea! Had some afternoon tea - they have a few caffeine free options, which I'm very grateful for - and were all delicious. Not your run of the mill chamomile. Sandwiches came first - a salmon mousse situation, egg, cucumber, and a spicy chicken. Was all delicious - fav was the salmon. Then had desserts - various sweets, some sweeter than others, so was a good variety. Then the scones and fruitcake - clotted cream and the strawberry jam was delicious. Love love love!!! To start, this place is so picturesque, with warm gold decor, amazing staff, beautiful plating. Right outside the dining area, there was a harpist placing musical numbers from Les Mis, Wicked, and classical pieces that made the experience incredibly charming. The Ritz and the Palm Court know how to do atmosphere perfectly. This was my first time doing afternoon tea and I could tell how every bite was intentional and thoughtful. I ate here quite a few times and every day for breakfast when I stayed at The Langham. The food was always delicious and enjoyable. The staff were exceptional and the ambiance was definitely elegant. It truly was a nice experience dining here. One of the days I ate breakfast here I had the Full English and it was superb, even the black pudding, of which I am normally not too keen. They even had Asian congee for breakfast, which I tried on another day and again it was quite delicious. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to try the Afternoon Tea, which is probably what they are known for, but I hope to try it someday. read more

By far the best Afternoon Tea experience We've had. From the moment we walked through the door we were treated like royalty. They seated us in front a live Pianist, which was perfect and added to the ambience. They provided a stool for our pocketbook and pulled out my chair every time I got up to use the restroom. Our server Alex was incredible; excellence is what comes to mind when I think about the service he provided. The level of attentiveness and engaging personality he brought to our table was outstanding. Now the food: The tea sandwiches were so scrumptious, that they provided us with extras of our choosing. My favorite was the smoked chicken, the cucumber cream cheese, and the cocktail prawns. I paired it with the Langham blend which was malty and so smooth, that I drank it without milk. Pastries and scones was served next; we were still in awe of how delicious the sandwiches were that we neglected our scones. But no worries here comes Alex insisting on bringing us fresh warm scones, because he wanted us to have an authentic experience. We were slowly coming down from our sandwich and pastry high only to be elevated again by these delicate yet firm buttery scones. To top it off, Alex surprised us with complimentary pours of sparkling rosé. Lovely and relatively calm place for afternoon or high tea. The room is modern meets art deco and during the holidays it's quite festive with a huge gingerbread mansion front and center. The scones and clotted cream were some of the best I've ever had, and the tea was lovely. You will want for nothing with the service and the magnitude of detail and tastiness packed into a few lovely hours. If you time it for later in the day, you will enjoy their traditional Champagne Charlie toast. As I finished my tea, my boyfriend joined me and had an actual meal. Ihigh tea service is definitely a must do if you are in the London area. Since we were staying at the langham hotel, we opted try this place. When we made reservations, we told them that we had a few dietary restrictions and I myself am vegan and gluten-free. They said it was no problem at all and the chef can make a variety of items to accommodate so we proceeded with the reservation and was excited to try this place. When we were seated, it took nearly 15 minutes before anyone greeted us before we had to get up and ask for our server. The service was quite slow to begin and we had to flag down a few different servers before ours ended up coming to us. The options for the sandwiches and Tea snacks were decent but not what I was expecting. When my gluten free vegan ones came out, they were all smothered in hummus with just cucumber or pepper and lacked imagination, creativeness or any kind of thought other than just hummus. To my disappointment, I asked the manager if they can speak to the chef and incorporate other things into the sandwiches such as may be a pea purée, a vegetable of some sort or maybe some grilled vegetables, vegan cream cheese with the jam, just anything other than just hummus! There was even hummus on just lettuce cups. I was disappointed that I was giving the chef ideas on what should be more of a variety instead of just hummus between gluten-free bread. The sweet snacks included some decent ones like the rice pudding. On the regular tea sandwiches and high tea sweets, my partner was not impressed with any of them and took a bite and opted out of getting anymore which is a rarity because he has quite a sweet tooth. As soon as you walked in to the foyer of the hotel to enter the Palm Court, you are stepping into beauty and luxury. It is a very welcoming and relaxing place with plush art deco. You cannot go wrong with the Wedgewood Afternoon Tea (with complimentary glass of champagne, booked through afternoontea.co.uk) Of all the luxury places I have been to so far to indulge in afternoon tea, this is by far the best. The service is excellent and the sandwiches are fresh and not your usual sandwiches. I like the specialty sandwiches, each one is something to savour and explore, and then you can have more! I really liked the truffled duck egg brioche, and the corn-fed chicken and golden sultana on carrot bread. The warm scones are really good too with nice thick Devonshire clotted cream, and of a good size, one plain and one with fruit. The selection of pastries and cakes are absolutely exquisite, and looks too good to eat. After having our fill of sandwiches and scones, we just could not eat any more and we were able to pack these away in lovely take away boxes to enjoy later. They also start you off with a Lemon Posset with strawberries to whet your palette, and there is a large choice of blends of teas to choose from, something for every taste, and even decaf, not just a herbal or fruit alternative when you ask for decaf, We never felt hurried even though there was a 2 hour sitting requirement. As a special treat, this is ideal. And if they know that you are celebrating a birthday, out comes a special birthday cupcake accompanied by the pianist playing the happy birthday tune. read more

We were seated quickly and promptly and the tea was chosen from a vast menu and after a few minutes of brewing time (explained to us in advance) it was brought over. I had booked this just a week in advance and included a note about how we were celebrating a birthday, and they brought out a special birthday cake afterwards for us before we were about to leave, and the exceptionally good pianist played us a rendition of Happy Birthday as the cake was presented. Top marks all round. It's expensive, but it's as good as it gets. If you are choosing where to come for Afternoon Tea, I can't recommend this place highly enough. The only, only, only negative for me was that the tea seemed to be quite weak, but perhaps that's my Brummie tastebuds being unaccustomed to the subtle flavours. Or perhaps it's too much milk. I'd never had high tea in London before so I did plenty of research before I zerod in on the final decision. I was visiting London for a few days and wanted an afternoon tea with a non-traditional menu in plush surroundings. Everything on the Bijoux menu sounded ridiculously good, so my sister and I went with high expectations. Everything from the tea to the food was excellent. The tea sadwiches were all prepared on different flavored breads and all had good fillings other than the usual cucumber or smoked salmon. One thing to note is if you are used to American scones - don't expect the English ones to be the same. These were far sweeter and a lot softer. The mini desserts on the top tier were almost too pretty to eat. Of course they always look better than they taste. But all the details were too cute to miss. The theme of the tea was designer jewels so even the mini pieces of jelly or sugar garnishes were cut in the shape of precious stones. The pink Chanel stamped chocolates were too pretty to eat. The huge drawback though was the service - it did not match the price tag. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated (even after having made a reservation months in advance) and were waiting almost half an hour just get a menu! I am not exaggerating. The first 15 minutes were fine but then it becomes ridiculous. And even after placing our order just our tea alone took forever to arrive. We tried not to have it spoil the afternoon since we looked forward to this event for such a long time. However the lack of good service definitely put a damper on things. Not the free flowing service we had anticipated. (1 star for service) Look forward to good tea and accompaniments but don't expect to get spoiled. read more

There is nothing more sophisticated than Afternoon Tea at Palm Court in the Langham, so I figured where better for a sophisticated female much like myself to grab some amazing tea, and see what this afternoon tea malarkey was about! Rocking up to the Langham in a dress and shoes, yes I put in a lot of effort for this; I was amazed at its outer beauty, having seen it every day from my office I didn't expect to be so impressed! If you're ever around Oxford Circus I'd take a look! Stepping inside we were escorted to Palm Court, and it smelt simply divine. My work colleague was right, I'd never want to leave. Our table was so cute and very well laid out. I instantly felt at home with our waitress and the delights she had to offer us! We obviously got the original cucumber sandwiches, which we were out of this world, and a few others including egg, chicken and salmon. We even went for second helpings as they were all too tasty. Secondly we were brought up a selection of scones, and as a newbie to these traditional yummies, I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing they were. I'd always thought they were stale, odd looking cakes, but no, I had been wrong for many years! The cream and jam were just amazing too! I had to stop myself from eating a second as I wanted room for desert. Wow, is all I can say about the last course, such cute little cakes, with popcorn and sparkly icing, I had never seen anything like them. They were so good our lovely waitress even made us a goodie bag to take home. To top it all off, the pianist played Happy Birthday to my mother, whilst she got a divine chocolate and caramel brownie to delve into! Such good service! Our group of four had a great afternoon here. The egg mayo with shaved truffle sandwich was a particular hit, as well as the coronation chicken sandwich. The scones were fantastic. We also went through 5 different teas between us and enjoyed trying the various blends on offer. The pianist was really good and played a mix of Broadway tunes and old 80s/90s pop songs which was fun. As other reviewers have noted, this is truly one of the best fancy afternoon teas in London and the service was stellar. One star taken off because of a mix-up in tea pots and new vs used tea cups and the 2 hour deadline warning. I understand that restaurants need to turn their tables and that we had booked for a 2 hour seating but there must be a better way to enforce it than trying to rush you along. The staff here were discreet and very nice about it but still.... Maybe they should have come around earlier rather than 10 mins before? The Langham Hotel was rated to be the top place to have high tea by British Tea Guild (whatever that means) last year. The "Palm Court" room welcomes its visitors with a slightly tacky Art Déco flair, with massive chandeliers and silver-coloured walls. It looks grand, but the decorations (glitzy balls and silver stucco) stuck to the wall could have been reduced which would have allowed the architecture to come through more nicely. However, entertainment is provided by the Langham's in-house pianist, which adds nicely to the atmosphere. The dress code seemed fairly relaxed and I was feeling slightly overdressed wearing a jacket and tie. There are different "packages" on offer for high tea, including the top offer setting you back 56 GBP (which does not even include the bubbly). The choice of tea is quite large, but several of the more interesting teas cost extra (sometimes as much as 20 GPB), so if you are really going for it, you could easily spend around 100 GBP. The choice of sandwiches was really nice with extravagant ingredients such as foie gras and an outstanding piccalilly spread. The sandwiches come as wraps, string pastries and mini baguettes which is nice diversion from the dull sandwich bread so often served at other venues. Considering the price, at least sandwiches were re-stocked and one could have as many as one fancied. The scones were served warm, but a spread different from the slightly boring strawberry preserve would have been appreciated. The cakes were nice, but a bit dull as well especially since the choice and quality of pastries in my opinion differentiates a good from a great afternoon tea venue. Staff was very friendly but quite slow which may have been due to the size of the room. That in my opinion was quite disadvantageous since we were only given a 1 hour 45 minute time slot and wasted the first 40 or so minutes waiting for the orders and the arrival of the sandwiches. All in all a nice experience with nice food (especially the sandwiches, the rest not so much), but considerably overpriced for what you get. Service could have been improved as well. read more

Out of all the Afternoon teas I enjoyed, this dining room was the most beautiful save the gorgeous waiters at Apsleys. I loved the tea towers that house all the tasty treats. The scones here were amazing: served warm with the usual accompaniments of clotted cream and strawberry preserves. The tea here has a distinctive pink theme - it takes a very comfortable man to indulge here. My only issue was a small snafu with my bill - they charged me for three champagne teas when we had the classic afternoon tea. It took them forever to fix it. Having thoroughly let down my little posse of friends who revel in the clotted cream and muffin side of life by taking them to Bea's of Bloomsbury (bleurgh and yuk) I had much to live up to. Having heard that the Palm Court at the Langham hotel had been renovated I decided to go all out, roll deep and swim in the clotted cream there. This is apparently the place where the high tea, the afternoon food stuffing, was invented by some ladyess and it seemed only fitting to go back to basics. And by basics I mean silver, effusive French service, refinement and beauty, perfect cake after perfect cake, sumptuous sandwiches never ending and pitch perfect tea. Basically Palm Court wins, the most superior of the cream teas I have had for a long while (hands down trounces that tourist trap Fortnum & Masons). The best bit about it all is the time, when I rang and asked for a table they said that unfortunately they were very busy and I could only have the table for two hours. I laughed at this thinking who needs more than an hour to eat some assorted sandwiches and stuff. So so so wrong. As we settled into our seats and forced creamstuffs into our mouths I could have spent much much longer. Next time I get the champagne. Price - £ about £40 a head with service. However, this is not a tea, this is a late breakfast, combined with a lunch and a donation towards your supper as well. read more

I was apprehensive, and not sure how kid friendly the experience would be. But it was perfectly orchestrated for them! They had a book trolley that the girls visited several times, they got to drink strawberry tea, and interact with their food. Whoever designed the menu and experience must be an expert in child development - because it was very developmentally appropriate. The staff was very kind and understanding, let the girls have more of anything they wanted, indulged multiple requests for different beverages (they offered fresh squeezed juices, hot chocolate or strawberry tea. Ah, i was so disappointed in this...when you are spending 70lbs for afternoon tea + a glass of champagne you would think the service would be better, the food would be better...It was just a very underwhelming experience when you compare this to the four seasons in the UK. This isn't as luxurious...everything was sort of plain. The champagne was good. The sandwiches just weren't anything special....i had maybe like 4-5 then moved onto the dessert which was just WAY TOO SWEET. I nibbled and did not get seconds... the tea was okay, i got the regular black afternoon tea which is always good then switched to the 90th anniversary tea which i didn't care for. The woman that was pregnant..oh wow, she did NOT want to be there! She looked soo miserable and ignored us when we tried to wave her to get our server. Our server was very nice but i don't know where she was most of the time. The piano player is a nice touch, but he left before afternoon tea ended which was a shame.
