The young lady at the front desk was very nice, professional and helpful. After filling out the paperwork I was called inside by a nurse that got my vitals. The nurse was very nice, she asked the questions needed of me. She was professional and kind and took her time getting my details as I had many. She never rushed which is a def plus. Shortly after she was done the PA I was scheduled to see came in, we discussed the issues I was having, she was knowledgeable about things that many doctors I encountered in the past did not know, so I was impressed. She took her time listening to me and informing me of my options. I went there very anxious because I had been in pain for weeks and did not know what to expect. All of the staff I encountered were wonderful and I had a very positive experience. I even got a call from them the next day to let me know that they had contacted my insurance about an issue and gave me an update so I can get my medication. I really appreciated that. Very impressed and very thankful to everyone there. A note to future patients, especially the ones inclined to leave 1 star reviews, be nice to the people taking care of you, they are people and being nice to your healthcare workers will make them not only do their job to their best but go above and beyond to be helpful to you too. I know this for a fact because I have been sick half of my life. God bless, and thanks again

Family member had to change pain management doctors due to insurance. She has been with the new one…read morefor close to a year. Since the new place was absorbed by APC it has been a miserable and PAINFUL experience. She has been without a needed medication for almost 3 weeks while fighting a potentially life threatening infection. Have called the number at least 50 times and get sent to voicemail, never a return call. They actually answered yesterday and said the medication would be ready by end of day, it was not and still isn't. Went to the office last week about this issue and couldn't speak to anyone besides the front desk due to "policy". This is incompetence, medical negligence, and mal-practice. Will be contacting the states attorney and a personal one for action. This "consortium" acts and feels like a complete scam with no regard for patients.

Reading my first review from 2017 really reminded me how far I've come in my journey to get my…read moremigraines under control and how horribly my migraines disable my life, when the pain is left unmanaged and improperly managed. Now, in 2021, I feel I finally have decent control over them, as long as my medical needs and medications are met. Timely is the key...and that's the only frustration that remains for me sometimes, when working with this office. The staff is unbelievably professional and kind. I've lost my temper a few times thru the years out of pain and frustration. Yet I have always been treated with professionalism and understanding. I've watched other patients walk in and begin yelling at staff up front about things that are completely out of their control and the way they handled it was seriously impressive. When I mentioned it to my neurologist, she explained that they know how pain effects people...and often it makes them angry. I can sadly relate. Hence, a huge reason I want my pain managed as best as it can be. This office has fought back and forth with my insurance for as longs as it takes to get them to approve needed medications and given me samples to get me thru. Ultimately, I'm glad I stayed with this office. My daily chronic migraine is, by my standards, decently under control. I'm still debilitated 3-5 days a month, but that feels like nothing compared to 20+ days a month. There is still an issue of things slipping thru the cracks with voice-mail requests. It won't happen for quite some time and then I seem to hit a wall of it happening several times in row. This is clearly a busy office, and in all other areas I'm pretty happy.

I left a number for a callback. Nothing. 35 days after the referral I called again, and finally received a return call. The "lady" that called me had a total case of attitude. Before receiving the call, I had researched the practice reviews. I responded to the attitude by explaining that I understand why they have a 1.3 rating out of 5, and had neither the time nor patience for such nonsense, and would seek another practice. I have a very complex medical history and I am new to Indiana. I must say, when it comes to neurology, I am not impressed. Be your own advocate, or have someone knowledgeable advocate for you. But you do NOT need to tolerate this behavior from ANY medical "professional." Too bad ratings do not go below one star. And yes, it was the office staff, not the doctor giving me attitude. I can't speak for others, but can you trust a physician with your healthcare needs who obviously can't even monitor or control the office staff? I can't. I have had extensive experience with neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, hematology, both vascular and orthopedic surgery in the Cleveland Clinic, OSU, UC, and UWV with top notch treatment across the board from skilled professionals referring me when an issue was outside their scope. Unfortunately not my first rodeo. But there is absolutely no reason for such treatment before ever seeing a physician. If some wannabe office sergeant can't handle a simple referral, what will happen when you really need information relayed to your provider? I didn't request the appointment, myself. My cardiologist sent a referral on my behalf. I will be making certain he reconsiders referring to this office again. All that's really needed to change his mind is to have him read this page.

However, I was unable to get past the rude receptionist. I had called to see if Dr. Smartt was accepting new patients. The person on the phone indicated that he was taking new patients. She said I needed a referral. I explained that I was currently see a Neurologist however I wanted to see Dr. Smartt instead. She said I needed to have my records sent to the office. I went on line and filled out the documentation, when to the office to take the application along with my insurance card and identification. She stayed on phone after I walked in. Another person came in behind me. She got off the phone, spoke with him for a few moments and then he went to sit in the waiting room. Meanwhile, I am waiting to see if she will address me since I had been waiting for her to get off the phone and to speak with me. Finally, I walked up to her desk and explained I was the person who had called to see if Dr. Smartt was accepting new patients. I told her I had filled out the documentation on line and that I had filled out the request to have my records submitted to Dr. Smartt. She took the paperwork and said she would call after she received the records. A week has past, I had not heard anything from Dr. Smartt's office so I called to see if the person at the front desk had received the documentation, she said she had not received the documentation. I contacted the other office, they indicated they had sent all documentation to Dr. Smartt's office and that they had document to show date and time. I ask if they could resend the documentation. They had no problem resending the documentation. After they sent the documentation they called me back to let me know they had resent all documentation. After two weeks of not hearing anything from Dr. Smartt's office, I called his office to ask if they had received my records from the other office. The person who answered the call asked me for my information of which I gave her. She then placed me on hold for 23 minutes and never returned. I called back, and the answering machine immediately sent me to voice mail. I called back again, this time it gave me a message saying that they could not see me until they had receive all records. The documentation as sent twice as of today (a month later) no follow-up phone call. I also hope that the person who did not follow up has shredded all my PHI as well as the copy of my insurance card and my ID. Needless to say, I never got to meet Dr. Smartt. I will never know if Dr. Smartt was a good as the young lady had indicated. Hopefully, if you want to see Dr. Smartt you will find a way to see him, as I was unable. Good Luck
