Best coffee in Mid-City hands-down. I have been many times and have never been disappointed. It's clear that the intention of this place is in its name, to form community and socialize. It is a cafe, meets gallery meets casting studio meets event space. There is a very cute outdoor patio around the back, accessible from the sidewalk on Palm Grove Ave. In the summer, they have monthly wine socials which are always a lot of fun, and they occasionally have rotating art exhibits in the gallery space. It draws in lot of creatives for that reason. Also everyone on the staff, from the manager, to the baristas, are all gorgeous. You're bound to get your heart stolen by at least two of the people that work here. Luckily, I like my coffee how I like the people who make it, hot af. Shout out to the baddie with the piercings. If it's not because of that, the space was actually cool, featuring some artworks around several corners, nice greenery, and some seats for brief chilling moments. Palm Grove Social is a very interesting cafe. Part cafe. Part art space. And most importantly, it is a place for the local community to gather. In the time we spent there today we saw all of this. Our speciality lattes were very good. We had the lavender and the miso butterscotch. Both very enjoyable. They were completely out of anything pastry related when we arrived so the 5th star will have to wait;) But the feeling of community was by far the most tangible component at Palm Grove and I'm sure that's exactly how it's supposed to be. The space is very open with lots of light. It has a bit of a gallery feel to it but certainly not in a pretentious way. Very comfortable. Nice seating along the wall on the west side. Mid city coffee shop gem! The whole vibe of the shop inside and out is very calming, creative and LA coded. The coffee and match options are spot on with what's trending. The service was friendly and professional very your friends work at a coffee shop and your there to hang out. The music was so good a mix of 90s R&B and today's trending neo soul songs. I just moved into the neighborhood and had to check out the local coffee spot. Their drink offerings all sound so yummy, the vibes are high, the staff is kind, and the space is inviting. There's a few areas to sit and chill or work or look at great art. An outdoor patio surrounded by plants that I can't wait to sit on. And they're dog friendly! Will be back, many many times. They make good coffee and have a good bakery source. However, I stopped coming here because they "made a new rule" that they couldn't add cold foam to hot drinks. Which is how I always ordered and they consistently would argue with me about the combination although that's how I liked my drink. After a while of being a regular they refused to continue to make my order. I tried their suggestion and it was disgusting to me and I could no longer enjoy my favorite combination. I'm rating them sooo low because making up rules to alienate loyal patrons is just a poor business move. I am so lucky PGS opened nearby. It's part of my Sunday routine to stop in for a cappuccino and a pastry. The beans are independently sourced and the whole milk is with Clover brand leaving the coffee drinks smooth and creamy. I don't know how PGS does it but a drink is still under $5 which is rare nowadays. The pastries are from a local vendor, serving some of the other small coffee shops around here, such as Neighborhood. Everything is delicious, including the croissants (if you go early enough you can get a kimchi spam one), cookies, muffins and donuts. Follow PGS on Instagram. Honest opinion, While the inside and outside are beautifully decorated and designed i must say, it's very over priced and I believe they have one size for drinks. The ham and cheese croissant was also dry and seemed to be more on the stale side. Did not taste fresh and felt like this before on a previous trip. It's a small size croissant and it felt like it wasn't worth it. Lovely magazines, and other reading novelty that they curated on display, but the drink and breakfast was not it. I've been a midcity resident all my life, and I think about our community and it's clearly going to bring a different crowd. The old crowd knows they can get something else, elsewhere. I live right around the corner from Palm Grove Social and come here about once a week. It's not usually very busy and the staff are super nice. Very unassuming, quiet, low-key place. Nice little patio in the back to sit and they also expanded the inside of the cafe and have extra seating now. Most importantly, the coffee is great, regular pours as well as espresso drinks. This is a relatively new coffee spot in Mid City, and it has one of the cutest outdoor patio areas I've seen for a coffee shop! Note that it isn't directly connected to the shop, which itself is actually a small room at the corner of the intersection, but you can walk a couple steps down Palm Grove Ave to get to their patio area (stop at the gate). It was empty when I arrived around 10:30 on Sunday, but it was perfect for enjoying my cappuccino ($4.75) and croissant ($5.15). It felt like a nice little oasis, and I ended staying for an extra hour reading an e book on my phone. Easiest yes of my life. I would abbbbbsolutely come back and it was based on my first five minutes in their shop. Aesthetic? Cute and curated. Hospitality? Warm and gracious. Coffee? Had a terrible experience first time coming, stood at the register, waiting to be helped and one of the baristas is coming back from her break. Allowed a guest to step directly in front of me not acknowledging me and then proceeded to ring her out and when I walked away in a bit of a disbelief with my relative about the customer service barista attempted to blame it on the customer she was willing to help without Acknowledging me at all, and then wanted to blame the customer for her lack of social awareness and not the barista poor customer service will never be back. read more
