I've been meaning to write a review - I had an awful experience with Pamela and her husband. I booked her for a maternity shoot and she was disorganized and rude, especially afterwards. We had decided on a sunset shoot, Pamela suggested the time and location, but didn't know that the location would be closing 15 minutes after our scheduled shoot time. We scrambled to find a backup plan in the area, and she offered no opportunities to reschedule. I paid for a shoot that included "unlimited photos," but she didn't send me many of the photos I remembered taking, claiming that they didn't have any more images and that the lighting was difficult for them to manage. She then tried to charge me over than double what I had already paid for the shoot for specific file types, editing, and more. read more

Pamela and Derrick took our engagement photos and were such a pleasure to work with! They were friendly, and had a fantastic eye for what would work well. Both of them took incredible photos and were helpful in posing us in natural ways and we felt incredibly comfortable! My partner who usually is uncomfortable in front of the camera was thrilled afterwards and told me that he enjoyed the engagement photoshoot very much! I've been meaning to write a review. I found this business on Groupon, which says a lot. I would not recommend this business. Pamela is unprofessional and a thief. Initially, I scheduled and paid in full for a 30-minute mini Christmas shoot 30 days ahead of time. She texted me on Christmas Eve after 10PM to notify she may be canceling due to the cold Chicago weather. I expressed my disappointment and advised if she needed to cancel to refund my money. She needed to discuss with her business partner what to do. She texted me back an hour later, saying she would proceed with the shoot. On Christmas day, she called to notify the hotels policy on professional photography in the lobby and the need of a permit. I suggested she just take photos in our "large" apartment like 800+ sq ft suite. Pamela said I'd have to pay extra and schedule in advance due to the possible lighting and needing to bring additional equipment. I encouraged her to just capture fun non-candid photos. She declined, and of course, I was disappointed and expressed that to her. I chose to cancel the shoot and reschedule for a later date. Per Pamela's words, her policy allows you to reschedule within six months. I have reached out to her SEVERAL times with no avail. She will not respond to my emails, phone calls, or texts. More importantly, she hasn't returned my money. Unfortunately, because I Zelled her the payment, my banking institution "Chase" can't reverse the transaction. So,I am out of money and no photos or services ever rendered. I will post on every social media outlet to let the public know what kind of business she runs. Absolutely awful company, listen to the bad reviews and do not book. We had a photo shoot scheduled which they confirmed multiple times and as recent as 24 hours prior to the shoot. A few hours from the shoot they sent me an email, which I almost missed, (who sends emails and does not call/text?) saying due to traffic they could not make the time and they asked me if I could reschedule to the next day. How does a photography company that travels to clients choices of location not understand how traffic works already and plan their days and appointments around that? How is this company still functioning - albeit very poorly.. (Sidenote: the window of time they gave me for the reschedule had rain in the forecast.. wouldn't that be the first thing a photographer for an outdoor session checks?) I responded to them that no I did not want to reschedule - the weather was perfect and I had already gotten my hair done - and that if they were late that would be fine on my end. They said it wouldn't be fine because they had a session after mine. A few things here: 1) why would they tell me they had a session right after mine and 2) why wouldn't they cancel the other session if they were so haphazardly trying to cancel mine? I asked them this second question along with asking them if they were going to pay me back for the money I just spent on my hair given the photoshoot was the only reason I did that. At that point they simply stopped responding so there was no official confirmation that the photoshoot was canceled, but they simply did not respond to any of my emails, texts, or calls (email screenshot attached where emails happened over the course of 3+ hours of hearing nothing and not knowing whether the shoot was still on as originally agreed to). This company is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever come across. I would highly recommend staying away if you don't want to be put in this position of complete frustration (and lost money). Four hours after the shoot was supposed to take place Derrick finally responded to me asking if my message to him indicating that I was planning on posting a review was a threat (see attached picture). These are simply not people you ever want to deal with - they have no remorse for being an unprofessional, rude, and anything but honest company. I'm convinced they are a scam. DO NOT USE THIS PHOTOGRAPHER. This women is an atrocity to work with. We agreed to have a photoshoot with my family. Last second, she cancelled on the photoshoot and didn't say anything. Plus, she didn't refund my money for the photoshoot when I paid for the photoshoot and I paid extra for them to travel out to my desired location. On top of this, she was extremely difficult to work with due to her lack of communication and dishonest way of doing business. I wasn't planning on leaving a review nor did I want to but I'm left with no choice. I hired them for an engagement shoot in October and unfortunately since it was my first photoshoot I was overly impressed by the pictures. So, I decided to book them for my wedding photography and videography, which ended up being the biggest mistake. A couple days before the wedding I sent a detailed Google doc of everything we wanted pictures and videos of. We got the album of pictures a couple days later and while there were some great photos, many were taken from awkward angles, too dark, and unedited. I had to edit each picture I downloaded. When we got the final video edit, I was shocked and disappointed. It was a 5 minute long video with more than half of the video being of just the decor and hall set up. I was completely shocked when I started watching the clips of our entrances. They were taken from horrible angles with bad lighting. Important moments are missing, such as the grooms entrance. We were so devastated and had to beg our wedding guests to send us any pictures and videos they had taken and we are so grateful that so many of them got amazing footage. My husband and I texted them a long message detailing everything that went wrong. They responded with many poorly thought out excuses and no apologies or solutions. The average person could have taken better videos and we could have saved a thousand dollars. They made excuses about why the videos are from bad angles but to be honest, there is no excuse. We asked them for unedited video clips so we could salvage the video and put together clips on our own but apparently they can't do that. Long story short, do your research before hiring just anyone to capture your wedding. They seem like a fine company for portraits and headshots but I do not recommend them for event photography. I found Pamela on Groupon and decided to use her for photos. I'm currently expecting, and my family wanted to be in photos so her Outdoor mini session for 1-5 people sounded perfect. I spoke to her on the phone, discussed the plan and confirmed the location and date. I texted Pamela the night before to confirm everything and we were good to go. The morning of, I got myself and my entire family up very early to get ready, had someone come do my hair, and drove 25 miles to the city. Paid for parking, texted Pamela to tell her I'm there and that's when she texted me and apologized saying she never looked at my booking. We walked all the way to our meeting spot for her to say she won't take pictures because maternity is different than Family photos. On the phone we specifically discussed maternity photos and she never said they were separate packages, and nothing specified me not being able to be in the pictures because I'm pregnant. I purchased an Outdoor photo session for 1-5 people. I asked her if she can still take our photos, as I had my children all ready to go and she said no she'll just refund me. Not a care she had 0 remorse for the fact we were all dressed up and everything that went into getting ready for photos. I saw her with another family immediately after she turned me away. She refunded me ASAP which prevented me from leaving an honest review on Groupon. Which is how I'm assuming her reviews on Groupon are good, because they're not great in other places. The amount of money and time that gets put into getting photos taken was maximized and Pamela ignorantly took all of that away from my family and myself. I don't consider Pamela a photographer at all. She didn't try to work with me at all on what we can do after cancelling on me the moment my session was going to start. 0 stars, would not recommend someone who does business like that. read more

We had a fantastic experience with Pamela and her husband. Having a photo shoot with 4 boys between 9 months and 8 years, we were hoping for one picture to turn out. We actually are having a hard time narrowing them down because so many turned out beautifully! They work great together, especially with children. Our boys were immediately comfortable with her husband who joked with them and took care of getting them into position so Pamela could focus more on getting the shot. Quick turn around, professional, great demeanor and, most important to us, very understanding and accepting of the needs and expectations of kids. We appreciated that they took some great "posed" pictures but also took some fantastic photos of our kids playing and acting naturally. Would absolutely recommend. read more

Not being from Chicago I had no idea what they were talking about and then they told me that my 10 minute Grace period was up and that I would have to reschedule. If I could give this business 0 stars / negative stars I would. Pamela and her business are extremely unprofessional and a complete fraud. She failed to deliver photography services to our group with less than 15 minutes notice. We were all waiting for her to take our grad photos, and got to campus with plenty of time to spare early in the morning. We were then notified that she could not find parking only 10 mins ahead of our photoshoot - which is absolutely not true, given that we were located in Hyde park which is a public area beyond the university (which offers a ton of free parking for everyone). Not only that, she did not offer us a full refund as she stated over the phone. She also did this to the group right after us. I have called her over and over again since then, and she has continuously avoided my calls. Which she would not do if she had nothing to hide. I had to resort to calling her through my friend's phones in order to ask her when I'd get my money back. She refused to return my group's money, so I am now considering legal action. This business should not be trusted by any means, especially when you are looking for a kind, friendly, trusted source to take your photos on some of the most special moments of your life.
