Horrible customer service. I called to ask about a specific size of Ace wrap. They are a little bit hard to find in person so I asked twice to make sure they have the one I wanted. The woman on the phone said yes. When I walked in, she was on a personal phone call and she barely stopped to help me. When I told her I was the one that had called about the Ace wrap. She handed me the wrong size. I said no I need the larger one that I asked for on the phone. She said this is all we have. And I said well why did you tell me that you had the size I wanted on the phone? She stared at me and just went right back to her personal phone. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

Buy from another small business instead, or even Amazon if you have to - they will have a much more reasonable return policy! Unfortunately, the Palomar store Rep was deceptive in his communication on the return policy, and overall, Palomar has a very unreasonable return policy - at least on rollators, though I suspect also their other products. Purchased this $300 rollator for my father who was not able to go to the store to pick it out. We asked the store clerk whether we could return the rollator if it didn't fit my dad, who is 6' 2". The clerk said "oh of course, though we have a 10% restocking fee. Just bring it back with the receipt". I said "that's fine - I know restocking fees are common." He did not say we had 2 days (though we met that criteria anyway), did NOT say we could not bring it back if my dad "used" it, and said nothing about the wheels needing to be in pristine condition. First of all, I don't know how my dad was supposed to determine if it's a good fit for him if he doesn't "use" it at least a little bit!! As I said, I brought the rollator back 2 days later since the it was uncomfortably low. The handles were in the highest position and the device says it will fit someone 6' 2" which is not true. Since my dad is prideful and didn't really want to use a rollator in the first place, the only places he tried it out were in our house which has slate floors (approx. total 20 yards around our 1000 sq. ft condo) and walking on the sidewalk to the car (a 75 yard walk from our condo front door to our parking spot). I also wheeled the rollator to my car when bringing it out to return it to the store, and then wheeled it from my car into the store. By the time I entered the store, there was a little dry dirt on the wheels from the sidewalk wheeling. I approached the same clerk who sold us the unit to let him know we wanted to return it because it is too low for my dad. He glanced at the tires and immediately said "oh, no, I can't take this back - it's been used!" What surprised me was that he was so emotional about it! I said "he only used it walking down a sidewalk once, and just a little bit around the house to test it out to make sure it fit!". The clerk retorted "there's no way this was used on a side walk one time". I said "well it's true!". Of COURSE, I didn't count MY wheeling it out of the store to my car, then from the car to my house the day of purchase, and the reverse the day I returned it - how does that count as "using" it?? At any rate, the clerk angrily grabbed a rag and spray bottle from the counter and gave a half-hearted attempt at wiping one of the front wheels. Then he said "There's no way that's coming off, and there's wear on the wheels. I can't re-sell that - it's not resell-able! My boss is going to be back tomorrow and he'll fire me (or maybe he said "kill me") if I take that back! And besides, look on your receipt. It says items cannot be returned if they've been used." He seemed on the verge of tears, so I left, rather than watch a grown man cry. I almost felt sorry for him, until later when I remembered that he never told us the items could not be "used" when I specifically asked about the return policy. Again, how does one know if a rollator is a good fit if one doesn't "use" it at least a little bit?? When I got it home, I gave the wheels a good cleaning (what I assumed my $30 restocking fee would have paid the clerk to do). The pictures are posted. My husband and I came to ca with my 84 year old mother. We didn't realize how much walking and how far our rooms were in the hotel. My mom couldn't walk that far so we borrowed a wheelchair from the hotel that was a piece of garbage. We looked up surgical supply stores and spoke to Chris. I was impressed with the good service I got while purchasing a new nebulizer mask kit. I was able to make a 40-second phone call to them and they knew exactly what i wanted and knew off the top of their head that they had it in stock. This is the second medical supply company that I have found that overcharges for subpar customer service and product. I am really disappointed in my experience here. I have multiple physical issues requiring medical equipment, and half of what they charge you for and say it's not covered I have actually found that my insurance DOES cover, even if I have to ask some questions and occasionally fight to get the coverage. To me, this is dishonest and slightly misleading. Compared to some of the insurance-recommended places we've used, like Apria and LifeCare Solutions (which has moved out of the area, so there are even fewer choices to choose from when it comes to these device offices), we have had better service and luck with them (although not MUCH better - it's difficult to deal with these companies and their constantly fluctuating prices!). The price point is dizzying - especially when you spend more than half of your income each month on medical related expenses. Like the other company that I used and reviewed, however, I'm not above understanding that sometimes, a place can just have an off day or two. I'll likely also give them another chance or two before making a permanent decision, and I may update my review once I see better customer service and maybe some more reasonable pricing, but as of right now, I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone I know. read more

My family came a long way to visit this weekend, and my nephew forgot a key piece of his ResMed cpap equipment. We searched all over the San Diego county area for a medical supply house that had that part in stock, and that was open on Saturdays. The one and only store that was open on Saturday, and had in stock, was Palomar Medical Supplies. Kim went over and beyond the call of duty to help us, and was knowledgeable and friendly. Insanely expensive! Huge mark-ups and horrible service. I went here to get electrode pads for our TENS unit, which normally average about $5 to $10 a set. They charged me $20 and gave me an excuse of how they're all American and British made (the pads are basically a small length of wire, cloth, and gel). A new TENS unit was $120, and it's the same analog Chinese made one I bought online for $35. The lady that helped me was rude and acted like I was imposing on her day (even though I was the only one in the store besides her two children). She never once smiled, nor talked other than to answer my few questions regarding quality and pricing. Seems to me most of her merchandise was basically the same as anywhere else, but with 3 to 4 times markup over wholesale. read more

These are the rudest people! To be in a business where you provide medical accessories for people, their customer service needs some CPR. I went in to get replacement pads for a TENS unit. Before I could explain to the guy what I needed he over talked me. So I asked could I see the pads, he rolled his eyes and went in a huff to get them. He came back, literally throwing them at me and started speaking to as if I was a moron. Then I told him they wouldn't work because the ones he had would not fit. I showed him my TENS unit and he was like "oh yeah...these won't fit." I commented about his rudeness and he tried to apologize, but...damage done!!! We had to get another and in an emergency because my son had a contest the next day very early. I called Christian and he waited for us past closing about 30 minutes til we could get there. Was driving down to San Diego from LA last weekend and needed new CPAP supplies. Called on the way down and they new what i needed and confirmed they had in stock. Came into the store and owner took care of me got everything i needed and then some. Was sympathetic to my condition knew the right equipment to recommend and even gave me a volume based discount. I appreciate people who take an understanding of people's conditions and provide good customer service. They had the batteries for my scooter, and put them in. Whoever had owned my scooter previously did something crazy with it, and it was a real beast to get them out, but Christian was friendly and managed to get it done! It would have taken me 10x as long to do it myself, if I could have at all. Superb customer service from him. I rented a wheelchair from here for a week to be used on a three day outing in L.A. (Disneyland, etc), for my visiting family, and to be used for local sightseeing. Once up in L.A. and using the wheelchair for the first time, the chair proved to be defective and totally useless. Substitute chairs had to be rented at the venues visited for a much higher cost. When my family came back after the three days I returned the chair to Palomar. Because the chair was useless from the start I asked for a total refund. I was told by Palomar that no refund would be given because I should have returned the chair immediately for a replacement; but they would deduct one day's rental for returning the chair early. After explaining the circumstances to Palomar, still no adjustment was offered to me. Palomar made no attempt to offer a reasonable adjustment or future credit for their defective rental. Any business can drop the ball for reasons good and bad, and I always allow the opportunity to correct any miscue. But when a business such as Palomar Medical Supplies displays a total lack of customer service and no business integrity, I feel compelled to warn as many consumers as possible. We searched high and low to find a walking boot for out 8 yr old daughter. Not only was Palomar Medical supplies extremely helpful on the phone, but they had the lowest price as well. I rented a three wheel scooter for one day. When I returned it it was in perfect condition later that day I got a call saying that there is a rip in the armrest and I know for a fact I didn't do it. I don't see a negative one star as that is what this place deserves. This place is downright disgusting. Filthy is too good of a word for the standard of cleanliness ! Rented a wheel chair due to a severe foot surgery that had no weight bearing for 6-8 weeks. Paid for it upfront (1st mistake) took it home and it smelled like URINE. Brought it to the back- yard and hosed it down using 100% bleach. That didn't help. So I repeated it with hot soapy water and a nylon brush. Still stunk like an outhouse at a construction site. Felt like this needed a "car wash" at a commercial car washing place but the management there said no. Took it back to Palomar Medical (AKA Palomar sewer farm) and said that I was smelling the "new leather smell". Really !. New leather like a new car has--Yup said the vietnamese owner. Took it back home and turned it upside down to rewash it and then for the first time saw the URINE stains. Yuk. Loaded it back up, kept all windows open to prevent from passing out and causing a accident. Owner says no refund during the 4 week period since it was a contract . I told her I created the word B.S. and it was getting mighty deep around here. Leaglly, this is what is called a "condition precedent" to the formation of the contract and both sides have a duty to act in good faith. Called my bank and was informed to deliver it immediately back to Oceanside. I was so happy and shoved it into her building and told her to smell it yourself and demanded a receipt. Bank will provide full credit after 3 days. I filed a complaint with the San Diego Health Department. Was going to call the fire department for an immdeaite hose down but the cost was too much. The hose pressure would have made this a flying wheelchair and caused unknown injury to someone.--who then would need a wheel chair. Folks, if you need a wheelchair go to some reputable place or the junk yard--you would have better luck. They don't belong in business where someones health is a concern.
