This place is excellent. We had afternoon tea and it was simply delightful. They bring out the loose leaf teas to smell and then you make your selection. The dishware is beautiful and my kids had a blast. Plus it's one of the more reasonable in London.

Located a few minutes walk from Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament, the St. Ermin Hotel is quintessential old London. Charming and elegant, the hotel looks adorable! We went upstairs to the tea room, and the beautiful, delicate China teapots and cups whisked us back to a more simpler time. Or I don't know, was it more simple? Anyhoo, if you're looking for afternoon tea that makes you feel pretty cute, St. Ermin is a good pick. It's more relaxed than tea at places like the Ritz, but an equally good pick!
As tourists we debated between going to St. Ermin's Tea Lounge and Oscar Wilde Bar for afternoon tea. We decided on St. Ermin's b/c it was close to Westminster Abbey after our tour ended at 2p. We arrived around 2:15 without reservation. We waited for 10-15min and were seated by friendly staff. The service is top notch as many reviewers said. The setting was just right amount of class without being too overwhelming. The set menu serves a good range of finger sandwiches and desserts plus individual teas. Even though everything was small portion, added together it was quite a lot of food. All of the sandwiches were delicate and tasty. The desserts were good too, but all together a bit too sweet. The bottomless tea helped to balance the sweet dessert. We loved everything and were quite full by the end. We couldn't eat another bite when they brought out freshly baked scones. We each took a bite to share one just to try. It was so good, hot and fresh out of the oven. Highly recommend this tea lounge for first, second and more experiences.

She was so sweet and accommodating, she was my designated server - however, everyone else was lovely to me as well. Food/drinks - 5/5 REASONABLY well priced. 43 pounds for afternoon tea with champagne and unlimited tea options? Been to multiple places in New York and Canada for afternoon tea, I pay nearly DOUBLE this without champagne and unlimited tea.. most times it's ONE tea option! Décor - 5/5 this place is so gorgeous with lots of natural light. It's so picturesque.
We had a wonderful afternoon at the beautiful St. Ermin's Tea Lounge. The sandwiches, pastries, and sweets were amazing, and we loved trying the different teas. The service was perfect.
Absolutely marvelous! I went with my 12 year old daughter and we both loved the whole experience. We did not have reservations but luckily they were able to accommodate us. They had a child's menu which was perfect for my daughter. The food, champagne, tea, everything exceeded our expectations. I personally loved their signature tea. Our server Metodia was very professional and yet full of excitement. He made the whole experience even more special for us. If you are looking to simply enjoy a beautiful afternoon tea, look no further. This is the place to go to!!

They give you a brief introduction regarding the different kinds of tea if it's your first time and throughout your time you can try as many as you like. I believe we had the Hibiscus and English Breakfast. You get a tea timer to see how long you should let your tea sit for. I was so full by the time I got to the scones I could barely even finish! My favorite was the hazelnut praline choux, as a chocolate lover, this was sweet and just melted in your mouth. The place is small and fits a few tables, intimate and lovely. Service was very friendly and quick. Overall had a wonderful experience here.

Top notch afternoon tea service. We enjoyed the adult tea service which included endless tea pots with a selection of yummy tea varieties. We all liked the tea sandwiches including Brie, Turkey cranberry, and crawfish. They also offer a child tea service modified to include ham with cheese sandwiches. Of course the desserts were the star here. Mini tea desserts included the best macarons I've ever tasted, cheesecake bites, Panna Cotta, Christmas spice cake, and fresh baked scones at the end. The scones were next level good. If you're looking for an amazing tea service in London set in a beautiful hotel, this is the place.
We had a lovely tea at St. Ermin's which is a beautiful hotel right near St. James Park tube stop. The teas were fantastic and service was great. I highly recommend the green teas. I also had a mint tea which was amazing. The finger sandwiches and sweets were very tasty. It was also very quiet and relaxing. I'm so glad I was able to check out the tea here!

Taste wise - the tea is great, the food is very average, especially their desserts, which resemble the desserts you get at a buffet of the mid-level all inclusive resort. And their scones are dense and heavy.
On our London Christmas vacation, my wife main request was to have tea at a proper English tea room and St. Ermin's Tea Lounge fit the need. Located in a beautiful hotel with a calm and quiet lounge, the beautiful room was filled with patrons sipping tea. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty. The desserts were inhaled by our boys and enjoyed by all. The scones arrived with clotted cream and jam were equally consumed by our boys. The variety of teas were enjoyable and packed with flavor. If you are in London and looking for a relaxing / quiet tea experience, St Ermin's Tea Lounge is beautifully decorated, tasty and a memorable event. read more
Excellent service; they were able to accommodate food allergies. One of the members of my party has a chocolate allergy and they were able to provide alternative desserts for her to enjoy. The setting is beautiful, presentation was lovely. We enjoyed the first seating of the day at noon and had a wonderful meal. My favorite sandwich was the curry chicken, so delicious. We were served a beautiful passion fruit dessert as well as a key lime which were the stars of the experience for me. The flavors were amazing, not too sweet. The tea selections were lovely and I enjoyed adding a glass of bubbly to start and end the experience. read more

My 300th review goes to St. Ermin's Tea Lounge in London! I was truly impressed by everything here including the location, atmosphere, food, and service. On my first day in London, I wanted to try authentic British Afternoon Tea. I love afternoon tea back in the States, so I was very eager to try out a couple of places in London. After checking into my Airbnb, I decided to go get some high tea. I chose St. Ermin's because it looked very fancy, accompanied by good reviews and enticing menus for a fair price. When I arrived, I was enchanted by the arch of greenery that greets you when you enter the hotel from the street, and by the beautiful architecture of the hotel itself. I was honestly worried I would be treated poorly because I'm a foreigner, and wasn't dressed formally. However, the staff was so nice! They promptly seated me, brought me a menu, and answered all my questions. They even let me try two teas! Normally don't, but they were happy to make an exception for no additional cost. I chose these two teas: 1) Fruit Berries It was quite sweet, and when paired with the sweetness of all the desserts, I think it got too sweet once I started eating desserts. 2) Jasmine Blossom Love a good green tea, and this was very refreshing, along with being a great palate cleanser between bites of different foods. Afternoon Tea Menu: Savoury Sandwiches: 1) Prawn with lemon and dill 2) Cucumber with mint and chive cream cheese 3) Cumbrian ham, Montgomery cheddar and pickle 4) Carrot and raisin with mint, coriander and houmous 5) Coronation chicken Sweet Desserts: 1) Blueberry mousse, lemon and mint curd, juniper sponge This one is a favorite of mine, especially since it's so pretty and shaped like a tulip. 2) White chocolate ganache, hazelnut caramel, raspberry compote and vanilla sponge So cute, shaped like a flower pot! Biting into it was overwhelmingly very chocolate-y. 3) Choux bun, cherry compote, whipped milk chocolate and vanilla cream As pretty as this looked, it was much too creamy and heavy, and I couldn't finish this. 4) Peach and apricot mousse, cinnamon sponge, thyme cream This one was cute as well, shaped like a peach. Unfortunately, it was so creamy, I couldn't stomach it much as well, and left a portion of this ruined and uneaten. :( 5) Strawberry jelly, vanilla custard and basil Tasty! It's just incredibly sweet. It's also topped with a raspberry. On top of all that, there were two freshly baked scones, with clotted cream and jam. I was so enraptured by everything, I almost forgot about scones until a waiter asked if I had gotten them yet. It was so nice of them. Clotted cream and jam on warm fresh scones is such a guilty pleasure for me. They were also very kind to provide me with water at my request. I kept asking for water so much, they also left me a bottle at my table. Although the menu has the tea listed at £30, the bill came out to £33.75 ($41.43 USD). It was very much worth it all for a very fair price, I'm so happy I chose to come to St Ermin's for my first afternoon tea in England! Everything was simply beautiful, even the ladies room! Afternoon tea is a must when in London and when you are a tourist, it is a special treat to experience High Tea in London. I've been to several tea lounges for afternoon tea at home and in Asia, but there's nothing like the tea experience where it all started. I asked about places for afternoon tea at our hotel upon checking in and was recommended to their very own tea lounge. It was an excellent idea and I didn't have to go very far. The tea was only £30 per person ($40 USD) and for an extra £5 was could have champagne (Prosecco) with your service. Our menu included scones, sandwiches and assorted desserts. It was more than enough for 2 people and we had leftovers to take back to the room. I was sad to learn, however, that crumpets were not included with tea service. Everything presented beautifully and equally delicious. It was served in a vintage looking tiered caddy....tea sandwiches (the coronation chicken was my favorite) on the bottom, cream puffs and other fancy desserts on the middle & top tiers, along with a basket of fresh baked scones. Our server was polite, friendly and attentive. The service was amazing. Overall, it was a lovely experience and would recommend St. Ermin's as a place for afternoon tea. read more
What a delightful experience. While visiting London my daughter and I wanted to experience afternoon tea. I researched a lot of places. My daughter does not enjoy dressing up, so I wanted to find something that didn't require getting all fancy, and while you certainly can fancy yourself up, my daughter wore a nice top with shorts. I did wear a dress. I reserved our time for earlier in the day so we wouldn't expect a crowd and could take our time. I so wanted to order the bottomless prosecco, but didn't want to need a nap, but I did add a glass of champagne. I was surprised to see them pour Pommery, which is one of my favorites. The service was impeccable, the food was fantastic. I could have forgone some of the sweets for more sandwiches, but that's more of a personal preference. MY daughter was in awe the whole time and tried everything brought out. And those scones were to die for. Warm and with the clotted cream, was perfection. Highly recommend this place and would certainly return if I ever return to London. This was a major highlight of our trip to London. read more

St. Ermin's tea lounge is located on the 1st floor of the hotel. It's absolutely beautiful with classic china and modern delivery of the sandwiches and sweets. You have the option of just afternoon tea or afternoon tea with unlimited champagne. For additional 5 pounds, it's not a bad deal for unlimited champagne. I would recommend reservations since afternoon tea fills up pretty quickly. The only thing I was bummed out about was not being able to buy the honey! Check out the 3rd floor for the honeybee hives they have on site. Pretty amazing! read more
The tea and food was amazing. Loved the setup and the hotel was beautiful. I was disappointed by our experience because I had read up on having tea at this location and my expectations were high based on the great reviews. However, our service was subpar and there were young kids screaming and running around, which made us unable to relax and enjoy our time. Our server was very short and unfriendly with us and we only saw her a couple of times. The second time she came to our table, she literally walked up and just stood there... didn't say "what can I get for you" or anything. Just stood there. It was like she didn't like us from the start. If we had been sat somewhere different and had been waited on by someone else, I have no doubt that it would've been a 5 star experience. read more
The sandwiches and scones were nice. The sweets were not as exciting. The refills on the tea consisted of adding hot water to a fading tea bag. Service was AWOL most of the session and did not justify their 12.5% tip they added. The experience was nice, but it's hard to justify their price. With such a competitive afternoon tea market in London I doubt I'd return. read more

This was BY FAR the highlight for me of our recent trip to London. High tea is on many people's lists when visiting for the first time and being on mine as well, I did lots of research as to where we should go. Splurge and go somewhere such as the Ritz, or instead to the ever popular Harrods? The price quickly eliminated the Ritz, as there were far too many other things we could do for that than to spend it simply on tea & frilly finger sandwiches. Harrods was better, but still steep at 55 euros per person (65 per person if you wished to include a single glass of champagne). That's when I decided to look for something more local, and found St. Ermin's where afternoon tea with unlimited prosecco was only 35 euros per person. Um, SOLD! High tea is served daily here between the hours of noon-6pm, and I highly recommend making a reservation through their website to secure your spot. They currently have a Winter Tea menu that sounds delightful. Also note that once you are first served, they keep an eye and will politely ask for your table back after an hour and a half. Otherwise people may tend to stay past their welcome and take advantage, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for their fellow tea companions. For that hour and a half however, you will want for nothing as their service is superb. Both our tea and prosecco were refilled often before they even had the chance to reach half full throughout our meal. They have a wide variety of teas to choose from, and our table selected white tea with berry notes, Earl Grey, and Peppermint. They come in individual teapots (1 pot per person), and are served alongside cream and sugar cubes. Very quaint. The star of the show of course being the finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and assorted sweet treats. They were *almost* too pretty to eat but absolutely delicious. I noted that they were thoughtful enough to bring one of each item per person in your party, so that everyone could have their own to try. Our savory offerings included the following sandwiches: red pepper & artichoke pesto, goat's cheese with apricot chutney, smoked salmon with crème fraiche and dill, salt beef and honey mustard slaw, and my personal favorite which was the Caesar chicken with crunchy romaine. The menu on the day we went was a celebration of honey, so all of their sweets showcased that in one way or another. We had ginger and honey macrons, honey gin & tonic jelly with blackberry panna cotta, a honey caramel sponge with white chocolate mouse (I die), gin baba with cinnamon crème (I die twice), and a banana and honey mousse with milk chocolate in the shape of a beehive (are you kidding me?!). It was magical. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the experience we had. From the beautiful hotel, to the friendly wait staff, and the incredible food and drinks. If ever I am lucky enough to make a return visit to London, I will most definitely be coming back. read more
The amount of places you can have tea is astronomical. As a tourist wanting to do tea time, it's hard to chose. We read in the reviews this place is great for kids as well, since we were traveling with the children that really helped our choice. I couldn't be happier that we chose this place. We were incredibly late due to traffic and some protests that were going on close by (we were there the week before Trump visited) but the staff was understanding when I called and when I showed up. The tea was amazing and the food. Oh man. The curry chicken salad sandwich was my absolute favorite. My kids loved their whole spread and my husband about died from happiness when he tried the little peach dessert given. read more

This was a great experience. Unlike a lot of tea rooms we tried to book, St. Ermin's was not packed to the brim. We got a lovely seat on the covered and heated patio. Service was friendly and attentive. They offered to give us more sandwiches if we wanted them and we got to try every tea they offered. My favorites were the earl grey, chai masala, chicken sandwich, tuna sandwich, banana cake, and chocolate shortbread. The scones were also fantastic. I'd definitely come again. read more

What a great experience. I took my daughter for our first high tea together and we were both so pleased. The staff are super nice and engaging not stuffy like at other tea lounges I've been to. They prepare a separate menus for adults and children. The kids prefix is adorable and the adults is delicious. The deserts were so great I wish I had the space to eat it all. I've already recommended to my friends who are locals as I think it's such s cool experience for adults and kids to share. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is a quintessential British High Tea service offering an impressive variety of teas, as well as a bottomless champagne service. The food offerings were exquisite, and we were told that the chefs change the menu with each season and come up with new desserts each time. The servers and host were so kind, and graciously walked us Yanks through the experience. Is it possible to have too much food? Hardly!! And everything was scrumptious!! The atmosphere was traditional, yet not intimidating. Another fun fact is that the St. Ermin Hotel served as the WWII headquarters for an division of the British armed forces, what ultimately became the British intelligence agency, Inspired Ian Fleming to write about James Bond and his quartermaster/gadget guru "Q." It's also where thousands of British women were trained in counterespionage. Sorry to disappoint: but like all thinks London, the tea was $$$! Expect at least $175 American for two--but it was a highlight of our trip! read more
We had a one day layover in london before we went home to LA. We booked our stay at this hotel and I had originally planned to do high tea at Fortnum & Mason however our flight was delayed and we missed our time. My fiance suggested we do high tea here instead. We did come on a sunday afternoon and I would recommend you make reservations if possible! They were able to accommodate us luckily however the wait was pretty long since we didn't have a reservation. Options: 29 pounds for high tea, or 35 pounds for high tea with unlimited prosecco (which was a pretty good option!) but we were tired of drinking so we opted for the normal tea option. We tried the earl grey tea (I thought was okay), and the chai (also pretty good), but my favorite was the original sencha (?) I forget but it was green tea with fruity notes. Food: I thought the sandwiches were okay, my fiance liked the curry one. I LOVED the coconut passion fruit panna cotta, it was so flavorful yet fruity. I also loved the apple dessert, the macarons, and the scones. Overall we had a pleasant experience. I wasn't expecting the tea to be as fancy as Fortnum & Mason but it was much more affordable (29 pounds compare to 49 pounds) and we were still able to experience high tea conveniently at our hotel which was nice. read more
Had a wonderful, impromptu afternoon tea at this beautiful hotel tea room. Having no reservations, we were fortunate there was a table available. Our server, Joanne was lovely, and though very busy, attended to our every need. We ordered from the vegetarian menu, which was fairly new, and were walked though the items when they were presented. We selected two teas, a rich chai, prepared with milk and an oriental matcha, which was light and flowery. Our tea sandwiches were tasty and generous. We had four small,scones, two plain and two raisin, complete with clotted cream and jam. Our sweets were generous and beautifully prepared. We took four of these beauties back to the hotel with us. This was a most enjoyable feast, and reasonably priced. For a few dollars more, you can have all you can drink Prosecco, as well. read more

We were in London on a rainy day, and this was a perfect stop for afternoon tea. The tea is served on the second floor of the hotel, in an area that is quaint and inviting. There are many types of tea to choose from, and the options also include unlimited prosecco for an extra 6 euros. While the price is quite high at $29 Euros, it's a lovely experience to top off a trip to London. We couldn't finish the desserts, and we took half of it back to enjoy later in the day. Service was also very good. The waitress was engaging and we chatted a bit about the work environment and opportunities in Europe. The hotel makes for a perfect setting for this tea experience. read more
