The ladies at the front desk when I first came in, were quick to give me instructions on how to sign in and where to go to find her room. One lady even walked with me to the elevator and to the room to be sure that I found it. An employee came in to help her use the restroom while I was there and he seemed nice as well. I walked with her down to dinner and there was a woman working in the eating area who also seemed very friendly and cheerful. It seems like the employees really have a love and passion for what they do here. My grandmother's room also seems very cozy and homey. Only reason I left a star off is because my grandpa has said that some of the cleaning staff (He believes) have stolen some of my grandmother's belongings, such as her phone charger and other personal items. For the price that residents and their families pay for care here, it's really sad that this slips through the cracks and doesn't get corrected.... My grandfather and mother have mentioned this to the staff and were told the cleaning staff is a separate organization from them and they can't do anything. Seems like a cop out answer to me because someone is paying this company and there are other companies in town, that may not steal they could use.... So, they could at least notify this company that this is happening..... That being said, I mostly feel very confident that she's being well cared for and is safe here and that it's a wonderful facility. I saw some of the other residents there and they seemed happy.

We were not there…read morelong, but enough to know that the nurses and aides cared for their patients and enjoyed their jobs. The facility is clean and runs efficiently. The residents bathrooms are large, modern and safe. My Dad's room had two big windows with a birdfeeder outside. We had too many high recommendations regarding The Ware, to look anywhere else. The staff aren't very friendly to anybody. There are a few good nurses and CNAs that do their jobs very well, but there are so many bad nurses and bad CNAs that are there just for a paycheck and do a horrible job. The food is awful and I stayed sick most of the time from eating terrible and spoiled food. I would not recommend this place to anybody until they weed out all the awful people that work there.

So on one occasion, the regular caregiver found him on Monday a.m. in his living room asleep on the floor in the fetal position, with the same clothes on that he had on Friday. Clothes obviously completely soiled. The caregiver from Goodcare basically did nothing, while I paid well over $500 for the privilege. But, I realize things happen and I called Goodcare to let them know. They were nice enough and said they would take care of it. Several weeks later, the same thing happened. And of course they billed me for the privilege. So I called again, and told them I couldn't use them any more - I actually need someone to TAKE CARE of my dad on the weekends. Like shower him, change him, tuck him in. The kind of stuff that home care agencies are supposed to do. Jo Beth assured me she would speak with the owner and that he would contact me. I also asked if there was anything they could do about my bill, since I am paying for SERVICE that was never performed. She assured me that SOMETHING would be done and that I would hear from someone soon. Three weeks later, I've heard nothing but crickets. Sorry folks, but as far as I'm concerned, Goodcare is actually "No Care." And you pay $25 an hour minimum for "no care." Good day.

HOWEVER, the quality of day to day care was absolutely horrible and frightening for my mom and my daughter who stayed with her the first 6 days of her care. After day one, my mom wanted to leave by day two she was so determined to leave she went above and beyond what PT and OT were asking her to do so she could get out asap. She went in on a Monday and left that Thursday the same week. She really needed 2 weeks of care after a major abdominal surgery. In addition to poor care, their food was something from the 1950's - a lot fried, greasy, salty food and sugary desserts!! My mom had 2 feet of her small intestines taken out and needed to be on a diet that was completely the opposite of what they served. My mom eats healthy foods and needed a lactose-free, gluten-free, low sodium, no sugar diet and this place could not meet her dietary needs. I could not believe the type of unhealthy food they served the elderly. Thankfully my daughter was there to advocate for her. Unfortunately, the staff did not care. Multiple times they got my mom's food wrong, even after we were told it would be changed. I even had some food delivered from the local grocery store that would meet her dietary needs and they still got it wrong. Multiple times, my daughter was the one helping her to the bathroom, giving her a shower, and getting her the food she needed. My daughter should have been the one getting paid because she did the majority of their work for them. Housekeeping, especially in the bathrooms, was not sanitary. If my daughter had not been there, I truly believe my mother's health would have declined because she would not have been able to eat, she would not have been able to get to the bathroom in time or have a clean bathroom to do her business, and they would have just kept her doped up on meds. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I rate Five Points the absolute best ; head and shoulders above all the others in the city. This type of work is extremely challenging as you have hundreds of patients and each with unique demands and challenges. Their professional staff care for each patient with genuine interest and concern. If there is something being missed and the patient or their sponsors will communicate that need to the staff, they will take care of the issue in a timely and professional manner-- with a welcoming attitude and a smile. The upbeat, positive attitude of the employees is one of the primary attributes that sets them apart from other facilities . The exercise staff is truly the best. They work to help the patients improve physically and mentally , and they do it in a manner that makes the patients feel important. They don't just go through the motions in their workouts; as much as the physical challenges they provide, they provided warmth and emotional encouragement at the same time. If the patients want help and want to improve, they will get what they need from these professionals. The food is excellent and the dining room is always bright and extremely clean. If you ask they, will adjust food requests to your taste and needs. The entire facility is kept clean and spotless and even the cleaning and support staff have a positive and helpful attitude. They host daily games, challenges, entertainments to help improve the spirits of all the patients that want to participate. When my time comes Five Points is were I'll get checked in ; I've seen almost every facility in Amarillo. The challenge is to go visit a facility before you get yourself are someone you love admitted.
