There is a discount for military and Veterans and for people of a certain age. You start learning the history of the area, and how it came to be populated.  This island is on top of a salt mine, and it is evidently very beneficial to growing of peppers, and if the popularity of Tabasco is any clue, it is beneficial to hot sauce. I never really realized the whole process it takes to make this sauce, but I guess that is the reason for this tour. It is very informative, and I am glad that it is self-paced, otherwise it might be overwhelming. The tour covers several buildings and is self-guided with information placards to let you know what you are looking at, which is nice. I never realized just how many different flavors of Tabasco there were. Simply amazing. And Tabasco chocolate? A bit too tangy for me, but my dad loved it.
