So the hotel is old and there does not seem to be any riff raff hanging around. So you do feel safe, parking lots are lit with lights after dark. The inside of the rooms are big and spacious. The beds are comfortable and more importantly No bugs. The maid service is the one bright spot, As they do their job, the room. Is clean and always fresh Staff was and have been helpful. The trolly center is about 2 blocks from here. And with that service you get around San Diego without all the traffic. Hotel is 70 dollars per night. Soda machine, no laundry facilities. But 5 blocks walk or a 4 minute drive and e is a large laundry..Starbucks is by the trolly station. Over all I would recommend this spot to both friends and relatives.

    Clearly can see it's blood

Horrible hotel and absolutely disgusting health standards!!! We came to town for a concert. At first we thought oh well this is just a cheap motel, we can deal with it for 1 night. Absolutely NOT. There was evidence of blood on our comforters (multiple beds) ... roaches in the bathroom... just unbelievable. The manager was great, apologized and handled the situation. But just the fact that the housekeeper obviously didn't care and the facility didn't follow proper cleaning and sanitizing was disgusting.

Walking into the hotel to check in was a very unwelcoming energy, but as soon at the door opened to my hotel (111) i was absolutely disgusted, there was dark brown staining on the bathroom walls, staining on the sheets, a dirty floor but above all a bathroom with no door handle ( wish i could say i was joking). On the contrary the price is 100% reasonable but personally, i would never stay here again.

Chula Vista is a cute neighborhood. The hotel promised quit settings , the smoke store and 7-11 across from it made me doubt that when we first arrived but it turned out to be totally true. The neighborhood is super safe and has everything you will EVER need right on 3rd. The lady running this hotel is super organized. We booked the largest room as we had a 4 night stay. The bed and pillow were cozy. Towels ample in the bathroom. The parking lot on the side dedicated to guests was a life line and so practical. Water pressure and temp were perfect. Spacious bathroom. Cute and large outdoor space. Coffee and tea for guests ready in the lobby every morning. I appreciated that the other guests were equally as quiet as that as it is an old building and you can hear other folks' convo from room to room. As it is often the case no matter how expensive your hotel is. Five star if the trash had been emptied and the bathroom had had a refresh. Booking was easy , payment taken on arrival , easy check out. We'll be back.

Let me start by saying that the gentleman who helped check me in was very friendly, and went over the amenities, breakfast and such. I reserved 2 rooms for 1 night, one room for me and another for two family members who were traveling with me. My king bed room was clean, some dust here and there, especially in the closet and on the iron stand that was in the closet but had no iron. The bed was clean, as was the furniture, and the window/wall AC unit worked great, as it was a warmer day in Chula Vista. There was a dropdown blackout panel that was a little worn out, as well as a dropdown curtain sort of thing that you could also bring down, and this probably needs to be replaced as it was quite dirty and had a pretty big stain on it. The king bed and pillows were comfy, and again, for one night, they did the job. The one complaint I personally have, as my relatives two doors down didn't have this issue, was the plumbing in my room. My toilet took forever to flush! At first I thought it was clogged. I mean, I'd flush it and the water just went around and around and... almost to the top, until it finally slowly flushed. And the shower/tub was similar as the two times I showered I'd end up standing in about an inch or so of water as it was not draining properly. I literally had to step out of the tub, and rinse my feet one more time since I had been standing in the water I had just used to bathe in. Also, our rooms were on the side of the hotel that faces the freeway, and I'll just say, you can hear everything. If you're a light sleeper, which I am not, you might woken up if there are loud cars or trucks driving by. I tend to sleep like a rock, but was woken up twice by (what I assume were) bigger/louder cars driving by. Again, for a night's stay the price was right, but I don't think I'd stay here again.

Upon arrival we had to return the bath towels because they were dirty! The apologies were there ,but a red flag should have gone up! Furthermore, on the mattress's left hand side there was a dip my entire body fell into when I laid down! We thought of calling downstairs but considering it was a holiday weekend we anticipated no other room availability. When we checked out we spoke to the front desk attendant, who came across as completely uninterested in our compliant and his demeanor was completely unprofessional. All he did was hand us a business card for a manager Daniel Escalante. We proceeded to file a formal complaint --resulting in an offer for "reward points!" No thank you we want partial or full reimbursement for this catastrophic experience. Absolutely a NEVER again go back and we have had numerous good experiences with this company. We are awaiting a call back from someone in the customer service department as soon as this coming week.

The facilities are clean and I appreciate that they do not charge for parking or WiFi. The location is convenient in terms of many dinning options nearby and easy access to I-805, which connects to I-15 and I-5. The pool is small but it has an accessible lift and two cabanas, lots of lounge chairs and high top tables and chairs, making it a good option for unwinding. The rooms were quite clean and spacious; we had rooms with two queen beds and they did not feel cramped. It would be helpful to have more than one chair in the room--might help with space to only have one but if more than one person is in the room, that's a challenge. The beds were comfortable. The room darkening blinds work really well so another lamp would be nice for brightening the room at night. The location of the coffee bar is a little challenging to reach for people with mobility issues. The addition of the nightlight in the bathroom was really helpful. The only difference between the accessible room and a non-accessible room is a visual and audible doorbell; shower chairs are available upon request but grab bars by the toilet would be helpful.

The staff was great, the accommodations were fine, and the included breakfast was actually better than expected. However, be aware of "nickel and diming" tactics. I booked through Priceline and paid $143.97 (including all taxes and fees). A few days later, a separate $1.09 charge appeared from the hotel directly. When I called, I was told it was a "safe fee." We were never informed of this fee, nor was it itemized during check-in or on the third-party receipt. While the amount is small, these types of undisclosed fees feel like a fraudulent business tactic. It's disappointing to see Choice Hotels International, Inc. following this trend. They lost a customer and future word-of-mouth recommendations over a dollar. I'm grateful the fee wasn't larger, but it's the principle that matters.
