I returned home from a short trip to a client call within my neighborhood to find a red van parked in my driveway and a man--who identified himself as being from Jimmy Lumley Plumbing--already inside my home, in my kitchen where I couldn't see him as he was behind the partition. I had received no notice, confirmation, or prior communication from Servpro or anyone else involved in the project indicating that a plumber was scheduled to arrive today. Let me be clear: He did knock on the door, but he did not ring the doorbell, which would have triggered my security system notification. When no one answered, he proceeded to let himself into my home without consent. My 19-year-old daughter was home and asleep in her bedroom, unaware that a stranger had entered the house. When I questioned him, he stated: "This is my fourth house today--I don't even remember," and admitted he didn't see a doorbell, even though he previously claimed he knocked AND rang the bell. When I called ServPro, they confirmed they were also not informed of his scheduled visit. This is an unacceptable breach of safety, privacy, and protocol. No individual should be entering a home without explicit permission, especially when no notice has been given to the homeowner or the rebuild team coordinating the project. The fact that someone was already inside my home when I returned--with no explanation--was both alarming and distressing.

We paid $2,500 for the installation of a very small water heater in our condo back in April. Fast forward just 7 months to November and I texted the owner Ron to see what could be the cause of the leak. He said most likely the HVAC, but we looked ourselves and could not find a leak. It's tough when you have 3 kids. He said he'd come by for a service fee (but did not indicate cost of this "service" fee). He charged $300 just to come look at it, and it was indeed the HVAC. The HVAC guy came in the next day and stayed for over an hour and took care of a cracked PVC pipe for less than the 5-minute service call of Emerald Coast Water heaters. I have bought and sold several properties and NEVER been charged so much for a service call. I asked politely if I could whittle than figure down to $200 (which is very fair) and the owner refused. He then proceeded to add a $30 late fee to the bill after just a week. Avoid this company. Highway Robbery ! $300 for 5 minutes.

My main issue when I asked for a breakdown of the charges was when he gave me 3 different prices for the part...$800, Then $900 and finally $1,000 in text. My problem was when I conducted a simple google search you could buy the exact same back flow preventer for $400-$600. Then he proceeded to tell me he spent 4 hours on my job. Unfortunately, I was able to witness that was not the case from cameras on my house. I would have been fine if he would have offered a simple gesture to remove even $50. Bottomline he is way overpriced for the work he does. On top of that I do not like being misled. It would have been nice to have a heads up that this was going to be an $1,800 job. I was not in dire straits as the house was vacant. I have since spoke with 3 plumbers that would have all done if for much less. I definitely would not recommend working with this individual.

I thought it could be something quickly fixed, but it turned out that the entire unit needed replacing. They were able to get out the very next day in the morning. The plumber, Austin was very nice and thorough. He was great at explaining his recommendations and the differences in the brands. He also was knowledgeable about the various warranties for the tankless water heaters as well as his service. I found him to be friendly and timely. He also provided great communication in regards to when he could obtain the recommended tankless water heater and when he would be out to install it the next day. Overall, I'm very satisfied with their service and my interaction with Austin. He was very helpful in helping me move some items. He also left the work area cleaned and disposed of the old water heater. The old water heater installation was very unorganized so he did put the pipes and everything back on the wall and left them better than they were before. It took him about two hours to install the new tankless water heater. If I have another issue, I will certainly reach out to Emerald Bay Plumbing as I feel like Austin provided good advice and seemed to Reflect a trustworthy spirit of this business.
