I had the most frustrating experience trying to schedule an appointment here. Nobody answered the phone, which is understandable in a small salon, but after leaving a few voicemails over the course of a week (detailed with my name, number, and service requested) I never received a call back. I went on their website where I saw they accept walk-ins- great! So I stopped by one weekday afternoon and saw a big sign on the front door that also indicated walk-ins were welcome. Upon entering the salon, I noticed it was totally dead. This was during peak COVID, and a stylist came out from the back not wearing a mask. I asked if she had time for a walk-in haircut, but she said no. Okay, how about a quick bang trim? Still no, due to COVID restrictions, she said. Well can I book an appointment for now? Still no. I was a bit irritated that I had wasted my time stopping in for a service that was no longer available. I politely suggested that if their policy was to refuse all walk-ins, they should remove the "walk-ins welcome" signage from their website and door. I was rudely told that "COVID will be over soon" so there was no need to update the signage. Uhm, well....it's many months later we're just now seeing restrictions loosened. Her attitude was very dismissive. Also, if you're going to blame COVID for refusing to accommodate new customers, how about you wear a freakin' mask?! Very unwelcoming and unprofessional.

This salon is incredibly comfortable, tasteful, and the owner caters to your every need. This in addition to giving exceptional service. First of all, it's not downtown. Not that downtown Astoria isn't awesome, but the parking sucks! At this place there are clearly marked parking spaces OFF-STREET right in front of the salon. That rules. Also, there's a ramp for peeps with wheelchairs and the salon is ADA accessible. Pretty important in a retiree town, no? Then there is a huge variety of refreshments from Spring water and tea, to ice cold soda, Peet's Coffee made in K-Cup and then - a glass of cold Pinot Grigio wine or a Corona! Sweet! A free beer while I'm being pampered makes it that much better! Oh! I didn't mention the like, 10 different kinds of chairs for people who have different back needs; plus ottomans to put my feet up! Now we get down to the services. Top notch Haircutting and Coloring. Caitlin really takes her time and LISTENS to what I say. I have fine, fragile hair and if you cut off half an inch too much I am screwed for like 3 months. This has never happened. She has fine hair herself so she gets it. Then there's the Nails. I was REALLY hesitant because that chick was there and her review were awful. But she's been gone since February and now Caitlin is doing MAnis & Peds. I trust her with my hair, so I thought I'd give her a try. OMG, Best Pedi EVER! The room is seperate and so gorgeous the Spa chair is super chill and has a heater and massager! But the way she does the pedicures is just so...THOROUGH! No rough spots are left, no sharp edges, the polish lasts forever and she has great colors to choose from. FORGET ABOUT THE CHICK that was there. Caitlin is awesome at Pedis and I assume that carries over to Manis. I'm also thrilled that there aren't acrylics being applied anymore. Those fumes were bad if you walked into them. Oh! and now there's a SEAMSTRESS available! Super sweet. I'm bringing in some stuff to be hemmed. Her name is Judy and she seems like a real doll. OK, so why not 4 stars? To be fair, it can be tough to get a hold of the owner. Granted, she's a one-woman show - a classy one-woman show, but that part kind of sucks. Also, she doesn't do mornings. Like unless it's a total emergency. It's just kind of inconvenient sometimes. Sorry, but it's the truth! On the flip side - she stays LATE! So really I guess it's about which is more important to you. Need to come in after work? Consider this a 5 star review, then. Anyway, this place is real find for people looking for that hairstylist they want to go to for the rest of their lives. She's not going anywhere and things just keep getting better. Peace! read more

Hey. This is my first review so give me a break. I've been going to Panache since she (Caitlin) opened her first salon in Cannon Beach. I have really tough hair to cut as it's very thick and loaded with cowlicks. I'm a guy, by the way. I've had many stylists who left the cowlicks long apparently in order to tame them down. That doesn't work, just so you know. Caitlin cut my hair so that when I style it, which I do every day, it all looks even and there aren't any weird parts sticking up. She can fade it down to nothing or leave a decent amount of hair at the hairline - whichever I'm in the mood for. I like barbershops as much as the next guy, but I have to say, of all the salons she's had, this one is the best. It's very private and just..nice. there is this one chair that is so comfortable I kind of hope she'll be running a little late so I can soak up some sun and nap with the cold Corona she always offers me for free. Sweet! I feel like I'm in someone's living room more than a salon. I know she does clippercuts on dry hair for guys for $15, but my hair needs the real deal. A good shampoo, a great cut, and a great style. I get all that plus Red Vines! I also recommended my wife and daughter giver her a try and they've been thrilled, but that's their story to tell. I've been going to Caitlin for 7 years now ever since my Mom dragged me to go with her. I had never had a good haircut and I was only 15 the first time I went in. I have long, thick, somewhat wavy hair and no one could seem to make it look good. So let me be clear: CAITLIN IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO MAKES IT SO THAT MY HAIR DOESN'T SUCK!!! I don't understand how it all works, why other stylists don't get it, but now I'm in college on the other side of the country and I still wait til I get home so that I can be sure of a Caitlin-quality cut. In addition, her salon is tres fabulous! Very comfy so that now when all 3 of us go in (me, my Mom, and now even my little brother) we can all be comfortable and have snacks and soda while waiting for our turns. She colors my Mom's hair an awesome shade of red, cuts my brother (a short clipper cut with style) while Mom processes, then cuts her long-layered straight hair, and finally mine. It turns what could be an absolutely boring time into quality family time as we all have a great time chatting together. Also, there are always Red Vines! Can't recommend Caitlin highly enough. read more

Caitlin just finished giving me the best pedicure ever. I have neuropathy in my feet and she was absolutely gentle as could be. She massaged my feet and calves which totally relaxed my body. Parking is always easy as there are designated spots. And Caitlin gives great haircuts too. She has rescued my family from a couple of bad cuts from other hairdressers. She cuts mine too and does a fabulous job. Her prices are compatable with the industry- and do remember, you get what you pay for. Caitlin is worth every dollar. read more

Well, If you are looking for braids. Caitlin does ethnic braided Hair. She has step in to the future diversity. I get the croquette single braids. I love them. I am excited to say " Caitlin takes her time, detail my parts." She does traditional single braids as well. Speed is not everything. If you have the time you will be pleased.
