Please be advised that this restaurant is run by teenagers that will take your order and are terrible, they must be the owner's kids cause nobody that terrible in restaurants would remain in the job. One of them was carrying a huge amount of plates to the entrance and dropped them and yelled a big FUCK. Then ran back inside and came back stomping and repeating fuck. As well they are very misleading, they don't have actual crab as they announce on their social media outlets. Attached a menu. I ordered a soda and the whole glass was filled to the top of tiny ice cubes and the soda was flat, wonder why???? I left after ordering the appetizer and went to a different restaurant. We tried this place out for to go crabs since it's crab season and stay at home orders are still in effect in DC. They were amazing!! We ordered a dozen large which they were not able to fill so they threw in a bunch of extra mediums beyond the dozen! They provide paper for the table, and all the fixings if requested. The crabs were cooked perfectly and quite dense for being so early in the season. The Cole slaw was fresh, creamy with a nice crunch, and the cocktail shrimp were on point. It was a bit pricey compared to others outside DC and Annapolis but it is NW DC. Will 100 percent be visiting again soon. Have to support local businesses at this time! read more

My Review In Statements #FoodCriticStyle: A hockey puck of crab meat sits daintily atop a thin layer of bright purple onion relish that covers the flat side of a buttery sumptuous brioche style bun. The top is brushed with a conservative amount of creole remoulade that melts into the cake and blends beautifully with the pickled onion below. Coleslaw is creamy, and though I scoff at the 5 dollar price tag, my food sense (much different than my common sense) begs me to get it because I feel it pairs perfectly with a crabcake sandwich. The portion of slaw is large. Clearly enough for 2 or maybe even 3 people, depending on how much of a slaw slore you are. I wish they would sell individual portions for 2.50. The crabcake is well cooked with noticeably brown top and bottom; almost resembling an english muffin. Having had the crabcake, I'm dying to try much of the rest of the menu. Things that really intrigue me are the : Crab balls, macaroni and cheese (with crab on top #obvi), the shrimp roll, and the hush puppies (just because their something you rarely find in the MD Burbs). The woman who handles my order and chats me and a fellow customer up is kind, friendly, trustworthy, and affable. This truck is parked 6 minutes from my home on a weekly basis now. I had a nice night out with my family at the Capitol Crab and was thankful for the patience our waitress showed even though it was later in the evening. Even with having to change an order because of a food allergy she was determined to get it right. The rest of the wait staff were also very attentive. My pick off of the menu was Battle Creek Oysters and Brussel Sprouts. I really enjoyed both and shared with those who could tolerate. The oysters come on a platter of crushed ice and the sprouts were on a separate plate so there's no cross contamination. Grilled Salmon and Green Beans was my sons order. I didn't get a good look at the salmon as it disappeared too quick if that's any feedback for you. I did try a couple of the green beans because you can't tell someone to eat their vegetables if you don't. The beans were buttery and delicious. The Fish and Chips were also very good. I picked a few off of my daughters plate for a taste test. She finished the entire plate which is rare. Fillet Minion with Steamed Broccoli was another dish we tried. It looked good but came out later than the rest because we found out that they fried shellfish in the same oil and had to send an order of Fish and Chips back. As everyone else was done and my wife didn't have too big an appetite so we took that one to go however, I snuck a broccoli off of her plate before packing it up and it was crisp and steamy good. We called ahead for some large crabs, and oh did they deliver. We had the freshest of crabs, and they were a good size. Pricing is decent being in the area it is located. So we get the best crabs here in season but decided to come by and see what their dinner off the new menu was like. we had the most amazing dinner. We had grilled calamari on a bed of fresh spinach with tomatoes, we had an elegant Lamb ravioli with the fig reduction and pomegranate seeds, the fruti di mare, shrimp ravioli, and dessert was devine. One of the worse experiences at a seafood spot in DC. We visited this location to celebrate a friends birthday. Before the water would even reach the table there was a large roach crawling across one of the menus. We notified the stay and they asked what we would like to do. We stated we no longer felt comfortable at that corner table. Finally after about 15 minutes of sitting at a table with a smushed roach on a menu, they relocated us. After another 10 minutes we were served the drinks we ordered prior to the roach issue. Initially when we were sat at the first table we were served with glasses, the new table they gave us plastic cups. When we asked why the difference, the serves response was does it matter? What kind of response was that? When we asked for straws the same young man brought the UNWRAPPED straw with his BARE hands and sat it on the table. We were stunned at the lack of hygiene. A few of us were ready to leave the location right there but the birthday person wanted to stay.. so we did. The orders were taken as the lady continued to play with and pull back her hair while taking the order. We proceeded through the meal, the food was tasty. There was no attempt to compensate for the experience and lack of hygiene... nor an attempt to have the manager, whose name is apparently Tim to come over to the table (after being requested during the roach issue). I know I will not be returning to this establishment and will make sure that everyone I knows is aware of this establishments lack of cleanliness, hygiene and professionalism. Update - After Tim left his response below.. I emailed him at the email address provided the next day. I have yet to receive a response as of today 8.14.19. Always looking for neighborhood options, we went there a week after they opened, so with a grain of salt. I LOVE the potential but with all new places, execution was still coming along. The crabs were good - a wee bit expensive - but I love the option. Also, delicious shrimp! The decor seemed a bit under construction still (I think it will be nice when finished...fwiw) but I'll cut them some slack. It was hard getting drinks and silverware though not necessarily the waitstaff's error as the tables were bare when sat and it seemed like the hostess didn't really notify them. No biggie, again, with a grain of salt. Menus were being improvised and they were out of some things but that's not what you're there for. The crabs were good! Again, somewhat expensive, but love the seasoning and accompaniments. Our server was super sweet, but overwhelmed. All just opening jitters. Hoping they add some more items and find price points that reflect the hands-on food experience crabs are. Otherwise, even in this neighborhood, it will be an only once-and-awhile option. Is there a better way to celebrate Memorial Day during a pandemic than to eat crabs on your deck? We didn't think so.... so we preordered two dozen large crabs from Capital Crab for our celebration. The crabs weren't ready at pickup time but the wait was not long.The staff was very friendly and well-masked, but would not provide paper for the table -- as they had in past crab feast pickups. The crabs were delicious. Sweet. Meaty. Steamed to perfection. My fault with Capital Crab is the seasoning. Unlike traditional Maryland crabs, Capital Crab adds the seasoning AFTER steaming. So the seasoning is an even more messy than typical crab feast dry rub, not the traditional wet coating. Capital Crab also uses their own seasoning, rather than Old Bay. Usually we give points for creativity... but not in a crab feast. We want traditional Maryland style steamed crabs. Folks can debate whether Old Bay is better or not; but for our entire family of five, the taste was off. We want Old Bay on our crabs... included when steamed. Not dry and crumbly. read more

I am torn about this review. We had a decent dinner there and I'd recommend it with some caveats. We started off with oysters - so far so good. We then asked the waitress for the market prices of the crab legs since it isn't on the menu. She said they were out of one type, but the other crab legs were $40. I ordered them. My partner got the mahi mahi. The crab legs were excellent and it was a generous portion. I thought it was a good deal for $40. The mahi mahi was a bit overdone but the risotto served with it was nice. When we got the bill, we had been charged $55 for the crab legs. We asked the waitress and she said she must have told us the wrong price, but she didn't change it! She just walked away! So, unfortunately, that left me with a negative feeling of the place. We were in a hurry so I wasn't able to look for a manager, but I hope that they see this review and can train their staff to better respond to such issues. read more

I'm a DMV native and have been eating Chesapeake Bay crabs for nearly 60 years. Got some beautiful, but extremely expensive crabs from Capital Crab and they were terrible/inedible -- likely frozen ahead of time or cooked way too long. The inside was packed with meat that was basically liquified into a jello like goo. Our guests stopped after one crab each. Thank god we had made some side dishes. We had a great and very family friendly dinner here tonight! I had tuna, my husband and dad had crab cakes, and my mom had salmon. We also had our two kids with us. My son loved the kids menu and there was plenty of room for the stroller for the baby! My tuna was great, and I am picky about how my tuna is cooked. My parents and husband also loved their food. We loved their crabs the first time but struck out the second and third time. Crabs are watery and have little to no meat. The steamed shrimp were over done and mushy. The service was slow, even bringing one order (the crabcakes same as another order at our table) much later than our others. My lobster was....meh. Small and also shredded in its shell. Went to Capital Crab for the first time on Sat Night. Loved it! Great fish entrees and two people in my party had the crab cakes and raved about them. Very attractive resturant. Only criticism is that the menu is limited. Seafood only. I suggest that they add a couple of meat entrees so parties with non-seafood folks could come along and enjoy the place. A neighbor recommended this place for carryout steamed crabs. Even with waiting outside to pick up "curbside," the waiter still created a nice aura of friendliness. And the crabs were very good, nice weight and well prepared. Expensive, yes, but crabs are expensive, their prices compare with other places and these were good. I visited with a large group (10 people) and we tried the calamari, crabs, oysters, ravioli, mac and cheese, and hush puppies. Everything was delicious. The waitstaff was also very attentive. At one point my beer was a little too frosty, and I told the waiter not to worry about it, but he discretely swapped it for another one. I also enjoyed the fun dessert menu -- it will make you smile. Expensive. VERY limited menu - when I went one of the fish dishes was out (and really, there is a fish market and supermarket across the street - is it too much to ask to purchase a substitute). Only six sides available, without a potato option. Opened recently, so do not go by the ratings from before 6/19 - they must be for another establishment/location. Very disappointed with the crabcake with coleslaw we ordered. There are certainly better ones to be found in many other places. It was supposed to be our big date night, but "dinner" was more like an appetizer and we both came home and added some real food. The server was quite laquadasical and the menu didn't really have much on it. I don't think I even realized there was a crab pasta dish or oysters, otherwise we would have splashed out more.
