Dislocation presented to me as a place I must go to! So I have to say it disappointed a little. First they announced it today was cash only which I had cash, luckily. Second service was lacking. I had scones which were quite delicious. served with jam which I wanted to buy. But they don't sell. I had the egg Florentine with hollandaise and smoked salmon. I like that it was very little hollandaise, but it was just OK.
It had been over ten years since we last visited the Muffin Man Tea Shop, and we were delighted to find that it's still around (and thriving)! We walked over from the National History Museum - a brisk 20-minute walk - and arrived after 2 PM. The tea shop was full, but we were the first group in line. After waiting for less than ten minutes, we were seated at a cozy table by the window. Hungry from our day at the museum, our group of four ordered two afternoon tea sets that came with three types of tea sandwiches, scones, and mini cakes. To pair with these treats, we ordered the classic Muffin Man tea (English Breakfast tea). Instead of Prosecco, we opted for freshly-squeezed orange juice. The orange juice was brought out first, followed by our selection of tea. Our server then managed to squeeze both tea set towers on our tiny table. While not as fancy as other tea services we'd seen around London, the Muffin Man's afternoon tea provides a great value without the extra frills. The tea was delicious, and the buttery scones (plus clotted cream) were the best we'd enjoyed on our trip. The tea sandwiches were standard and did the job, but the mini desserts were overly sweet and forgettable. While the afternoon tea was satisfying, I would be just as happy with a couple of scones and some tea. Before leaving, we purchased a bag of the Muffin Man loose leaf tea to enjoy at home. I'm so glad that the Muffin Man Tea Shop remains an institution in London. I hope to be back soon.

This corner location is near the Holiday Inn and Copthorne Tara hotels and is close to the High Street Kensington Underground station. We were sat and served promptly. There was a queue at the door, but everyone sat quickly. Ordering went quickly, and food and tea were on the table before we knew it. It is a lovely place, and we recommend it while in the Kensington area of London.
This was from 2019, on my London trip, but I wanted to bring it to light still that the lady who attended me at the time was really nice and allowed me to take a look at the place (interesting decor to look at) before seating me. I wanted the most typical, British classic as they're known for, but have always wanted to basically have a small personal tea party, so I went with their tea and crumpets which to me were perfect, soft, yet toasty, warm, along with the delicious tea and a slice of their cheesecake they have available.
One of my highlights from London is visiting this tea shop. The wait is absolutely atrocious (40 min-1.5 hours!) in the rain but I promise you the scones are worth it. I got the scone set with the choice of the shop's English tea mix and it was a delightful pairing. APPARENLTY the locals have a debate what goes first on the scone - clotted cream or jam - and based on the pictures you can guess which side I'm on. English breakfast set is very filling and at a good price. As an American, my taste buds need salt in every meal so the Eggs Benedict was slightly lacking in flavor but the bacon was crunchy. I left feeling very full and with a food coma. Overall the place is very quaint with an intimate interior, characteristic of old English charm. I had the pleasure of dining under queen Elizabeth II's photo, and like it is written under it... "We will meet again".
My husband and I came in for an early afternoon tea on a Friday. We arrived around 11:30 and waited about 30 minutes for a table. The line is outside, but there is an awning if it's raining. We opted for the Afternoon Tea for 2, which also comes with two glasses of Prosecco. For only £35 total, that has to be one of the most affordable teas in London. I enjoyed the tea and food selection. This was my first afternoon tea, but I enjoyed the experience at The Muffin Man. They do not take reservations. Also, I was dressed in jeans and a sweater and felt appropriately dressed for afternoon tea!
This proper tea shop is quite small, so you might end up lining up (queuing) outside the front door. They don't allow you to wait for a table inside. I could imagine that rainy days are less desirable (or maybe good days, no li es) to come! We had tea with scones and tea cakes. I'm in love with their scones and Devon cream. They melt in your mouth. You can also order traditional tea sandwiches (cucumber, smoked salmon...) I had the tomato soup. Not very tasty for this New Yorker. It needed a whole lot more salt and seasoning. Just fair warning. Quite bland, but maybe that's your vibe. Not judging. The wait staff certainly hustled and rotated the tables as quickly as they could, but people do linger here. We didn't feel rushed during our meal, but then again, neither did the people sitting at their tables while we stood outside on the sidewalk waiting. Two sides of the same coin, right?
This place was conveniently located near the hotel. I was happy to see that the reviews here were pretty good for an affordable breakfast in the area. The first time we attempted to go their credit card reader was down. They only accepted cash so we went the next day and the credit card reader was working, so make sure to ask if their credit card reader is working if that is your form of payment. When we arrive, there were a few people waiting outside to be seated. This place is packed in the morning due to their affordable large portions of breakfast, but we didn't wait to Long only about five minutes to be honest and we were greeted by the host and seated at a table near the window. It is a bit small And table are close together inside, but you can try to make some space for yourself, Try to get as comfortable as you can, as it is well worth it for the price. I had the muffin men breakfast which came with scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, beans, coffee, and fresh orange juice. I also ordered a side of fruits that came with blueberries and strawberries, which were delicious not sour. My grandmother had the salmon and eggs with toast and American coffee. Everything was filling and delicious. Staff was friendly, and bathrooms were clean.
Conveniently located near the tube, so we stopped in for breakfast. I ordered a veggie omelet, porridge, and a pot of Earl Grey tea. The porridge was perfect -creamy and cooked well. I can't usually stomach egg omelets, but this one wasn't too greasy and I enjoyed it. The tea was excellent! My friend ordered something different, but really loved the tea blend she got. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the prices and food are great! Mixed review on the staff, a few of the employees were really friendly, but the server who took our order was not. My friend tried to ask for a recommendation, but she just walked off. Place is cash only, so make sure you have some pounds.
I got the afternoon tea set for one plus scones and it was so filling! The scones were perfect but feels like the sandwiches are a bit dry. You get to choose a cake and tea based on your personal preference. It's a very small place so be warned that you will likely bump next to people and the day I went, they only take cash so be ready that their POS system might be down.

Food was good. Nice cozy neighborhood atmosphere. They do run out of selections so come early. Usually a wait and line. Service was prompt though staff seems stress with steady line of clients am waiting. read more
I really enjoyed my experience at the Muffin Man. We were originally planning to wait for drop-in at another tea shop about a five minute walk away, but maybe due to weather they said they have no room for walk-ins and the waiter kindly recommended us to go to The Muffin Man instead. We were a little hesitant about going there when the outside doesn't really look very nice... but we were pleasantly surprised with the pricing and food quality! The afternoon tea for 2 was only £38, comes with 3 sandwiches, scones, desserts, tea, and champagne! Sandwiches were good, we tried the salmon, egg, and ploughman's sandwiches with our set. All of the sandwiches were delicious, seasoned well. The scones were fresh and very buttery. I didn't like the desserts though... they looked pretty but lacked in flavor. Overall a good experience. I would come back again and try their other items on the menu. read more

Tea time here is the best! Very affordable and you get everything that you need - sweet and savory! You leave full! This place is very popular, always a line to get in but worth it. It's very quaint and cozy! The service is great and staff is friendly! read more
Very nice, small tea shop in the Kensington part of London. Everything was freshly prepared and tea was lovely. My only qualm, and maybe it's an American thing, but the scones were so small! They were tasty, but I was left wanting more. read more

I'm from New York and this was my first experience of an "English breakfast." We bad the muffin man breakfast with chicken sausage and earl grey tea. Also ordered a goat cheese and sun dried tomato panini which was really good. read more

Nice place to relax with some tea and snacks. The teas were quite good, but the scones were really excellent, definitely the highlight of the meal. We also got some sandwiches, which were good but didn't stand out particularly. Overall quite recommended! read more

I was on my own in London for breakfast, so I thought I'd try this cute little cafe just down the road from my hotel. So glad I did! I had a traditional English breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs, a sausage, and beans...plus all the fixings! The tea was perfectly brewed. Such a cute little shop, simply decorated, but very clean. The service was adequate (not 5 star worthy though). Prices were actually very reasonable for the amount of food you get! I would recommend you giving them a try! read more

I found this place charming and cozy. It was only a block from our hotel and the Concierge recommended it. The scones and clotted cream with strawberry jam were the stars of the show, but I found the citrus ginger tea to be fresh and a bit savory. read more

Discovered this little gem by accident, and proceeded to go for breakfast every day of our visit thereafter. The scones with Devon cream are like nothing I'd ever tasted. Fresh and delicious. I'm American and know nothing about tea, but throughly enjoyed my pot of English Breakfast. The Eggs Benedict dishes looked delicious but we didn't order them. The poached eggs on toast were exactly as you'd expected--fresh and delicious. read more

I would give 5 stars, but my server was not engaging at all. I don't think she wanted to be there, and I know we all have bad days, but I didn't even see her smile at her co workers. The food was delicious (BLT and chips) and the rosè Prosecco, cold, and I didn't have to wait long. I saw several tea set ups with desserts and sandwiches and they looked amazing. It's a super cute interior and they have a wonderful selection of cakes behind a case. I will def return, hoping to see Viola in a better mood read more

Super short weekend trip meant breakfast upon arrival. We both had the Muffin Man breakfast. Great to get the full English breakfast. Service was prompt and food came out quickly. Cute tea shop where you may have trouble finding seating depending on the amount in your party and/or time of day you're visiting. In the end, this place has a special place in my heart because it was the very first time, ever, that I tried crumpets. The crumpets were so amazing and perfect that I came again the next day and indulged in some more crumpets! Anyways, onto specifics, since it was my first time here at any sort of tea shop, my sister and I ordered a few things to share. We ordered: two portions of two buttered and toasted crumpets (1.65 lbs -- how the heck do I do the pound sign on the keyboard?), two jams, pot of tea for two -- the Muffin Man blend, tomato soup, and scrambled eggs with bacon. In the end, mostly everything was mediocre except for those perfect crumpets (although my sister raved about the tomato soup which I didn't end up trying). The scrambled eggs and bacon I could've done without (especially since I was craving American bacon and it was the exact opposite). If you ever visit here, you would do well with just ordering crumpets, one jam (one jam serving can actually be shared between two people), and tea. Except the tomato soup if you're a fan of tomato soup, my sister is still raving about it. read more
Such a cute little shop for a cream tea. The seating is *very* tight. You'll probably be next to someone you don't know. The tables are also small, so it's going to feel a bit cluttered and hectic. It's also cash only (as of Oct. 2019), so come prepared for that. Prices are reasonable and service is speedy for how many people they pack in here. We got the Devon Cream Tea and it really hit the spot for a mid-morning bite. read more

I had the opportunity to have lunch at the Muffin Man Tea Shop while traveling to London on a class trip. The restaurant was conveniently located near the hotel we were staying at in Kensington. We also would pass it every time we would walk to the tube, so by the last day we knew we had to try it. Our party of three walked in around 4 PM on a Monday. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was fairly dead around this time, but not too much so since this was still during the work hours of the day. Our party was immediately seated at a circular table on the main floor nearest a window. When it came time to order I decided to go with the Mozzarella, Tomato & Fresh Basil Panini (#3, 4.10 pounds). The dish came with a side salad an on it's own was extremely tasty. You could tell they used fresh ingredients (especially with the mozz). The service was great here as well too! The waitress gave us ample time to order and did not hesitate to fill our glasses when we were running low on tea or water. The main draw of this place seems to be the interior design. Hanging plants, large open windows, and turquoise table cloths definitely give a quaint feeling to this distinctively English establishment. It's definitely ideal for a causal lunch with friends, or to share something sweet over a cup of tea as well. read more

Not far from our hotel, this little gem of a restaurant always had a lineup when we passed it. Today we lucked out and got a seat. It has a very gentile environment and oozes charm. We ordered eggs in toast although there is a vast array of options for breakfast or lunch or high tea! All of them looked very tempting. The price was very reasonable and the food was delicious! A side of toast with jam and their house blend tea made a lovely breakfast! The service was excellent, even though they were very busy and the staff was pleasant and friendly. read more
