While branded as an ACE store--nothing against ACE, I've found them in various locations, including Madison, CT, to be consistently excellent--Ridgefield Hardware has the look and feel of a true, old-fashioned, independently run store. The staff are all very nice and very knowledgeable. While I use Ring's End for bigger projects, when I'm looking for something specific and cannot find it at Ring's End, I more often than not find that Ridgefield Hardware has what I need. If you don't see what you want quickly, just ask. The great team behind the cash registers at the front will ask when you come in if they can help. Don't be shy--tell them what you are looking for--unless you are just browsing or know exactly where the items you need are located. It will save you time and they'll alert someone to help you. I'd give zero stars if I could. Their website boasts about how they are "committed to exceptional…read morecustomer service" and that "going above and beyond is an everyday occurrence at N&S". The customer service I experienced was rude and condescending. An N&S saleswoman ordered the wrong size fixture for my renovation and the showroom refused to take it back and exchange it for the correct size. After months of trying to reason with various staff, I had to take N&S to small claims court. N&S agreed to reimburse me for only half ($1200) and made me keep the unusable vanity. REALLY??? "Exceptional customer service" would have been to reimburse me in full and then sell the vanity to someone else, especially after I purchased over $7500 worth of fixtures from them. It's all about the money.... I would never recommend N&S to anyone.
