After paying the nine dollars for a day pass to enter Sea Pines we followed the column of traffic…read moreheaded to Harbour Town, I've visited this location quite a bit over the years but it's been more than a decade and it seems not much has change except for the ridiculous amount of traffic on the island. I live in a tourist town in Florida so it's annoying but part of life in paradise. I guess the entrance fee covers your parking because it's all free once you pass the guard gates, all that's required is luck finding a space within a reasonable walking distance, I got lucky today being someone was pulling out just as I arrived at the preferred parking lot a stones throw from the pier. The pier is well constructed and offers some great views and a covered sitting area at the end. There are plenty of charter businesses that run parallel to the pier and a number of placards describing some of the local bird and sea inhabitants. I always spend some time on the local piers when visiting different areas they all seem to offer a few moments of serenity. There is also a walking beach close by that looks like it offers some shelling opportunities but today that option looks limited, I'm sure most visitors grab a few free souvenirs from here. It's a must do while visiting Harbour Town and this alone is worth the price of admission when considering the parking is free...

The perfect spot for your photo of the sunset on Hilton Head Island, there is no charge to visit…read morethe pier (you've already paid to enter Sea Pines) and you can easily get out over the water. We checked it out, took our pictures, and moved along. I think the Daufuskie Island Ferry might stop here, but certainly any number of harbor (harbour?) cruises depart and return from here. I think this might have been my first fishing expedition and I would do it again. I suggest getting there early enough to get situated. What I didn't know was you could bring backpacks and flexible coolers which are stored inside the boat area. Most people brought sandwiches and snacks for the journey. They also have a concession stand inside which serves food, snacks, soft drinks and beer. The prices are reasonable. Even the $85 for the 5.5 hour excursion seemed very reasonable as well. They provide all the equipment and bait. You just need to bring your skills or possibly patience. The crew helps to show you how to fish and takes care of anything you may catch and want to bring back. They do the fileting as well as packing of the fish. For my group, we just wanted to hang out and enjoy the open seas. Most of us caught something, but nothing worth keeping. All catch and release. We start out going through the tributaries towards Calibogue Sound towards Daufuskie Island. There are some artificial reefs we were able to anchor near. The Captain knows where most of the fish are. Some folks on our excursion caught some decent size fish which they were keeping. I caught a Croaker, but tossed it back. A family with small children had some sea sickness so it's important to bring Dramamine or buy some on the ship. My take it--- if you're a first time or casual fisherman, this is for you. if you're more of a professional, get a charter.

We had a fun time, saw some dolphins too and as far as I could tell everyone caught a few fish! We got to keep our croaker and whiting to eat at home, the others we tossed back. You may get sick. There's medicine on board and the crew is super attentive with cold wet towels, which is super revitalizing believe it or not. The crew is moving nonstop to help everyone but they're always chill and patient.

This is our 12th year in HHI and Papa Bear is the first charter we call every year, but because he gets booked out pretty far, this is just our 3rd time with him. With that said, my top 3 trips over those 12 years are all With Michael and Crew. I don't leave many online reviews but feel strongly with the statements above. Make sure you hit them up if you're ever looking to charter anything around HHI. Get well Michael, ready you see you out there next summer!

They were fantastic with my young daughter, who was shy and nervous about it. They just kept drawing her out and teaching her about the fish, and when we left she cried. As for the rest of us, they were kind enough to handle baiting and casting out our lines, and letting us reel in the fish when we snagged one. I could see that the boat was equipped for much more serious fishing, but they tailored the trip to our ability. The boat had ample shaded space, so we didn't fry out there either. We caught mostly sharks, and almost snagged one cobia. That would have been very cool, because when you dock they will take it to the skull creek boathouse to prepare for your dinner. All in all we had a great day, and I think everyone who goes to hilton head should go out with Papa Bear.

I found recommendations for Native Son Adventures on a Facebook group, looked at what they had to offer, and decided to call and check availability. We ended up not scheduling a full day on the water, but scheduled a morning tour and an evening tour. The morning tour included shark tooth hunting (the kids found 3!), fishing, (we caught 2 sharks), dolphin sightings, and cruising around the area. Our evening tour included a visit to shell island, some more fishing (we caught another shark), and a sunset cruise, and a stop to watch the fireworks. Both tours were on a tiki boat that had couch seating for 6 and bar seating for 6, so our family of 5 had plenty of space to move around and stretch out and relax. We were all very happy with the time we spent with Captain Will and Captain Byron. Both Captains made our tours a memorable experience for our family.
