My family cannot say enough good things about Caring Hearts. The staff there is dedicated to helping the residents there live with dignity and a sense of belonging. Michelle makes it a practice to reach out to families with "Good news" and pictures that show everyday successes and small joys. Prior to going to live at Caring Hearts our mom lived at a much larger (And frankly much more expensive) care home. However the level of personal care and attention that she now receives has resulted in a substantially higher quality of life for her. read more

I wanted to write this review for Olivia and the staff at Caring Hearts. They are really dedicated team and are doing amazing work. My father has been doing much much better under their care than in other places we've tried. The facilities are always clean, the workers are super attentive to my father's needs, and visiting hours are very flexible. Olivia has been very kind to my father and I throughout the entire process of getting him situated. Additionally, they offer a very reasonable rate for the level of care they provide. I have volunteered at this wonderful facility many times before COVID. My role as a volunteer was to chat with the residents on a one to one basis, especially with those residents who rarely had visitors. While researching and visiting several memory care places I was referred to Caring Hearts by a friend whose mother had been under their care many years earlier. As soon as my son and I walked in the door we knew this was the place for grandma with its bright cheery colors, decorations, intimate atmosphere, like a real home. Another big plus was the ratio of caregivers to residents, 2x compared to some of the other places. Because of the intimate setting they get to know the idiosyncrasies of each resident and accommodate as best as possible. There are daily activities, but also special weekly, seasonal surprises, monthly flowers, various musical visits which engage the residents to participate, my favorite being Dean Martin, Halloween fun, Gilson as Popeye was the best, all with great luncheons extended to the families. As it turns out my mom's stay was relatively short, 8 months, but in that time, I found a group of people who are true angels in how much they care about what they do and those they are caring for. The name is absolutely fitting, Caring Hearts. Our family had the good fortune to find Caring Hearts about 3 years ago and I am so grateful. Mom had been living in a senior community with assisted care, but a fractured foot caused her to "fall between the cracks" in the continuum of care. Post foot fracture, she was wheelchair-bound--so couldn't reside in her 2nd floor apartment in case of fire--but she was otherwise healthy, so not appropriate for skilled nursing or the dementia unit. Off to investigate other options I went. When I found Caring Hearts and met Olivia and her staff, I knew it was all going to be OK - for Mom, and for our family. There are places that take care of your loved ones' physical needs, and Caring Hearts does a great job at that, but I wanted something more for Mom. I wanted a place where they would care for Mom's spirit as well as her body and a team that would work with me to ensure the highest possible quality of life for Mom for the remainder of her life. I got all that and more at Caring Hearts. Unless your loved one needs a very fancy place to live, I would unreservedly recommend Caring Hearts. The people are great, the food is good, they allow you to do "special" things like bring in favorite foods and flowers, and whenever there are medical issues, they are on top of it. (Olivia--not the geriatric physician--was the one who figure out that my Mom was suffering from UTIs. What a world of difference that made to Mom and all of us.) And, as Mom approached end of life, Caring Hearts got us set up with a terrific hospice called Optimal Care. Olivia started in this business because of her grandmother. We were so lucky to find Caring Hearts to care for my mother with advanced Parkinson's Disease. She lived at Caring Hearts for the last six months of her life where they gave her around the clock care and attention. We appreciated Regis, Olivia and all the staff for their attentive care and timely reports to the family. They worked hard to meet her changing needs and worked seamlessly with Hospice near the end. I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't found Caring Hearts. I highly recommend their services. read more

I want to provide a stellar recommendation for Olivia and her staff. Dad lived at Caring Hearts for close to 1 year or so. If I could give Olivia and the staff 10 stars, I would. Dad and I had many conversations - weekly and sometimes daily. In all conversations, he was very complementary of the staff, activities, food, care and anything else that was going on or provided. He was always clean and well cared for - mentally and physically. The support of Olivia to me as the daughter was exceptional. I was able to call her and get suggestions. She has a very keen eye for what is needed and when. And, would contact me if something was going on with his health. She is a wealth of information for services available to help with additional items that Dad needed include helping engage with hospice. In the last few weeks of Dad's life, I was getting daily updates from her as well as from the hospice nurse Jennifer from Suncrest. Olivia is like me - knows exactly what is going on and when. Dad would say, 'Olivia is like you...she runs a tight ship'. Addressing items quickly. He was impressed. I can tell, she is a great leader to the staff - given they have been with her for many years says A LOT. Knowing that my Dad was happy and comfortable in the last year of his life (in every stage that he was in - up to the day he passed). This is really what helps me know, I did the best for him. The staff is well trained. And, the location is safe. My recommendation here does not do Olivia and her Staff justice to the degree I feel in my heart and head. I am appreciative beyond what I can put in words. I truly thank Olivia and her Staff for taking care of Dad and providing him the BEST care possible. I know, I will keep in touch as they became family and I know my Dad would want me to. read more

The number of stars or words are inadequate to describe how wonderful Caring Hearts is.They cared for my wife as she progressed through the last 18 months of a debilitating and eventually fatal illness with skill, compassion , cheerfulness, and love. She was a demanding - frequently unreasonably so-resident but the staff always tried to meet her demands. If she was in pain, they called in Hospice to make sure her pain was controlled.The facility isn't fancy but the care is exceptionally good. read more

Caring Hearts provided a refuge of care for my mother when options for her care were very limited. Olivia and her staff lovingly accepted my mother and provided all the responsible care she required which included 24 hour coverage. Olivia has a great understanding of patient needs and was able to guide me through the process of care and eventually hospice. I want to share what an outstanding place Caring Hearts (CH) is. My relative received such heartfelt care at Caring Hearts for the final year or so of his life - the staff were wonderful, and treated him more like their grandpa than a resident. CH has a homey, cheerful feel - it does not feel institutional; and it even has nice outdoor areas for relaxed visiting. My relative enjoyed a number of different activities there such as singing and group exercises - especially things like lively games of batting a balloon around the living room together! As a health care professional myself, I have seen a number of care arrangements over the years, and I want to make special mention of the excellent quality of attention my relative received for his many medical needs. Finally (but especially importantly), I wanted to call out the remarkable leadership skills, communication skills, dedication and wisdom of Olivia Velasquez, the Executive Director of CH. She was very accessible and flexible, worked with our large family gracefully, and kept us apprised of health status changes and other needs of our relative. She is very astute, and (along with other CH staff) picked up on health issues in my relative that proved to be essential information - my relative's doctor was very impressed by the information Olivia provided (as was I), which directly impacted a number of care decisions. She not only communicated with our family but also communicated directly with his doctor and, in the final phase of his life, she also did a wonderful job of communicating with his hospice team - she even cheerfully took calls from the family, from the hospital, and from the hospice team while she was out of town on a holiday weekend! She is such a reasonable, sensible person to work with - definitely one of the best professionals I have ever worked with in any domain. My mother has been living at Caring Hearts for the past 14 months and her care is wonderful. The staff and owners are kind and gentle, and the facility itself is clean and sunny with lots of light. Olivia and Antonia are great about keeping me updated when my mother has various doctor appointments as she doesn't always tell me the truth about her condition, and I really appreciate that. I got lucky - Kaiser only gave us a day's notice to find a place and Caring Hearts was the first and only place I looked at; I immediately felt comfortable there and liked the people I met; they actually seemed to be having fun. read more

My mother lived at Caring Hearts for 16 months. During that time, which was difficult due to mom's many physical problems and issues with anxiety; we gained an extended family who was willing to make mom the most comfortable she could be. Olivia hires great staff including two cooks who make nutritious meals. Some of the care needs of the residents can be very difficult and they work well to support each other esp. when it comes to 'the heavy lifting!' For those residents who need additional activities; Olivia is a good resource when connecting folks with community agencies who can provide additional outside stimulation (physical therapy, memory care programs, etc). During the past 9 months my mom was on Hospice care thru Vita's. It was an additional layer of care for the resident, staff and family, as her needs increased. In her final days with us, Vita's provided 24 hr. nursing care which was so important to us in knowing she was given as much care as possible in order to be kept comfortable. We felt forunate and blessed to have found Caring Hearts. In this complex world of medical needs and aging parents it's truly amazing to find a place to lives up to their name! Caring Hearts is just that. My Dad was a resident there for over 2 years until he passed away. I was over there all the time. He got wonderful care. I looked at a lot of care homes and this one stood out in so many ways. It is homey, clean, and easy for someone with a disability to get around in. The two Owners/Managers Olivia and Antonia are around a lot and easy to get hold of. They are very open to suggestions and/or concerns of residents and families and pro-active at addressing any problems. The rooms are attractive and spacious with good storage unlike a lot of other care homes. There are enrichment activities for the residents and frequent themed parties and other social functions for residents and family. Although the staff changed from time to time, the training of new staff made the care-giver transitions fairly smooth. My Dad and I could not have been happier. Highly Recommend! read more

Finding the right care home for our dad seemed a daunting task. Our goal was to find a "more active" home because Dad is still healthy and active. We looked at several places in the area and Caring Hearts really stood out as the kind of place he needed. We felt comfortable right away with the owners and the staff. Dad moved into Caring Hearts in June of 2012 and we are so glad he did. He has a wonderful room with lots of light, his own closet and room for a couple of chairs and his TV. Not that he spends much time in there...he really prefers to be in the cozy living area with the other residents or in the spacious dining room where there is always some sort of activity going on. Olivia and Antonia are very organized, professional and genuinely care about each and every one of their special residents. The staff is always smiling and they like to goof around with Dad which he loves. The home is well staffed by trained care givers 24 hours a day. They think outside the box a bit including hiring a chef to prepare all the meals, and have lots of fun activities around holidays and birthdays. Family members are always wecome to join in the fun. Olivia keeps families in the loop with her fabulous monthly news letter which includes lots of pictures and activity up dates as well as some wonderfully bad jokes :-). We are very pleased with the care our Dad gets at Caring Hearts. read more
