I was headed to dinner at the fabulous Holbox, but driving there from Hollywood at rush hour is never a good idea. So I looked for a coffee spot closer to the restaurant at which I could do some work. Alibi Coffee is only 10-15 minutes from the restaurant, which made it a good candidate--and off I went. It sits on the corner of Washington and Raymond Avenue. While there's one-hour parking on Washington, Raymond seems to offer unlimited parking (other than street cleaning days)--the friendly, helpful barista directed me over there. Inside, it's a tranquil, clean and comfortable environment that mixes contemporary touches with brick industrial vibes. I'm in my cream top era, so I decided to get their Trademark Cream Top Latte, which uses cold brew and house made cream with a hint of brown sugar. The drink was smooth and not too sweet and, all in all, extremely enjoyable. Next time, I might try the Salted Caramel Cream Top Latte. I was warned it was a bit sweeter, but I'd like to see for myself. Wi-Fi seems solid, and there are plenty of outlets (yay!), so this was a great work spot. Alibi Coffee owns the claim of the historic West Adams district's first coffee roaster and are quite proud of this history, represented with a hand-drawn map of the surrounding neighborhoods with some important landmarks. The building was built in 1922 and was entirely gutted and redone by the founders themselves, which on its own is a testament to their craft. They also roast and sell their own beans! Fortunately, said beans are decent. Their cream top cold brew -- which doesn't quite taste as bean-juice-y as I normally find cold brew -- is very smooth and just slightly sour. The cream on top sits halfway between a whipped cream and traditional cold foam, where it stands up on its own but also blends well into the drink, rounding out the acidity. They have signature drinks, but I wasn't willing to risk it after a fair number of fellow Yelpers warned of how sweet they were. You can still get a taste of their signature honeycomb latte upon request for free -- honeycomb toffee on the side, which sparked a bittersweet contrast against the light acidity of the cold brew. Drinks run around $6-7 after tax. (I still don't understand *when* cafes collect tax and when they don't.) We stayed until closing at 4 P.M., where we were promptly offered some free leftover pastries and an entire loaf of sourdough bread by a barista. read more

A Cozy Coffee Gem in West Adams - Alibi Coffee is a Must-Visit Alibi Coffee in West Adams was such a delightful find. SOOOO MUCH LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I really enjoyed the vibes. It is the kind of spot that makes you want to stay a while whether you are catching up with friends or just wanting to relax with a good book. They serve pastries from Sugar Bloom Bakery and let me tell you they do not play when it comes to the pastry game. I ordered the berry tart almond croissant and chocolate croissant to share with my two girl friends and all of them were delicious as expected. Each pastry was flaky buttery and had the perfect balance of sweet. Definitely the kind of treats that make you close your eyes and savor every bite. Now let's get into the coffee because that is where things got really exciting. We ordered a few different drinks to try the salted caramel latte with cream top the matcha latte with cream top and the coconut honeycomb latte which turned out to be the star of the show. I did not get to sip on the salted caramel or the matcha but both looked amazing especially with those thick dreamy cream tops that make your latte feel extra special. The real winner for me was the coconut honeycomb latte though. I honestly cannot stop thinking about it since. The honeycomb is not actual honeycomb thankfully but more like a fluffy brittle with a caramelized sugar flavor and bits of coconut mixed in. And oh girl those little pieces on top made my day. It was crazy delicious. I drank every last sip and even chewed on the ice at the end because I did not want to miss a drop. This latte put me in such a happy mood and I already cannot wait to go back and order it again. I was in search of a place to lounge around for an hour while taking a work meeting, and Alibi Room was one of the cafes in mind. For starters, there was mention of "easier" street parking - findable though I would argue not easy. Once I made my way in side, the staff were welcoming, friendly, and patient. My order? Well, after a few minutes, I was roped into trying their Honeycomb Latte.... unique, indeed! (For reference, I don't like syrups and sugar, and my go-to is a regular iced latte to really taste espresso and milk.) The Honeycomb Latte was a tad on the sweeter side, so if you like the taste of espresso, I recommend ordering less sugar / honeycomb or another drink. While there were many tables available, I would caution taking meetings here, as the lighting is on the darker end. Additionally, the music here is fairly noisy, such that even regular conversation was difficult. I'll likely return to try their regular lattes; their beans tasted great! read more

I've been on the hunt for a really good coffee spot to grab something while at work, and there aren't many options nearby. I usually don't have much time to stop, but I finally had a chance to visit Alibi Coffee, and I'm so glad I did. There's also outdoor seating, which is a nice bonus. The music had a great vibe and wasn't too loud--perfect for a quick stop or a relaxed visit. I was greeted right away, and the barista was very friendly and helpful. I asked about decaf options and was happy to hear that any drink can be made decaf. I ordered an iced latte with cream foam and a warmed croissant. Both were delicious. The latte wasn't overly sweet--just the way I like it--and the croissant was warm, buttery, and perfectly flaky. When I got back to my office, I was able to enjoy both during a busy day of meetings, which made the day feel a little more manageable. This place makes a very solid horchata cold brew for $6.99. The coffee was strong, and the additional horchata added in didn't make it excessively sweet, but gave the creaminess and cinnamon flavor into the coldbrew. Stopped by this coffee shop on a Sunday afternoon and was surprised at how empty it was on a weekend compared to a lot of the cafes in LA. This place is convenient since there's a large parking lot adjacent to it so you don't have to hunt for street parking or pay a meter. The shop itself is also quite spacious with a ton of seating available and a bathroom. The staff recommended one of their signature lattes so I ended up getting the sweet cream latte. I was in the area and needed to kill some time and I was happy to stumble upon Alibi Coffee. There's a parking lot and some outdoor seating in the lot. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of seating as well. I got the lavender latte and it was very bomb! There are also a handful of pastry items. I got a plain croissant, it was good just very very flakey on the outside. It was a peaceful place for me to hang out at on a Monday morning. Drove down from Whittier this morning *just* for my honeycomb latte fix at Alibi -- and let me tell you, they ALWAYS slap. So freaking good every single time. Sarah and Jono are absolute gems. Hands down the best customer service I've ever experienced at a coffee shop. Their energy is contagious in the best way possible -- genuine, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. I originally came to pick up coffee beans (since they roast their own and always have them super fresh), but they were out of the blend I usually get. Sarah jumped right in with some awesome suggestions, and I left with a new blend I'm excited to try. Problem solved like a boss. Also -- major love for the dog-friendly vibes. I brought my pup Gandalf (see photo ), and not only did they notice, they treated him to a puppuccino! It was such a sweet touch. The teamwork here is impressive. Not feeling like staying in a closed space? There's also outdoor patio next to their parking lot! It was tad quiet right before noon on the Sunday I visited, but didn't last long until it started getting busier. Their Signature Cream Latte seemed to be most popular, but I followed the barista recommendation to try the Honeycomb Sugar Latte. Despite the name somehow made it sound so sweet, worry not as it's just right level of sweetness. It would be just perfect actually when you let it sit for awhile and got the honeycomb molten and blended with the coffee. Oh my goodness. What a coffee shop! Can you guys open one in the north Orange County area?? Upon walking in, the place looked very clean with bags of coffee displayed on the shelves and bright and white countertops with some delicious looking pastries. One of the owners(?) was very friendly and answered all my questions happily. Apparently they have only been at this location on Washington for a week or two, and had moved from the Venice/western area after years of business there. They are also in the process of bringing their coffee roaster there. I ended up getting their iced signature cream latte. It was honestly the best cream top latte I've had! You could taste the flavor of the coffee and it had barely any sweetener in it. The cream top was minimal but smooth and enough flavor to add to the drink. The syrup and cream made in-house which is always a plus and something I look for in coffee shops. I had no problem finding parking on the side streets. They are very welcoming here and I look forward to making another visit out to LA to come back! read more

We chatted for a bit and he recommended a few matcha flavors. I went with honeycomb oat milk matcha and added vanilla syrup. Alibi Coffee Co. is a ray of sunshine in this area. I happened to meet a colleague for coffee and we met at Alibi. The parking lot, as well as the coffee shop are very clean. The design elements are warm and inviting. You have to check out the coffee maker and chandelier. It's a great place to relax and hang out. I noticed while I was there, a couple of regulars did come in. The staff is extremely friendly, remembers peoples names, takes the time to explain how the coffee is made , where it's made their philosophy around it. Unfortunately, I didn't get to taste any of their treats that they're famous for. They seem to be sold out for the day. They have wonderful outdoor patio and they have at least 15 to 20 parking spots which is amazing and a rare rare find in LA. I highly recommend this coffee shop. I highly recommend trying the honey lavender latte.. It was delicious and it was not too sweet. You do have your choice of milk or milk alternatives. Note, make sure to look out for the parking lot. If you turn into U-Haul you've gone past the parking lot don't make my mistake :-) read more

I was helping out a family member getting his car worked on next door, and decided to wait here for the service to be completed around 8am on a Monday. There wasn't a long line. I opted for a cold brew and we both got ham croissants - yum! We sat and chatted while we enjoyed our pastries as more customers were in and out.
