I bought a voucher with groupon or living social for colour, haircut, a treatment, and a finish. Firstly, the staff are beautiful! And for me this says a lot. If they look good, I figure I will look good. However, my stylist spent most of the time talking to his very good friend, the other stylist, about something they didn't want to share with me. I could hear whispers and they were trying to make the conversation obscure so that I couldn't tell what they were talking about. I thought it was rude. There was a stylist in a chair getting her hair done by another stylist. Then, there was some sort of photo shoot of the salon. I was not happy about this, as I did not consent to being in publicity photos, especially not with wet colour on my hair. I felt uncomfortable. The stylist was messy in the application of colour to my hair. I have blotches where there is no colour. The best part of my experience was a nice girl who brought me a coffee and the shampoo massage was quite nice. Also, the voucher said I would receive a treatment, but I think all they mean by that is that after shampooing, they will condition your hair. Overall not the best experience. The stylists need to focus on the customer. I think that this salon has a lot of room to improve. I think it would be worth going back in 6 months time to see if anything's changed. read more

Thanks to www.Wowcher.com, I picked up a couple of vouchers for eyelash extensions and eyebrow threading at the recently opened (late 2010) Pampering Palace. I was expecting a quick appointment, a half arsed application of eyelashes and an average tidy-up of my brows. Instead, I found a really considerate group of beauticians and hairdressers who are led by the very kind manageress (whose name I can't remember, but I think it begins with Z...). A friend joined my Wowcher.com experience, and also booked a colour/cut. She paid a mere 43 for her hair, and our eyelashes cost another 40 with the voucher. The manageress is a sweet little Iranian woman, whose three daughters also work in the spa/salon. After a little kerfuffle, she began doing my eyelashes, chatting to me about all number of topics, and taking a solid hour to apply individual lashes. By the end of the appointment, I looked hot. Not just average post-salon hot, but actually hot. Eyelash-fluttering, groomed-brow raising, I was about to leave for lunch (see my review of Bardolino), when I noticed two clients with their feet in fish tanks. The manageress said they were doing a promotion for Garra Rufa fish pedicures (just 15 pounds for half an hour), and I couldn't help but say YES. If you've never had a fish pedicure before, be ready for a very unusual sensation. It's not painful or uncomfortable or even a ticklish sensation, just... odd. The fish tanks were cleaned between each pedicure (don't worry, you won't be sticking your feet in anyone else's dead skin!), and my feet were surprisingly smooth afterwards. There was no rush to leave, and all the staff seemed happy to chat. It's clearly a happy place to work, and I am definitely going to come back. The only flaw, and the only reason I reduced my review rating by one star, is their organizational skills. While I appreciate any new business takes time to get on its feet, and no doubt the Wowcher offer led to a huge increase in appointment requests, I arrived at the spa after an hour on the tube to find a voicemail message telling me they had to reschedule the appointment. It turns out their staff member called in sick, but I should have been informed about this more than an hour in advance. Moreover, the appointment was rescheduled for the same day, just an hour later, but it took a good twenty minutes for my beautician to set up the room and ensure she had the right lashes for me. The quality of the service was not compromised, but I have a feeling Pampering Palace will need to tighten up their appointment system/organization if they want to succeed on Chiswick High Road. Their prices are by far the best along the high street, but locals won't return if they continue to struggle with their appointment calendar. NB: Do look for more discount vouchers for Pampering Palace on the web before you go -- if you can't find anything, try calling them up and seeing if they'll give you an ad hoc package deal. I saw three customers wrangle discounts while I was at the salon -- definitely worth a shot! read more

This place is awful. I can only assume the other reviews were posted by the owners as it's a new family business. I'd be surprised if it lasts a year. First of all no-one answers phone and when they do they're offhand. They cancelled on me after doing groupon 'deal' and I'd already waited a month. I tried to call to confirm next appt but phone was engaged all day. Anyway I arrived and it was open, messy looking salon and all staff including owners sat around washing each others hair etc and generally unprofessional. The owner then had a shouting match with a customer on the phone and hung up on them, unbelievable! My hairdresser a nice guy but couldn't spk or understand English. At this point I was worried. He pulled out hair colour chart and I had to point to what I wanted so couldn't even ask advice. Cut a long story short the highlights are awful and hair cut poor. He blow dried half my head then said rest isn't included in price. I had to finish styling my hair when I got home 3 hours later which I've never had to do. Generally I would AVOID AT ALL COSTS and don't listen to previous reviews as they're obviously fake. 0 stars if I could rate it with none! read more

I was treated in the most appalling, unprofessional and rude way by the manageress/owner of Pampering Palace who refused, for no apparent reason, to honour my Groupon voucher. I had travelled an hour and a half to get there. She made up all sorts of excuses, none of which held any water. One excuse she gave, for example, is that I didn't call soon enough after buying the deal. But basically I couldn't get through. Their phone lines were permanently jammed, possibly because they hadn't accounted for the level of interest, and couldn't handle the new business, and had taken their phones off the hook. When I did get through on the phone in September, the owner, in her 60s, told me she was going on holiday, asked me the colour of my skin and said I should wait until she came back from holiday so I could see her only, and not anyone else. So to be accused of lateness was astonishing. Basically the salon clearly did not wish to honour the laser hair removal deal they signed up to with Groupon, and this was their way of getting rid of one unwanted customer. The same woman also contradicted information I had been given over the phone by her daughter. I had no choice but to leave within minutes of arriving, to travel another hourand a half back home. I was extremely upset. The manageress clearly did not care and just told me to get my refund from Groupon as I went out the door. Things just got worse because when I asked Groupon for the refund they said the voucher had already been redeemed. This was because the manageress called Groupon to redeem voucher before refusing the treatment. It took me a month to get my refund. Although the salon is advertised as Chiswick, it is located in the backwater of Stamford Brook. The salon itself looks like a hospital ward. If Pampering Palace's customer service is so appalling, I feel fortunate they didn't actually treat me for laser hair removal. They could have done lasting damage. My advice to anyone thinking of going there is to keep away from this cowboy outfit who will ditch you if it doesn't suit them and who can't honour their deals. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I called the mobile number left on my groupon voucher on Xmas eve to ask what date and time a made a booking for my parents for Xmas. She went silent and said "it's Christmas Eve..what place is open?" I said that the website still stated it was open until 6. Also, I was at work.. As well as multiple friends. Xmas eve is still seen as a day to work. After asking why she was so rude she hung up the phone. I texted her saying I will complain to the manager for bad customer service and she said "please do so..by the way I'm the owner have a nice Xmas" she also stated that I "need to know that people have private and social lives" and that when nobody answered the landline it should've explained. Absolutely disgusting. I will be complaining to groupon and getting a refund. Disgusting woman. Vile. Her mouth should be washed out with soap! read more

Terrible place. Not only is the customer service poor to the point of rude and aggressive, but the 'hairstylists' appear to have had no training whatsoever. My cut was extremely poor, crooked and messy. I have never had such a bad cut ever! I was forced to go to another salon 3 weeks later just to have it fixed as much as I could. I got a deal through groupon and was glad when I finally got an appointment to do my mani pedi. Sat down and had an average mani. Ok, cool. Pedi time. I was made to wait while a full fare customer was attended to by my attending!! Every time I asked what the delay was, I was told 'she'll be a while'. And then when she finally came back, she simply washed the feet instead of proper pedicure. By that time I was totally fed up anyway and just wanted to go. Another full-paying customer came in while she was trying to finish me off, who didn't previously have an appointment. The meant she just rushed thru my pedi to get rid of me. Made me wonder, it took forever to get an appointment and even then it got changed around twice. Only for someone who didn't have an appointment to just come in!! Never been back and not sure I will. I went there with 4 of my friends for my hen night, and it was absolutely amazing. We all had the Hamam treatment, which was the highlight of my day, then we had our nails done. The owner is a lovely lady. I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

I'm not unfamiliar with the world of beauty treatments and spa experiences. I decided to take up a deal on groupon with this company. To begin with it was very difficult to make an appointment as the phone was rarely answered, and when they did they repeatedly told me to call back later. When I was finally able to make an appointment I was utterly disappointed. The staff were the rudest I've come across in a long time-their phone manner is dispicable. They shouted down the phone at me when I kept them on the phone asking for information, they implied that I wasn't intelligent, and to top it all off they put the phone down on me mid sentence. It is called a palace, but unfortunately is only masquerading-it is dingy, with poor customer service, attention to detail and the rudest staff I have ever had the misfortune to meet. After reading some mixed reviews, I didn't know what to expect. But as soon as I walked in, I was blown away. The staff are very friendly. Then there I went into the Turkish bath, the whole experience was amazing, the girl who did my Turkish bath was really nice and attentive, I was given a traditional tea and traditional sweets. I was offered a Turkish bath experience for Christmas at Pampering Palace in Chiswick which I booked in March. Relatively happy with the experience in terms of how relaxing and invigorating it was, I decided to book one for my daughter so before leaving that day I booked and paid (was asked for cash preferably!!) for one and was given a card stating the date and the fact I paid for it. I subsequently went back a week later to book for a 2nd person as my daughter wanted to go with her husband. I paid for it by cash again and was given another card stating the date and "paid". I gave both these cards to my daughter as a present. Came the day of the booking, they went to have a relaxing experience (they just had twins babies). Everything went well until the moment when they left when they were asked for payment. I was looking after their baby twins when I received a call from my son in law stating that the lady there was requesting money and said the lady wanted to talk to mer. She argued over the fact that the 2nd treatment had not been paid for. I mentioned that not only was I given a card showing the date of the treatment and marked "paid" but also the booking was also mentioned on their book at reception. She started calling me darling, stating that the handwriting on the cards were not the same to which I said of course as the bookings were done on 2 different day by 2 different employees!! She then said it was impossible as she could not match the handwriting to her employees.... My daughter could see the book and the 2 different bookings on it, showing it was done on 2 different dates and the word paid for each of the occasion. The manager/owner was having none of it!! My daughter knowing full well that I paid, left the premises. What was supposed to be a relaxing experience ended up in a stressful situation for them and an embarrassment for me. I don't know what happened to the payments I made in cash but maybe the owner should not wish so much for cash payment at least she wouldn't be able to argue with customers' that payment was not made. I have never been treated worse in my entire life. The manager/ staff were all extremely rude to my friend and I. We bought a voucher which made them very reluctant to provide a service for us. They gave me an appointment when I thought I do not have a voucher and when told them that I do, they said we are booked for two weeks ahead !! When we inquired how this is possible when we were told 30 seconds ago that they were available for a Turkish hamam, they said that the customers without vouchers are a priority !! Then, they promised to call us back three times in order to give us an appointment but they did not contact us. They rescheduled three times because of the same 'voucher' problem. Then they called to say that we have to pay a fine because we missed a scheduled appointment ( when no appointment was given). We asked to talk to the manager because it is unfair that we pay a fine for a mistake they made. The manager was extremely rude and said she will call later. We said: sorry we really need to sort out this problem first. She hung up anyway. We called again saying that it is rude to hang up on a customer. She said we can throw away our vouchers and she does not want us in her spa. I will not recommend it for people with vouchers and a bit of self-respect. read more

I have been coming to Pampering Place for about a year now but thought I should write a review today as I had such a memorable experience. First I had a half head of highlights and a cut and then because I felt like treating myself I thought I would try a facial, after some stressful weeks at work. Well, the highlights were amazing and I was really looked after, tea, chocolates and all round great service. Then, the facial, ahhhh i was so relaxed, lovely surroundings and I have to admit when the face mask went on and the lights were dimmed I actually relaxed so much, I fell asleep! It was just what I needed! All in all the experience from start to finish was brilliant and from the hairdresser and beauticain who looked after me so well, even the receptionist was bright and bubbly and made me feel right at home! I will definately continue to go back there and I will definately consider other treatments in the future. Top notch! read more
