Pan de Manila stores are now ubiquitous in Manila, and I completely understand why. They serve really good but very very affordable bread, from the simple but always satisfying pan de sal, to the more fancy cheese-and-butter loaded ensaymadas, their bread always hits the spot. But what really draws me in is that they don't just sell good bread. They have chillers inside the store where you will find amazing dips and spreads such as their own herbed butter, and fresh soy milk of different flavors. They also make their own super yummy peanut butter which rivals a super yummy super oily local one that shall not be named, and bottles of spiced fish that's ready to eat -- you can stuff them into the pa de sals or enjoy with rice. And last --but certainly not the least among the reasons why this franchise is such a hit -- they sell instant hot chocolate that is not bad at all. If you haven't been to a Pan de Manila or have not ben visited one lately, try and find one near you. read more
