I came to stay here after I had a total knee replacement surgery. I was in a lot of pain. The staff was very kind despite the fact that there were oftentimes overworked because the ratio of staff to patients probably not quite to par. I got PT and OT almost every day, which was great. I was very grateful that they catered to my dietary needs. They even checked up on me after I'd gone home. My only issues I had, had to do with the medication I was on. When I first got there by transport I was due for my pain medication and they didn't have any of my prescribed medication. They told me they would be able to get me some within a half hour of my arrival. That didn't happen. I had to wait hours and I was in agony. Also, one time they ran out of it so they gave me another pain medicine which was stronger. I had to take this three times because the prescribed medicine still never came in. Also, it's great that they offer to wash your clothes (as long as they're labeled). The problem is, you don't always get them back. Their system could use some improvement. I asked about my clothing several times, but they didn't do anything about it, likely because the people I asked were way too busy. On the day I was leaving, my son and I had to go to the laundry room and look for them ourselves. They were spread out all over the place in the lost and found container. I'm not sure if I got everything. If I hadn't been in such pain when they gave me the inventory list when I first arrived I probably could have made a list of what I had come in with. It was in with the packet they gave me and was not explained to me then or later that I recall. Important...write a list of everything you bring. There's no way that one of the aids would have been able to find all my stuff that my son and I found scattered on that last day. Yes, they have room for improvement. No one's perfect. Overall, my experience was great so I'm still giving them five stars.

The rehab section meals were always tasty with an excellent selection to chose from. I hope the future would offer me a chouce to return to the Terraces if rehab was agsin necessary.

When my mom was unable to return to her independent living apartment after breaking her hip, a friend recommended Lincoln Glen Skilled Nursing. She lived in the skilled nursing facility for over 2 years and became part of the Lincoln Glen Manor family. The nurses and CNA's were caring and helpful. My mom enjoyed the activities, and I was glad to join her for family events. When a medical issue arose, a doctor from Kaiser (my mom's health insurance) would be contacted and would either come for a visit or would advise the staff on next steps.

Atria is a gorgeous place with huge trees, gardens, koi pond, and creek. The person who gave us the tour was the memory care director. She was very warm and knowledgeable and genuinely interested in getting to know my mom and her current living/health situation. The dining room is clean and spacious and there was a friendly warmth from the staff and residents. I was pleased to find out in addition to three meals a day, they serve coffee and breakfast all day until 5pm. When a resident is sick or just doesn't feel like going to the dining room, they can have food delivered to their apartment. There is also the option of cooking in the small kitchen in their apartment. Atria has lots of activities and events for residents. They go to interesting places like San Francisco, Monterey, etc. There are groups to join, too, like a knitting or writing group. Garden plots are available in the community garden and there is a heated outdoor swimming pool. My mom loved the apartment she was shown. Since this was the first community she looked at, we are going to tour a few more before making a decision. It's hard to imagine a nicer place.

I give credit to how quickly they arrived, but even the man who answered the phone seemed rude and lacked compassion. I worry because the Almaden plaza usually draws homeless as well as thieves. God forbid they lose their memory at the wrong time. I hope this is an issue with rapid resolve for the sake of others' elderly loved ones.

The activity leaders are so kind and really try to keep the residents busy with chair yoga, music, karaoke, word games, BINGO... The staff is phenomenal, and there are folks like Walter, Juan, Wilma, Christine, and more that give joy and care to each resident. I love that they assign PALs (care givers) to groups of residents, and most will pitch in and help whether or not they are assigned to a particular resident. Poojan (MC Director) and Radhika (Sr. ED) can often be found with residents. You can feel so much love here. Don't think twice about checking this facility out for your aging relatives. You will fall in love and get your own peace of mind, knowing they are safe, loved, and engaged. Just look at how they brought my mom back to life!

There's a lightness and cheerfulness about the place - the staff works hard, but there's a lot of laughter in everyone from the valet at the front door to the receptionists, the cleaning and maintenance staff, and the caregivers. I'm always surprised and heartened by how kind the residents are to each other - there's a good community spirit. My mom has mild cognitive impairment, is in assisted living there, and needs help every day. Sarum Talivaa, Senior Resident Care Director, and her team of caregivers are fantastic. I consider them partners in this crazy caregiving journey and I really value their experience and insight. I visit 3-4 times a week and I've seen that their work is very hard...so hard it would be easy for them to just phone it in to save their own energy. But Sarum and the caregiving team genuinely care about the residents and show it every day in the way they interact with and assist my mom (and me). I know she's in good hands and I'm so grateful for that.

An experience that was a nightmare- ongoing power failures for four months - yes - I have the flashlights, the blanket, battery operated mini lamps issued to the residents during this time / apologetic news letters weekly (waiting on parts) for generator. After a formal complaint was made, a Transformer finally arrived on premises. Twice pipes broke in the ceiling of my bathroom, flooding my bath and kitchen area. Rent was raised twice in one year. Covid rapidly spread throughout the building (was hospitalized for 4 days). Ventilation is very bad as they do not routinely change filters in Apts or Common area. When I ask to have it changed (as my Apt floor was showing evidence of black spots) - Maintenance states " only if you need it". I might add this is rental property (saving money). The food is the worst- Vendor is US foods. NO stable management. Lastly, I advise anyone interested in this Community to do your own extensive research on the internet (You will be surprised). The microwave oven never worked in my Apt. Kept tripping the breaker. Reported the problem one month after moving in - never resolved ! Finally approx 4 months upon leaving they said the microwave was too big; but never offered to replace it. I also would like to mention the elevators are often inoperable/they have four floors. I encourage everyone to be extremely cautious before putting your love one in these Communities as it is very costly/ stressful to re- locate .

It was incredibly difficult to tell my dad that I could no longer manage his growing caregiving needs, but Merife and Michelle made the transition easier by assisting me when I shared the news at his home, where he had lived for 60 years. Our first lunch at Villa Fontana was nothing short of serendipitous--my dad was reunited with a former co-worker he hadn't seen in decades! The meal was so delicious that he kept saying "oishi" (Japanese for "delicious"). It truly felt like a home-cooked meal, starting with a cream of potato soup, followed by a bountiful salad with hardboiled eggs, olives, and more. The main course featured chicken parmesan, spaghetti, perfectly prepared vegetables, and a berry pie à la mode for dessert. My dad's room is bright and cheerful, overlooking a gorgeous courtyard. It was recently remodeled with new carpet and granite countertops, making it feel fresh and inviting. To help ease his transition, Merife arranged 24/7 caregiving services from Harmony for the first three days--an unexpected but deeply appreciated gesture. Each caregiver was kind, attentive, and communicative with me, which made all the difference. Just 3 days after moving in, my dad had a small accident during the night, falling on the bathroom floor. Thankfully, he wasn't harmed, and the staff immediately provided me with pictures to reassure me that he was okay. Their attentiveness and quick response gave me so much peace of mind. Perhaps the biggest change has been in my dad's daily routine. Before moving in, he spent his days watching TV from morning until night. Now, he participates in group morning exercises, and when I asked what he liked the most about Villa Fontana, he replied, Bingo! He also loves that he can enjoy ice cream every day--a small but meaningful joy. The entire staff at Villa Fontana has been incredibly friendly and kind. In addition to Merife and Michelle, I want to give a special shoutout to Jefferson, who always greets me at the front desk with a smile, as well as Allyssa, Maryann (the activity director), Maryann (the med tech), Manny, Marycris, and Roselily. Villa Fontana has truly exceeded my expectations, and I'm so grateful my dad is in such a caring and supportive environment. My sisters, my mom and I toured most of the facilities in San Jose and Morgan Hill when we were choosing a new place for mom to call home. We finally chose the Carlton because the facilities and rooms were lovely but most importantly because the people who work there were warm and loving. Mom lived at the Carlton for nine years. At the time she moved in, mom was active and able to participate in the activities, trips, and social life. Then as time went on and she needed more care, Carlton was there to help us navigate what she needed and design her accommodations to fit her needs. I can not emphasize how wonderful they were in custom crafting a plan to meet her needs and in implementing that plan with caring and kind individuals. If I were making this choice again, I would choose Carlton in a heartbeat. This stage of life is difficult and having people who are competent and care makes it manageable.
