So yes, I have taken a full and complete look at this business and my experiences with it and simply had a different experience than others. I took lessons here awhile back and have recently been taking lessons at a different business recently. The lessons at My Chicago Golf started out well. Marcus was attentive and was able to make a difference in my game. Things were going well. That is, until, he slept through one of our scheduled appointments. His system sends out numerous reminders about upcoming appointments to customers. Unfortunately, it seems that it only sends them out to his customers, and not to him. We had an appointment scheduled, and I showed up fifteen minutes early. His storefront was locked, and knocking and ringing the doorbell did not yield any type of response. Unfortunately, emailing, texting, and leaving voicemails also did not make a difference either as they all went unanswered. After waiting about forty-five minutes for a sixty minute lesson, he finally opened the door. At that time, however, the customer for the next hour was already waiting at the door! That customer was courteous enough to let me use his scheduled hour, and he rescheduled with Marcus. As the lesson went on, Marcus did apologize for sleeping through it. He said that he overscheduled himself that morning, which caused him to oversleep during a nap. He was definitely drowsy throughout the appointment, and wasn't entirely alert or focused on my swing. What disappointed me the most, however, was that he didn't take responsibility for his mishap. Mistakes happen to everyone. Apologizing is only the first step in taking responsibility for those mistakes. He didn't offer an extra free lesson or a refund, or anything for that matter, to make up for his major mistake. This last part that is why he is losing two stars. If he would have taken responsibility for his failures, I wouldn't be as disappointed with him. I even would have used the final lessons I had in the package I purchased. Instead, I let them go unused because I was so let down by him. Missing an appointment completely without notice and/or an acceptable reason is a huge negative and a large problem. These lessons are not cheap. What's even worse is not taking responsibility for it. Mistakes can be overlooked, if the person making those mistakes owns up to them and takes responsibility. Unfortunately that didn't happen here.

As someone who is just getting started golfing, he has really stressed the fundamentals while still pushing me to get to a point where I have the necessary skills to be able to practice and grow independently. The difference I see after each lesson is measurable and I've always left with things to practice (with videos demonstrating the exercise) so I can continue to see growth. Additionally, his location is a fantastic setup with some of the newest golf simulator technology to really enhance the lesson experience. I did a fair amount of research on different golf instructors and facilities in Chicago and am thrilled I landed on My Chicago Golf. I can't recommend Marcus and My Chicago Golf enough.

Easy booking and friendly staff. The course wasn't busy at all on a Saturday afternoon so pace of…read moreplay was phenomenal. It's a little tricky to find the entrance, which is along the fence on the right side of the parking lot. You'll have to walk through a tunnel with your bag to reach the clubhouse area. Carts aren't permitted in the parking lot. The beverage cart stopped by as I finished the first hole saying she was off but the halfway house would be available, and it's quite accessible from multiple holes, just not in a single spot. This goes for the porta-potty availability as well. The course itself is well maintained and has interesting holes. Most are pretty straightforward but there is some thought to put in on where you hit for some holes. Cart paths are rough in some places and there could be some signage to help navigation but it's not hard to reorient yourself. I was pleased to find ball washers full of soap and water on every hole, though they did lack towels. Cart GPS was nice to have but may not have been super accurate on the flag position itself. No matter as it gives good measurements to the front and back of the green, just factor in the elevation when you hit. The starter helped with distance to trouble off the first tee and cleaned my clubs at the end of the round. 18 is tricky and I was aiming at the wrong green for a couple shots as the flag was hidden against the background of the building so I'd recommend putting the cup front or back to avoid a white flag. This isn't a long or particularly difficult course and I played my best round ever here but I would still absolutely recommend it as a good value for being fun to play, friendly staff, and no crowding.

What's most frustrating is that there is absolutely no information on their website, social media, or anywhere on the property stating that children are not allowed. Had this policy been clearly communicated, I never would have wasted my time driving there. The entire experience felt less like they were enforcing an established rule and more like they simply didn't want the inconvenience of checking us in and accommodating customers. The staff showed little interest in finding a solution or even acknowledging the lack of transparency regarding their policies. If you're planning a visit with your family, be aware that you may be turned away without warning. Businesses have every right to set their own policies, but they also have a responsibility to clearly communicate them. Unfortunately, that was not the case here, and it resulted in a disappointing and frustrating experience.
