A very decent hotel with some charm. The actual building has a vintage 1970 architecture. Everything from the stucco ceiling to the easy-ride elevator will take you back to a time before I was alive. The continental breakfast was on par with any other. Fresh coffee, baked goods and individual boxes of cereal. The tv channels are good, the view of mexico is relaxing from my room. Not too much noise interference from the trolly if you flip the air conditioning unit on. The price is comparable to any hotel in the area. Come here for the prestige. So the hotel is old and there does not seem to be any riff raff hanging around.So you do feel safe, parking lots are lit with lights after dark. The inside of the rooms are big and spacious. The beds are comfortable and more importantly No bugs.The maid service is the one bright spot, As they do their job, the room. Is clean and always fresh Staff was and have been helpful.The trolly center is about 2 blocks from here. And with that service you get around San Diego without all the traffic. Hotel is 70 dollars per night. Soda machine, no laundry facilities. But 5 blocks walk or a 4 minute drive and e is a large laundry..Starbucks is by the trolly station. If I could give this place a -0- rating I would. Reservations are cheap, no doubt BUT you'll get what you pay for...and LESS. I'd stayed there before but a second time for the 4th of July 2024 while on vacation, ONLY BECAUSE I got ripped off for a $473.52 Reservation that hotels.com expedian took my money THEN CANCELED. Soon basically, I surely was desper ate. This place, literally is a sleezy place, infested with drug users and prostitutes who frequent the premises especially at night. "Y" is the manager and his employee "G" is downright a CROOK. Both of my visits, THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS especially WOULD NOT WORK. Same for the so-called 41 cable channels... and the rooms AREN'T CLEAN, extensive damages from the front door throughout the rooms. Even the bathrooms, which aren't antiseptic from dirt and disease. Forget calling out. More than likely that too doesn't work. AC is available but the carpeted floors are wet. Moving forward here, pertains to my cellphone BEING STOLEN. Granted, I SHOULD HAVE NOT LEFT IT IN THE LOBBY BUT THE MANAGER SUGGESTED I USE IT. THIS WAS ON JULY 4TH. I came back TWICE before the manager left his shift. The third time when his crooked employee G came in, MY CELLPHONE WAS STOLEN. I asked crooked G when he got in and he BALDFACED LIED, saying 1130am, then changing it TWICE to finally the exact time. Y did NOT inform me he was leaving especially my cellphone UNATTENDED. I was and am STILL DISTRAUGHT BEHIND THIS. I asked crooked G to run the so-called "WARNING '24 hour video and surveillance on camera", which crooked G informed me is "JUST FOR 'SHOW'." I asked crooked G after begging him if he'd seen anyone to no avail to call the police. When he did he spoke Spanish even though I asked him to please speak English. Before the police came crooked G went to some vagrants vehicle after I'd asked them about my phone. I was livid asking anyone I saw, knowing Noone would really confess. That phone is very expensive and having 2 years data, pictures, recordings. Crooked G also came out of the lobby 2 other times before the police came, leaving the lobby unmanaged all 3 times, on one occasion speaking to an addicted client on the second floor who was watching everything. I cannot get my cellphone back. I've been kicking myself about leaving it and trusting the ManagerY. By the time the police came they probably sold it for a handsome price. My belief is this place intentionally disconnects their electrical outlets so clients have to find alternative help, like charging in their lobby. I say this also because on my first visit the same thing happened draining my cellphone but luckily I was able to get it recharged on my own. The Manager Y and his crooked employee G knew I had a flight leaving STAT the next morning. Y expressed to me only that I shouldn't have ever left it. Neither Y, crooked G nor the police addressed or took responsibility for NOT having CAMERAS THAT WORK versus cameras posted everywhere from the lobby throughout the entire premises THAT ARE FOR SHOW AND DON'T WORK!!! read more

This hotel was horrible the room smelled like and old bar, I tried running the A/C to get rid of the smell it didn't work. I sat down on the couch and it was hard and lumpy. I then picked up the rental agreement and started reading it which was really scary, it said they weren't responsible for bed bugs or injuries. I then decided to check the bed pulling back the sheets there was long strands of black hair, so then I pulled back the sheets yo the mattress there was big stains on the mattress I then went to the office in which the manager got irate when I told him he told me yo get out and never come back, he then got a housekeeper and followed me back to the room to get my stuff so I wouldn't steal anything trust me there is absolutely nothing in that room I would take read more

Years ago my partner and I would stay here and never had any complaints. Unfortunately this time around was the worst I ever seen. The hotel itself looks like its in desperate need of maintenance. The people staying there were sketchy and looked like people who used drugs. Our room was HORRIBLE. Visible graffiti, hair on the bed sheets, dresser broken down, blinds coming off and to top it off the smell from this "non smoking room" was disgusting. The crazy part was we went to talk to management and he offered us a febreeze bottle. I did not feel safe here and felt so uneasy about my surroundings. I had to take a loss with my money and just pick up and leave. It's unfortunate because a few years ago this was mine and my partners getaway hotel. We plan to NEVER come back unless it miraculously saved but even then I doubt it. It's a great centric location but just not well managed. Worst customer service ever. Guy named yogi answered the phone and has the worst attitude and zero willingness to help or take his time with customers. I booked a room for a family member and when they got there he wouldn't let them in saying that the reservation had not been paid. I made and paid the reservation online on their website but he claimed that their website doesn't work with capturing payments and that the room still wasn't paid and that I had to pay in person with cash or debit. I asked if he could take a payment over the phone or any other way to accommodate since I was not in town and they do not take any payments over the phone or online you have to pay in person. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I think they should change their management. read more

I needed a place to crash at a last minute notice. And I've stayed here years ago. It was clean last time I stayed here and it was clean last night when i stayed here. The sheets were clean, mini fridge, and microwave was clean. Everything was straight checkin was fast. $70 for a king size bed a little sofa to chill on. It had all the amenities I needed. I ain't got no complaints with the staff or motel. Checking in was as easy as checking out. I woke up with no bed bug bites nor did I see any. I recently checked in with my sons and wife and one of my two year old boys found a dead mouse stuck on a glue trap. We asked to be moved but no rooms were available at the time. The manager only offered $20 off are next stay and just looked at me it was not a big deal. S few things wrong. . You have RODENT infested hotel rooms . You knew about it because you put a glue trap in room (INSTEAD OF HIRING PROFESSIONAL EXTERMINATOR) . Your maids must not be cleaning the room well if they didnt notice the dead now smelling rodent behind couch. . My child found it and played with the disease carrying dead mouse because whoever set that trap didnt check it for days its been dead so long its starting to smell. read more

The motel reminded me of a hotel I stayed in TJ - Mexico. Dirty and old! Motel room -family suite was spacious with 3 Cali king beds,fridge, microwave ovens, cable television, and working air conditioner. These were the pluses. But, rooms were not clean enough (found a spider nesting in the bathroom & roach was discovered in one of the fridges) and furniture was outdated. They advertised Free Wifi? How ridiculous! I brought a laptop & tablet which were wifi enabled. Unfortunately it was inaccessible. The motel owner & staff were great and customer focused. Motel price was cheap. For the price of this hotel (we paid 55$) it was worth it. Not my first choice in hotel considering location and looks, but for that price you can't really complain. They have nice TVs with lots of channels, it was fairly clean, it was noisy outside our door but we were just staying there to sleep one night so we really didn't mind! Someone broke into his room, stole some of his stuff and when he told the front desk about it they denied everything he was saying. The next day he took all of his things with him and when he went back to his room the door latch was hooked locking him out of his room. After hours of looking of me and my dad searching for a room, we had to settle for this one for a few nights. The staff was super nice, older little Indian feller and really nice cleaning lady. Upon entering the room it looked and smelled clean (very happy). Carpets were even clean. Made me feel much more comfortable when I seen that Other families were staying here (I watched parking lot for a few minutes). I was concerned about the noisy palomar st. but with windows closed you couldn't even hear traffic. Continental breakfast was not to my standards (cause I'm a fatty) but it was good enough for my 8 year old and the Starbucks is in walking distance. Overall I was pleasantly surprised that it was a decent, safe and clean hotel. Is definitely stay here again. And for $70 a night whatchya expect!? :) oh FYI there's no pool! Boo! read more

Stayed there a couple of times. It's a safe and quiet place. They have some of the cheapest rates in the county in my opinion. Location wise it's ideal. It's within walking distance of the trolley and bus station and highways. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping stores around too so you don't need to drive at all. I have stayed here many times over the years and have enjoyed my stay every time until last night (8/9/17). In the middle of the night I thought it had started raining and I got up to look when I realized the sound was coming from the bathroom...when I opened the bathroom door to look I saw water pouring from the ceiling and the bathroom was flooded. I immediately called the front desk and told them, all they did was offer me more towels. After watching the water pour from the ceiling a few more minutes I called the front desk back and told them to come and look...when they came they were shocked, the bathroom was completely flooded and the water was coming into the rest of the room and was also going outside the room...that's when I noticed all the water stains on the outside carpet...this was not the first time it had happened...the Manager apologized emphatically but never offered to move me to another room or any kind of discount or refund. I have been here a previous time and it was an ok price 98.99 for a one bed room, came with a mini fridge coffee pot, microwave, and a flat screen tv. Although they say "FREE WIFI" the wifi connection is terrible and every time I had tried to hook up to it it said "no internet connection". This most recent time I stayed was terrible, I had got a room with my boyfriend at the very corner room 215 to be exact, and experienced bed bugs!!!!!! All along side the bed there was bed bugs, and they weren't little, they were huge! Told the supervisor or whoever was at the front desk & he offered us a lousy 20$ discount. What is 20$ off of 98.99$?? And with bed bugs?!?! Then while my boyfriend & I are at the front counter there is a cockroach behind him! My boyfriend asked what that was & the supervisor responded with i don't know probably a cockroach... Worst service and experienced I've ever had. NO ONE WASTE YOUR MONEY OR STAY AT THIS PLACE. Ive been here a few times. I say its ok although they can do a better job with cleaning the sheets. The wifi doesn't really work that well. Shower is kind of hard on your skin the way the water comes out. The free soap is a no go but what do you expect. They are cheap just 70 for one bed and 90 for two. Cons: NOISY people, you can tell there is very shady activity going on there, you can hear the people above you walking and watching tv. Rooms are somewhat clean, with the exception of the bathroom, the shower was extremely dirty. Front desk staff are just below average on customer service, not very willing to help and not professional at all. Our trip was last minute and we didn't want to spend too much. I wish I would have Yelped them first before booking a room. If you're looking for something better try La Quinta or the Holiday Inn (I believe it's a Best Western now). Stood there on 06/18/2016 in the family suite. Outside my room door was a stack of dirty towels and linen when I arrived to my room. At night my kids noticed a huge bed bug on their sheets. The smoke detector started chirping at 2am due to low or dead battery. In the morning I called to get my toilet plunged and was told to pick up the plunger from the front desk and do it myself. I explained the issues I had to the guy behind the counter when I checked out and he said I should have reported the problems when they occurred. Stayed here with my two little ones. Got the deluxe room w/two beds. Upon arrival the gentlemen at the front counter was polite and attentive. Check in went smooth. Room was fairly clean. The only thing I didn't like were the smudges on the walls. Room had a microwave, coffee maker, fridge, an iron and ironing board for those that don't like stepping out wrinkly. Beds were clean and comfortable. A/C worked great. Nice tv's, and Wi-Fi although the service would come in and out from time to time. Maids were very attentive and allowed me to get what I needed straight off their carts. Location is great. 5 min down the road from the shopping plazas on Palomar street. Right off the 5 freeway so easy access. There is also a gas station right across the street. I gave it 3 stars because of the overall cleanliness and they don't offer breakfast any more just coffee however, I recommend this place. Great value for the location. Had a comfortable and private stay with the fam. Not the most luxurious looking place but the best bang for your buck. read more

ok so when me and my boyfriend decided to go to chula vista for a vacation we found this hotel and booked it.From the price we assumed that it wouldnt be that great but we were both wrong.(: The hotel to us was more than comfortable the maid service did a great job very nice friendly people.The hotel was by many places that could help with the common needs like a grocery store for snacks and the gas station is rite across the street as well as the the freeway if you wanted to go sightseeing.The hotel also offered pretty good channels so we were able to watch the big basketball game and soccer game no problem.All and all we slept comfortably and the hotel is defintely one that we would go back to if were ever in chula vista again.GREAT PRICE.GREAT HOTEL.PERIOD. read more

This place is horrible and a waste of money. It is right next the free way (I 5) and a very close to a busy street. The rooms are extremely uncomfortable and noisy with street noise. The owner is an Indian guy, very tricky, dishonest and misleading. He tries to say good things about his hotel which none of them are true. Do not fall in his trap. My wife and I reserved a room online for $68 per night, which was not bad, but for reason, and we changed our mind about it as soon as we arrived in the parking lot of the hotel. I asked the owner that I was not happy the way the hotel was described online and that he should refund us, but he even did not want to talk to me. We should have left when we saw that the parking lot was empty. This place should not be called hotel. read more

My family stayed here for several nights and had a horrible experience. Rooms was affordable but the first night we had ants in our childrens room around one table in the adjacent room. My wife found a live cockroach in her drawer. I went down stairs to speak with staff and they assured me that if we leave food out bugs might come no food was left out. They apparently sprayed the next day and a few days later the bugs returned. I went to see if they could offer us some sort of discount or anything for inconvenience and was told they would check with management. Also had several days that our keys did not work. Also micowave didnt work. Ironing board fell apart. Our son got a rash after sleeping in their beds and ants and cockroaches returned. Even after no food was left out. Was told that they would accommodate us a discount but need to book online to assure the room would be available but after we did no discount was given even after everything that happened. Would not recommend anyone to stay here. Pay the extra and stay somewhere else. read more
