Miami-Dade county continues to make mistakes and take steps that make me just scratch my head. Raising the price for greens fees to $109 for a round of golf is criminal. The quality of the experience, and the quality of the course should dictate the price, not some unelected bureaucrat who most likely can't golf. I was told today that the prices were increased to "improve" the course. Really? How about using common sense and fixing the course and then possibly raising the price because the course would actually be worth it? What a novel concept. Whoever the idiot was that got either a kickback, or was simply swindled by the Trackman rep, and put those useless arcade style trackman on the driving range, should be fired. Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars wasted and over $6000 a month in rental fees for absolutely useless equipment. And the $22 a bucket price for golf balls is insane. So let's add this up: Trash course in pathetic shape(tee boxes and fairways are garbage), other than the greens, which are decent. Inept management that allow entirely too many people out, with tee times too closely packed together resulting in 6+ hour rounds Over $500k in wasted tax dollars on pointless arcade game trackmans on a dilapidated driving range with exorbitant pricing Greens fees which have increased dramatically over the last 3 years that do not reflect the quality of the course, or the experience being paid for. To charge over $100 for Palmetto should be considered a crime. If you are a Miami-Dade resident, and you care about golf in this county, let the imbeciles who have made these idiotic decisions know how you feel. And vote with your pocketbook since we didn't elect these clowns- REFUSE TO PLAY COUNTY COURSES until they reduce the pricing, or provide a product worth the price. read more

Ok people have been talking a lot of trash about Palmetto, but they renovated the course about a year ago. The price is objectively a little too high for what it is unless you are a miami dade patron. The greens are pretty good, the fairways are in 6/10 condition, the tee boxes are about the same. The restaurant is quite good too and the staff is always polite. People clearly have had variable experiences but I wouldn't let that turn me away. read more

This course has to be the worst course I have played on since I was 15 using an football field In the off season to hit balls on. Tee boxes were a mess, greens were half dirt, "rough" was actually over grown weed grass so if you were 10 yards off the "fairway" you couldn't find your ball. New electric golf carts and polite cart girl were the only 2 highlights. They should close the course down for a year and fix it properly with an outside consultant or just sell the property and build houses. Big club marks in greens around holes and sand traps not raked after use. read more

The worst golf experience ever for us. We arrived 35 minutes before our tee time. Checked in at the un-pro shop. The two young girls working were rude and too busy with their phones to pay attention. The bathrooms are under renovation, so there is a Porta pot and trailer out front. There is no air conditioning in the trailer and the mens restroom stunk of old urine. We got to the starter 15 minutes before our tee time. There were 3 groups of 4 on hole number one waiting to start. The first group was hitting from the blue tees, and were definitely not that caliber of golfer. In addition they were all hitting two balls each. The two guys directly in front of us, who had a 1056 tee time told the starter they were waiting for their 3rd player. It was already ten after eleven, our time was 1104. We didn't get started until 1130. We needed to be done by 530. Due to everyone being bunched up at the first tee, we waited all day long behind several groups. Including the three who had to wait for their player. The most un-enjoyable golf outing ever. Won't be going back anytime soon, if ever. The greens were in terrible shape. ​Definitely not worth $95/each. read more

Solid course for the price. The course wasn't too long and consisted of a nice hole layout throughout. The bunkers and narrow inlet add a nice degree of difficulty without taking away a lot of shots. Tee boxes and fairways were in "good" condition whereas the greens were "okay." The course also has electric carts which keeps the course slightly more quiet and relaxing. Bar/Grill in the clubhouse area. The ranger was beyond friendly and helped me understand the course before teeing off. I would recommend this course and will be returning soon. read more

The ourselves went through extensive renovation and for awhile it was in pretty good shape. Playing there you see the improvement or not and after aerating most of the greens sadly most greens now carry fungus. WHY? If you play there, bring plenty of balls! read more

This golf course is the most convenient for my husband and I. My husband has been playing for several years, but I just started a couple months ago. This golf course is affordable, but it's still a nice course, things are in good condition, and the staff is very friendly. We come here at least once a week now... we don't play every round of golf here because we like to switch it up and see different courses, but we like to come to the range here bc of the convenience. The one thing I don't like about the range is that there are a lot of poles in the way... as a beginner golfer I'm especially concerned I'll hit one and damage a club. My husband actually dented his driver on one of the poles just recently.. You'll notice those are always the last spots to fill at the range, and for good reason. On Tuesdays they have a ladies golf clinic at 6pm, which costs $15 and includes all the balls you need. Totally worth it! I'm going to make a point to try and go consistently. read more

The course is nice. Front desk and staff.... HORRENDOUS!!! Unprofessional!! The cashier is plopped at the register eating and her demeanor toward patrons is atrocious. The same cashier, different days, same attitude. Unfriendly staff at the golf shop, you would think they were put there to serve their community service hours instead of actual employees. If there was an automated service to bypass the personnel I would use it every time. Enjoyable course, but you'd be playing 18 holes with the crappy service on your mind throughout. Not a regular golfer but Tushar and I came here to play a round at the recommendation of another Yelp Review on Kilians which said Palmetto was the better choice due to its better maintenance more classic course design and they also have a driving range to warm up. Green fees were $35 / person (25 after 3pm in Winter). I spent an additional unanticipated 19$ to rent a set of clubs because each player must have their own set according to rules of the course. We had planned on sharing Tushar's set and play scramble (aka best ball) but that's not an option here. $8 for a large bucket of balls to warm up at the driving range where we started out at around 2pm. Dispensing the range balls was not straight forward being first timers you entered a code which was printed one of the receipts. Thankfully someone helped us with this. Once ready we went to a club shack at the first hole to obtain our cart, included in the $35 price, and were directed to return by no later than 5:30pm. The driving range closes later but all play on the course ended at 5:30pm which is probably due to winter season. You need about 4.5-5 hours or 6hours if it's busy to complete 18 holes. We started at 2:30 and managed to get through the 12th hole before returning by the 5:30pm. The course has par 5, 450+ yards from the blue Tees and is fairly well marked although we had a few players whom we ran into that wandered onto our greens searching for their poorly hit shots and were a bit bewildered that the flag they were playing to was incorrect. As long as you keep to the booklet it should be fairly easy to figure out where the hole location is. The course is well maintained and designed. Given the location of the canal you must play long or short or loose a host of balls which we found out the hard way. It also has a decent 19th hole to water your dry throats at Sports Grill. Staff were helpful directing us to the 10th hole. Noticed many of the range balls made it over the right fence onto the 10th course which isn't that troublesome as the range balls are all yellow. On the plus side if you pick them up you can hit a few extra balls for free after your game is up. All in all had a great time playing here. read more

I'd like to start off by saying that our group had a fun time here. We played mini golf and the 18 holes were nothing special, pretty simple and straightforward but the mini golf on its own I probably would've rated 4, maybe 5 stars. I'm giving 2 stars because of the jerk who kicked us out 4 minutes before closing time without letting my boyfriend and his brother play their tie breaker. I pleaded with him saying we still have 4 minutes and he very persistently said we must leave because "they close at 9 and it's only 18 holes." I checked my phone and it was 8:56, plenty of time for a quick put to break a tie. Now, I'm not big on golf so I didn't know that it's customary to play a tie breaker hole in the case of a tie. He certainly must have known that, being he works at a golf course, but didn't care one bit and just wanted to head home 4 minutes early. Now I'm upset and he ruined our perfectly good evening over what would have lasted another 2 minutes, MAX. Th gentleman was wearing a blue polo and a Chargers cap. Very rude in my opinion and quite upsetting. read more

This is a good course and good value for the money. The front 9 is harder than the back 9 but all the holes are attractive. They do have one of the worst driving ranges I have ever been to. They have a very nice putting practice green. The Sports Grill in the clubhouse is very good. It is a little small, but the food is good, the drinks are better, and the service even better than that. All in all, Palmetto is a fair deal. I have been several times. read more

Greens were redone this year and the landscaping was spruced up. Certainly doesn't look shaggy anymore. Hole 7 is great fun (for my boys) because they love hitting through the water spray. Very reasonable fees and friendly to junior golfers. Great coaches here, we especially love Coach Scott who has been a wonderful coach and mentor for the boys, as us as caddies. Very helpful every step of the way! We've had a mini-golf birthday party here and again, the fees are very reasonable and the kids had a blast! Great putting green for practice but does lack a short game practice area (unless your a student of one of the coaches). Fun mini-golf for the whole family. This standby is a South Dade golf institution. One of the better reasonably-priced municipal courses in Miami-Dade, this 18-hole layout offers a solid challenge without beating you up too badly. If you like par-5s, this isn't your course - as a par-70 layout, there are only two 5s, #1 and #9. The rest of the course is basically an array of par-4s with a few 3s sprinkled in. Courses with a bunch of par-4s tend to be very same-y, in my opinion, but Palmetto's holes offer enough design quirks to make them interesting. Some of the shorter holes actually play much longer than you would expect, as they often have a strategically-placed canal that forces the golfer to lay up short of the water. And, some of the longer holes play right into the teeth of the prevailing wind. For most weekend golfers, 415 yard par-4s are difficult enough, but when you have to play them into a 20mph sea-breeze, you're really up against it. There are a few doglegs, and nearly every green is well-guarded by sand traps, so bring your sand wedge. This is often frustrating for me, as I like to play more of a bump-and-run game around the greens. With this course, you can't really do that, because of the sand and fluffy grass typically found ringing the greens. No, you have to be comfortable finessing short irons, flopping the ball up high and landing it soft. Still, the course is fair. Most of the holes are wide open, meaning you can dig in the tee box with your driver and grip-it-and-rip-it without worrying about slicing your Titleist into someone's windshield or living room picture window. Palmetto always had a pretty nice little bar area where one could indulge in a post-round beer or two, but now, the bar area has turned into an outpost of the Sports Grill - now you can enjoy wings, burgers, etc., along with a cozy sports bar atmosphere, after a round. read more

I took my son to play this course because this is where the County Championship is held for Juniors. I don't play golf, but I wanted him to get acquainted with the golf course. I was shocked by the prices for a County golf course. They charged me $21 for the cart and an additional $21 as a spectator to drive the cart for my son. He is only 13 so he cannot drive his own cart. The total cost of playing this awful course was $55, plus tax. The fairways look like the moon after a meteor storm. Not only are there numerous divots, but plenty of dead brown grass and plenty of weeds to boot. Would not recommend this course to anyone who takes their golf game seriously. If you want to play a county course that is maintained properly, go to Crandon Park. I planned a beautiful afternoon with my son and was sorely disappointed with this golf course. Will never come back again! We have played every Miami Dade County Course as well as many private course and this one, by far, is the most expensive and the least maintained. Juniors should not be treated this way! read more

Fun and a tricky course. Front 9 is more difficult than back. Played it twice when I've visited Miami this summer (2015). They are strict with the carts 90 degree rule most of the time. Which I guess keeps the course in better shape, but I'm use to loser rules for carts. Will definitely come back and play again. read more

The staff are nice and friendly and the mini golf is a nice touch. If, however, you are going to play golf, I would not recommend this place. Sure, it's the only place down south besides Redlands that is reasonably priced and public, but the rounds take forever as the management has decided to let everyone walk the course. So, if you are looking for a 5 hour plus round this is your place. Otherwise, I'd make the drive to play somewhere else. read more

We were in town for a winter break with an itch to play some golf. Palmetto was a great value and not far from where I was staying in S. Beach, so I figured, why not? We rented clubs for $30. Pro shop staff was friendly, as was the starter and the bartender at the turn. Golf course is ok, under average compared to ones I've seen. The course itself was simply up and back down over the same water in the same format. Rather boring. There were a ton of fire ants around the green on hole 7. Cart was dirty when we got it. Rude staff. The guy checking is in thought he was being funny but he was actually just sarcastic and rude. People were smoking on the golf course. We drove here from Daytona and only brought one bag of clubs, intended to share them because we have a small car and couldn't fit two bags. They made a big deal about it and we had to pay an additional $34 for rental clubs. The price of golfing to begin with was expensive for the mediocre course, so with the added fee it just wasn't worth it. Wish we would've skipped golf and spent our $100 on drinks by the pool at our hotel! read more

Not bad for a city course, good layout, decent shape

From a customer perspective who appreciates being treated respectfully, this place accomplished exactly the opposite of my one wish and, even though I did not personally play on the course, I will never be going back to give any business. I attempted to call the place on three separate days to see if the place was open and nobody picked up. Deciding to go a whim, I travelled 45 minutes to find out the place is not open due to COVID-19. I completely understand having restrictions and limits on the mini golf course, however, it would have been nice for them to either pick up the phone or made some sort of posting that their course was closed rather than having me travel a long distance to find out for myself. The manager called me almost a week after I left a message and, like many other people in Miami, this person could not take any sort of accountability and tried to switch the blame over to me saying that there had to have been some posting on the website (there still is not; you could go check for yourself). If I was a manager, the least I would do is apologize for having me be inconvenienced, and the most I would do is give me a chance to play a round for free as I wasted a lot of gas to travel. Like I said, I didn't personally experience the course, but poor managerial skills will prevent me from ever returning. Do better, Palmetto Golf Course. read more

This golf course doesn't even deserve 1 star. For a public golf course they aren't very friendly to new golfers, especially female golfers. My sisters, my mother,and I were "too slow" even though we only had one hit in before they came and told us the guys behind us who come everyday were concerned about having to wait. We were then asked to leave because the staff was confused about who was a guest and who was a player. It took two staff members to figure out the rules and to tell us after we paid that we couldn't play. The staff could have been more courteous since we arrived early at 7am to enjoy my mother's birthday. I guess their regular white and overweight golfers are more important than anyone else. This golf club acts pretty private for a simple public golf course. Get it together Palmetto, you're not all that! Also, don't kick us out and then suggest mini golf! read more

Chuck is absolutely awesome. We were visiting Miami to attend a Birthday party that was being held in the multi-purpose room there. My 2 kids and I ventured into the pro shop and we were warmly greeted by Chuck. He was friendly, polite, professional and pleasant. He assisted us in our desire to partake in utilizing the putting green. He definitely made our experience favorable. He is a great employee and should be recognized as such. We originally went to the golf course to play a 9 hole game of golf. They have a dirty and old mini golf course, a hitting range and an 18 hole course. The only reason I give it the stars that I do, is because they expressly stated that we were unable to play golf without having played before. They did not give us any information on how we can get started or give us options on taking a class before we can play. They just told us to leave. I would not recommend going there if you are looking to start playing. read more

My review is more for the guy named Jeff. The course was ok...a lot of back and forth holes...ok shape, but the price is good. We travel with 2 service dogs (both of us are type 1 diabetics). When we golf apart, we each have one with us...when we are together, we still bring both as I like to walk and my husband likes to ride. When we arrived, Jeff came out and asked us if we would each like a cart because it gets a bit crowded with all 4 of us. (Most courses just roll their eyes because a lot of people misuse the service dog thing to take their pets along for the day and it looks weird as we have 2 pups). Jeff was great. We said that I like to walk, so it makes it fine but it was nice that he asked. It was hot out yesterday. We usually keep the service vests on, but on days when it is so hot, we usually just attach them to the cart windshield. I was walking and my dog was with me but off leash as she will stay next to me. Another customer called the pro shop and complained that there were dogs on the course (we are used to this as well). Jeff came out to talk to me. (some courses will tell me we have to get off the course, which is against the law and they get all huffy about it), Jeff was amazing. He wanted me to keep her on leash, which is the law for service dogs in this county (we aren't from the city or even this state), I told him I would because I have no problem with that but my pup is under voice control and stays by me). He said "thanks for explaining to me", no problem, enjoy the rest of your round. I did leash her, but he was the most professional person I have yet met (and knowlegable) about service dog laws.
