We have loved going here the last several years. Sadly after speaking with the owner we will be finding a new place to go. Pre bagged chicken breast in the blue bags as most of the time, filled with breast that have clots. Understandable a machine is weighing it out and sealing the bags. I want to see with my eyes what I'm purchasing. It's known 10lbs of chicken breast is discounted. But only if it's the pre bagged ones. Which I've had multiple times where I asked to have a human bag my 10lbs of chicken breast to make sure there's not blood clot chicken breast bc that is a waste of time and money to throw it away or have to take it back to get it replaced. Nope Owner didn't care to hear any of that so I had to tell him we will be finding somewhere else. It's a shame truly how these companies are. Patronage means nothing when it should. We have been buying meat here for decades and have never been disappponted by the product quality or the service. They are careful about their sources and only buy meat where it is high quality and well cared for. They can tell you which local farm each cut came from - try that at your grocery store! This 1star review is not about the quality of the meat. It's about ordering a package. When I got back home to put my package in freezer I noticed I didn't get my 5lb of chicken. I called and the woman that answered insisted she gave me a green bag that had the chicken in it. She had that tone in her voice that I had to be lying. So I told her I would like to speak to her manager, she said she was!. If you purchase packages from here make sure you have it all especially if you have a 30 minute drive. I have never had this happen at my usual meat market. If you like being treated like your beneath the employee just because you get $114 in food stamps because of herniated disc I had to quit working at Aldi. I'm on SSD not because I'm lazy, because I'm in severe pain daily. She" manager" definitely needs to stop judging customers. She needs to learn how to have people skills immediately. My famliy had a pig dropped off to be processed. We were never called to pick up the pig and after 3 weeks we called to check and were told the pig was ready 1 week after it was dropped off.. We picked it up Friday after Thanksgiving. We needed to pay the farmer who dropped the pig off, but had not been given any type of "weight" slip. We called to get that information guessing they would have some type of record only to be told they didnt show the pig with our name anywhere in their files, but would dig deeper, took my name and phone# and call me back.. After 2 days with nothing I called. When asking about it again on the phone the girl asked a guy in the backround and after hearing him she came back and repeated what he said and it was. "We dont have time and we have a bag of paperwork here if he wants to come here and go through it he can". I repeated this to the girl on the phone to make sure I wasnt hearing things....and she said "yes" thats right...you cant come look through the bag if you want.... I called and spoke to the owner "Keith Palumbo, owner" and explained to him what just happend to me on the phone. He stated that it was his son working at the Sandy Lake location that he couldnt believe he would tell a customer that. I confirmed again exactly what I heard and was told. I dont know if it was his son or not. Keith then told me that maybe that was said out of frustration because the "girls" that work up there he feels are worthless and he has to do everything., but he would find out whats going on and call me back.. Which i did not need to hear and only comfirmed my feelings about their professionalism. Keith did call me back to say that they looked for the paperwork I needed for 45 minutes with no luck....and the computers had crashed so they didnt have the records I needed...never aplogized for what was said to me or how I was treated... He took the price I paid for the processing and did an "estimate" of what the pig weight would have been, but that was it.....we still have no way to ensure the farmer who dropped the pig off of the actual weight of the pig before processing....The whole experience with Palumbos from start to finish was very unprofessional. I will not send anyone that way and will not be making any future purchases. I feel like the attitude is that they are doing me the favor....Keep that attitude up and see how things work out for you in the future....you cant charge premium prices and treat customers that way without it catching up with you somewhere down the road... I stopped in on January 31, 2014 to pick up steaks for a birthday dinner. They didn't have any filets fresh, and though they said the filets were only put in the freezer in the past hour, they were rock hard (the clang when they hit the floor as the saleswoman dropped one was incredibly loud). I settled on two porterhouse steaks, a delmonico, and a strip. I refrigerated them the moment I got home (10 minutes from the store), and cooked them about 2 hours later. One of the porterhouse steaks had a faint strange smell, but I trusted the shop, so I cooked it. The other 3 steaks were great - but that one porterhouse was spoiled. Four people tried it and all immediately spit it out. I called the store the next morning and spoke with the male owner. He said the cuts were fresh but that he didn't want to lose a customer so he would replace it. I traveled back to the shop that day, and he was an arrogant jerk. He told me that he personally cut the steak himself and that he can't imagine it was bad. He also said we should have brought it with us - well, I did. He smelled it and took a huge bite - made a face of disgust - but then said it was fine. I was shocked. He treated me like I knew nothing. As much as I want to support local businesses and especially local farmers, I can't abide by this treatment. The steak was spoiled. He should have just accepted it and offered the replacement without judgement. He's lost this customer and I hope others need my advice - if everything is good, there are no issues; but the moment you question something, you will never be treated with respect. read more

Buyer beware! We have been loyal customers of palumbos for many years...even since before the fire. We moved to Southern Oh about 13 years ago and they are still our go to meat market...we stop a few times during the year and keep our freezer stocked. We made a point to make the trip this past weekend and bought several items...close to $200 worth! $60 of that was for chicken wings. We came home and cooked up some of the wings...they are horrible! Tough and very spongy. We can't even bite through them and they have absolutely no flavor. My husband called to ask if we could bring them back. It was an emphatic no - basically sorry for your luck! They told us they ate the wings and they are good. They didn't eat the wings they sold to us! Needless to say, they don't care that they are losing our business and that of our family who still live in the area. They just responded. "That's too bad - but you can't bring them back. They would not do anything to make this right...no refund...no new product...no discount on future purchase...nothing! $60 down the drain...this is not right at anytime....let alone during these times of uncertainty due to the COVID 19 pandemic. read more
