We tried: Gorditas, 5/5-it's reminiscent of Indian potato patties aka aloo tikki but with corn textures and undertones. Savory Waffles, 5/5-even if you've had chicken and waffles, this one is like an illusion item, you expect certain flavors and textures but encounter something entirely different in a good way. Papas con rajas taco, 5/5-the salsa macha elevates the fried potatoes and poblanos. Drunken mushroom taco, 4/5-dont get me wrong, its a great taco but you get something similar at Taco Bamba, Mi Vida and so on and by this point we were expecting unusual flavors and perfection from Cielo Rojo. Nopales taco, 5/5-by far the best, most delicate and fresh nopales we've had in the area, not slimy. Que Carajo cocktail should move to the brunch cocktail menu for good reason. Licor 43, cold brew, and carajillo are a win win at that time of the day. Tres Leches is another 6/5, a winner with that delightfully slight after taste or maybe fragrance of rose. We wanted to try the Flautas which had the can be made vegetarian/vegan symbol against it but were told that was a mistake and the dish couldn't be made without duck. Not sure if this is true only during brunch since some reviewers do mention the dinner menu having more vegan/vegetarian options. In either case, we'd love to return for brunch and try the dinner menu. These guys have something special on their hands.

Every component is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. I did really want to try their breakfast burrito and was sad (& surprised) they aren't open for breakfast on Mondays, because online it says they are. Anyways, we got there right when they opened for dinner and others clearly had the same idea. You order inside at the counter, sit and they bring you your food. Our food did take awhile to come out though, and we were giving the tables around us side eye for getting their food before us. We devoured our chips and salsa in the meantime. All 3 salsas are amazing and worth getting! They went great on the burrito too. Matcha horchata and Arnold Palmer were refreshing, and I appreciate the more inventive drinks than your standard taqueria. And now onto the main event... THE California burrito. Man, it made me happy to be alive. We sat on the patio and it was lovely, and shaded by the umbrellas.

Walkers, etc, any out door people, this is your spot! Since he's a biker, when he first came without me, he texted, "I have a place for us, that's not in your bookmarks". Juneberry Garage is everything it sounds like! First, the people here are all so nice! Ordering is easy, QR code in full effect, you don't have full service. For food, the smashburger is outstanding. Definitely a cut above the average. You can choose to get it as a single or double, and the fries were salty and tasty. Onion rings are excellent, too. The cocktails might be even better, which was a pleasant surprise considering these are the people behind Midlands and Ivy & Coney, two DC icons to be sure, but not exactly known as cocktail hotspots. These are good as any cocktail bar in the city. The Sicilian Kiss is a lemony/strawberry-y take on a negroni that hit. I love negronis, and I loved this. The bad bunny is also a delight. A nod to the Puerto Rican legend and our favorite furry friends, it has PR rum and carrot liqueur, and chartreuse! What a mix. Bonus points for incredibly kind and helpful staff, good prices, and the fact they use a QR code for ordering/closing tabs. Makes life so much easier for everyone. I will be back!
