Terrible experience - unprofessional and disrespectful staf I scheduled an annual checkup with Irene Spanos after having trouble finding a primary care doctor. I arrived 10 minutes early, was brought back within five minutes to take my vitals, and then was told--without prior notice--that this was being treated as a "new patient appointment," not a checkup. That was confusing, since I had clearly booked a checkup. After that, I was left alone in a small exam room for over 40 minutes without any updates. I finally went to the front desk to find out what was happening and to confirm the nature of my appointment. I was told Irene was "behind" and that they don't do annual checkups until after a new patient intake, which no one mentioned at any point before or during the visit. Most doctors do both at once, since it involves the same information. They told me Irene would now see me, so I returned to the room--only to overhear Irene Spanos badmouthing me, clearly frustrated that I had "left the room," even though I had been sitting there for 40 minutes without any communication. To make things worse, some staff members overheard what she said and apologized to me, which shows this wasn't just a misunderstanding--it was unprofessional conduct. This experience made me feel disrespected, dismissed, and uncomfortable, and I will not be returning. I highly suggest finding another provider if you're looking for a professional and respectful medical office. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

The nurse is sweet, front desk sweet, but if you are looking for a thorough physician (specifically in woman's health) this is not the place for you. You need 3 visits minimum to beg to get your hormones checked when doc clearly is reluctant despite 101 symptoms. Then the doc puts in a referral for you to go elsewhere when those levels are off like you knew they were. I called to discuss and no deal. This is just a patient mill. I can't even call to get something called Into the pharmacy.. they want another waste of time visit Even for something simple! this place is a pain. read more

I always receive excellent care at palmetto primary care physicians, particularly from the front desk and the medical assistants. They are thorough and communicative. More than once, I have witnessed the staff get berated by other patients for things out of their control, such as having to wait to be seen. The staff at palmetto primary care handles these transgressions with respect and patience. read more

Terrible. Left several messages for refile. No responds. Called to speak to someone. So rude and not nice about it like I am the issue. Not nice or understanding in any way. Last visit I waited 45 minuets after my appointment just to give blood that took 2 minuets. This last visit will be my last. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. They take forever to send over prescriptions. I have had to wait up to 9 days for them to send prescriptions and when I call they either don't answer or they answer and say they will call you back which never happens. They have screwed up my prescriptions because they take so long to send them over to the pharmacy. Please PLEASE go anywhere else this place is literally the most terrible doctors office in the Charleston area. read more

I've seen a few doctors at this office over the last three years as has my husband and we have never had a good experience. We will be searching for a new primary care provider asap. It's nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone, no-one has ever gone over lab work with me, my husband was billed for a visit that he never had and then told that he had to find the doctor that billed it as he no longer worked there. No one replies to my messages on the patient portal and I have always ended up having to go to the hospital or walk in clinic after my appointments here in order to actually receive care. I wish it was just one person as this is our closest facility, but I've had issues with two doctors, office staff, and billing staff. I would definitely look elsewhere if you're in need of anything more than a regular physical. read more

Lindsay Fried FNP is The Best. Full stop! I've never enjoyed a physical exam like this one. Great experience! Lindsay is personable, professional, and well-versed on the latest medications and treatments. I'm so impressed I booked another appointment with Lindsay. Alissa and Crystal are wonderful. Alissa went over my information before Lindsay arrived. Alissa gave me an EKG and drew my blood. I am, as medical professionals say, a "hard stick." Years ago at Georgetown University Medical Center in DC where I lived for 25 years it took a medical tech 8 tries to nail a vein. Crystal and Alissa got it in 3! Crystal helped Alissa with the second vial of blood. Re: swiftness of scheduling. I called Monday am. Got appt Monday afternoon. Receptionist Megan is lovely. I know Jonathan from visits with Lucy Davis, M.D. (No relation.) ​The Daniel Island location is three minutes from my house.Convenient. I've been going to Dr. Spicer at Palmetto Primary Care for almost 10 years and would recommend her to others. Dr. Spicer is so friendly, knowledgeable and professional, she is better than many other medical professionals I have seen. Whether it be the annual physical or a sudden need for medical attention, I've always been able to get an appointment and be seen by Dr. Spicer. I appreciate her calm & cool demeanor, she delivers quality medical review and advice. The office is actually in a great location with plenty of parking, and the office is very neat and comfortable. It's both nice and comforting to have such a Dr that you can count on in this busy day & times. read more

I've been going here since I moved to Charleston last year and I always have a good experience! Yes wait times can be a bit long but that's typical when you see any doctor. I usually go to Reilly, but saw Kristen today and both are excellent! I really feel like they care about my well-being and were intent on creating a care plan that would resolve any ailments I've been having. Can't recommend them enough! read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but this place is terrible. I'm writing this as I sit here waiting for the doctor to see me an hour after my appointment time--which has happened my last three appointments in a row. On average it takes over two hours to get in and out for a simple check-in appointment that should be no longer than 30 minutes. Several times my prescriptions aren't sent to the pharmacy following my appointment and it's impossible to get in touch with anyone from the office unless you're there, so I've gone weeks without prescriptions I've needed because of this. Trying to get a call back or speak to anyone here is infuriating and seems impossible. Go anywhere else. read more

Caring for me & my health hasn't been easy this year & I appreciate her going through it all with me. Hanging in there & being patient when they are short staffed is worth it. The place is great. However the "office manager" and first impression at the front desk, Amy, needs a new job. She has ALWAYS been rude and acted miserable every time we have entered the place. This practice is a disaster and makes an already not fun experience (going to the doctor) miserable. If you're looking for a new doctor RUN far far away from this place. Bitchy unhelpful staff, long wait times, billing issues... the list goes on and on. I honestly think sitting at the emergency room is a more pleasant experience. At least you'll be treated with kindness and respect there. Calling to make an appointment? Good luck. You think the front desk staff are rude in person? Just wait till you get on the phone with them. But hey, more then likely they won't answer. It's very obvious everyone here including the doctors hate their jobs. Lucy Davis is awesome.... down to earth,,, borderline super genius... one critique,, they over book, and doctors are running non stop.... Went in on a Monday morning with all new patient forms filled out and insurance information. Needed routine physical. 'We've got an opening at 830am tomorrow morning with a P.A. to start the new patient process.' Great, I'll be back then. Showed up the next day at 820am for the 830am appointment. The woman who made the appointment, and acknowledged making it, had no record of it. I was offered an option of waiting around for an opening or returning the next day. I don't think I want to trust my health care to this type of a medical provider. read more

It's an absolute shit show with super long wait times and a rude staff. Oh and not to mention they lost ALL of my shot records for the last 10 years so I got to go DHEC and get them myself. If you're in need of a new primary care physician, look no further than Palmetto Primary Care on Daniel Island! After toiling away in my search for an amazing doctor, I finally found her! I've been seeing Dr. Lucy Davis for 5 years now, & I cannot imagine a better doctor! (Seriously, if she ever leaves Charleston, I'll be inconsolable.) Whether in for a routine checkup or emergency ear ache relief, I'm always brought back quickly & the entire staff is friendly and helpful. I especially love going there because I feel like their patient care is top notch. (As a communications major, I'm a huge nerd & pay particular attention to the way hospital staff interacts with patients whenever I find myself in a medical setting. The staff at the Daniel Island location is amazing compared to other offices I've been to!) Dr. Davis takes great care to ask thoughtful questions & listens to what you have to say. I've never had a doctor that has made me feel so comfortable, and I've recommended her to every one of my friends! This practice at the outset looked ok, but after going in for a series of visits, the doctor (Thomas Bolt) always seemed to order tests that had nothing to do with the reason for the visit. Moreover, he wanted to schedule another visit within 2 months. Always. The final straw was when 9 tests (yes, 9) were ordered and I had to pay out of pocket (until deductable was reached). During the subsequent phone visit, only 1 of these tests were ever mentioned. When I called the office manager to complain, calls were never returned. Only when I contacted the patient liason did the manager call me and was curt and rude. I'm filing a complaint with the medical board. read more

I received probably the worst service I have ever experienced anywhere before. My scheduled appointment was for 2:30, I was not seen by the doctor until 4:30. I waited a FULL TWO HOURS to be seen, it was not during a busy hour either. The nurse was also very condescending and not at all understanding when I asked why I hadn't been seen yet. In September 2007, I finally found the Doctor I had been in need of. Dr. Leigh Spicer has been my Primary Care Physician since that day. I had many major medical issues and once surgeries were completed, my previous three primary care physicians could not determine which direction to go. It seems Dr. Spicer took my issues at hand and pin-pointed solutions and referrals to the best physicians under my insurance plan. The Daniel Island Office has always been clean and straighten. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Leigh Spicer and Palmetto Primary Care Physicians office on Daniel Island. I relocated to Charleston two years ago and waited almost a year before I began searching for a PCP because I dreaded meeting with a new doctor. I ultimately decided to try a Palmetto Primary Care Physicians office because they have several locations so I knew that I would always be able to get in to see someone, and they would always have access to my records. I currently live in West Ashley though, so I was equal distance from both the North Charleston location and Daniel Island. I'm so glad that I made the right choice with Daniel Island! The receptionist that completed my intake over the phone was very pleasant and matched me with Dr. Spicer. They are paperless, so there are no long forms to complete upon arrival. I was also able to schedule my first physical for that same week that I had called. Dr. Spicer was excellent. I have never had a doctor before who actually sat down in the office with me and took over fifteen mins getting to know me and my concerns. She was great about addressing all of the topics that I wanted to cover, in addition to making me aware of changes that I might experience with age. Talking to Dr. Spicer about your health is like having a discussion with one of your friends. She listens and actually pays attention to you and her nurse Lori is a sweetheart! This was completely new to me as I'm used to Dr's who breeze in and out of offices in less then 3mins after making you wait over 45mins to see them. Oh did I mention that my average wait time in the lobby is usually under 10mins? If you are looking for a new PCP, Dr Spicer with Palmetto Primary Care Physicians should be on your short list of doctors to look into! read more

Hands down the worst physicians office I have ever visited. The Daniel Island location, where I went, continuously double and triple books their MDs (multiple staff confirmed this), so wait times are long (1+ hours with an appointment). You can get a faster appointment by seeing the PA Kaleigh Scherick, but beware, she provided zero follow up on my test results. I was referred for two important ultrasound scans, both of which discovered abnormalities. I had to call three times to get my basic results and never once spoke to the PA, only to admins. All results delivered by admins who couldn't answer my questions even though the test results were abnormal. The PA couldn't make time to talk to me on the phone. Their referral department is backed up - it can take up to two weeks to get a referral to a specialist. I later spoke with the office manager Amy, who seemed very concerned about my experience and promised to call me back. Guess how that turned out? She never called back. There is at least one person here, a nurse named Fern, who really seems to care about patients and their health, but there are so many uncaring people along with a disorganized communications process and a broken scheduling system, that this office seems dysfunctional beyond repair. I now have to jump through more administrative hoops to get a copy of my medical records so that I can take them to a new physician. There are plenty of healthcare choices, I strongly recommend seeking treatment elsewhere - this place can jeopardize your health. read more
