My only real complaint is with some of the other park goers not picking up after their dog. I mean, why would someone have a dog if they're not willing to take care of all its needs? Then some yahoo, let his pack of four husky mixes immediately charge into the park, and one of them ran right up to my dog with its teeth, bared and growling. No words from that owner. My words? "Time to go." We've spent too much on this shelter dog to risk anything. Back to sniffspots.

So the dogs have nothing to run run and bark at driving in the street. They have multiple concrete sections with dual water fountains for filling up swimming pools for the puppies in the summer. As soon as you walk in there is a poop bag dispenser trash can and water fountain. There are enough old growth trees to keep you busy counting them the whole time you're here. The only problem is you have to park across the street but it's not that far of a walk although I am sure during the weekdays it can be a little packed. But today is Sunday and there is absolutely no one here in the parking lot was wide open. The Tampa dog park was packed and this one is empty although I think this one is nicer. But if you wonder why the star count is so low all you have to do is read some of the reviews, very few are about the actual Park most of them are about how people felt. Could you imagine Life as a dog if your owner never let you find a tree? Out of the 2000 dog parks we have been to this park definitely would rate above the better half of dog parks line, but that's just my personal opinion hahaha

It's a nice stop for our pups and it had become a ritual. The park is always maintained, foggy bags are always present and the grass is mowed. This dog park does not have a separate area for different sized dogs. We have never seen anyone else here when we have stopped. There are three benches and a wimpy dog fountain. One of the benches is in the only sandy area but all have shade at different times of the day. My doggies love this park. It is worth the stop if you are in the area.

I admit I haven't visited many dog parks in Tampa except Davis Island-but this one is super convenient and easy to get to, plus its HUGE if you include the rest of Rowlett Park. --------------- All kinds of folks, most taking good care of their pups (picking up after them, watching them, correcting bad behavior). Haven't seen a fight yet. Our usual visit on a weekday morning is decidedly quiet, weekends in the morning pretty quiet as well. Afternoon is when you see more dogs-you also see more mosquitoes (seriously bring bug spray if you happen to come close to sundown). Make sure to bring a towel-your dog will get muddy around the fountain and dirt. Overall this is a nice size park if you want to do some training or just let your dogs sniff around-keep in mind depending on the time of day you may not see many dogs. I also suggest walking the paved trails along the Hillsborough river for a nice little break and some more exercise with your dog (although keep them away from the water), there are gators and they move fast. If you have kids and an extra set of eyes you can have them hang out at the playground (there are several) while someone hangs out with the dog in the dog park or walks the trail. The Atmosphere: Pretty open area, well shaded. About 3 picnic bench tables (2 in shade, close to the water, one in the sun). One water fountain (2 humans, one dog, plus a few bowls left for water). Can get a little muddy around the water. About two bag stations one in the front entrance, another at the end of the park. A few obstacle courses for later and smaller dogs in the small dog park. Tip: Don't forget the bug spray, towel, and extra poop bags if you want to walk the rest of the park.

We saw no trash on the ground. The fence is well maintained. There are multiple water stations for the dogs. We love the big shade trees!
