This was our first time in Mazatlán and knew Panamá was a restaurant I couldn't leave without trying. We saw one a few blocks from our hotel, so we dropped off our luggage, changed and headed out for Brunch. The place is so cozy. It had some Mexican decor, but maybe it was because Mexican Independance Day was just a few days away, either way it was adorable. Aside the restaurant there is a bakery, which I believe is how they started off. The bakery has everything from cakes to pan dulce, YUM!! I had Café de Olla and Chilaquiles Rojos, which were served with grilled Chicken and Beans. I added scrambled eggs, but they really weren't needed. Probably the best Chilaquiles I have ever had. Everything was so savory. I do have to rant about the sauce on the Chilaquiles. Wow, what flavor!!! Absolutely delicious!!! We tried to go again on a different day, but went at a peak time and the wait time was longer than we were willing to wait. So, we got coffee and pan dulce to go. The service here is also very good. They definitely run a tight operation. Almost too rigid, but for the Chilaquiles, I would come back over and over. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to come back, but if you are ever in Mazatlán, you have to try this place. read more

Every time I come to Mazatlán my family and I make sure to come to Panama at least one time out of our stay. It feels kind of like IHOP or Dennys but with Mexican food. It has a very home-y feel to it. We all had cafe de ollas and sisters had coco horchatas, they had very cool looking kids drinks but they are pure sugar so we skipped out on those lol My picky Toddler had pizza with spaghetti and sopa de fideo and he devoured the whole thing. My sisters and I shared sopes, taquitos and chilaquiles and everything was really good. Wish there was one in LA! This place is very popular. We walked over from our hotel on a Saturday morning after my daughter's soccer game. We are here from the US on a soccer tournament and have been trying all different types of food. There was a line to have our name written down, we were then instructed to go across the street and wait in the lot for them to call us. Once they did, we went inside and had to wait for about 5 more minutes. They sat us upstairs. Th service was quick and attentive. We had so many options to choose from but we had the tacos sabochos, huevos divorciados, chilaquiles patrios, and my children had the chicken fingers. We had cafe de olla, my daughter ordered the gummy drink and my son the blueberry lemonade drink. Everything was so delicious and best of all reasonably priced. read more

It reminds me a bit of Dennys back in the us. We came on Xmas eve and it was packed. They have an English menu but Spanish helps a lot. The desert cart is nice with the chocolate cake the winner. Service is a friendly and this is a good place for young kids. read more

Speaking Spanish definitely helped at this place. Mostly a local place. Service was fine. My chilaquiles was very good. Wife liked her machaca. Daughter ordered the Swiss enchiladas and the sauce tasted a little off. Pastry's looked good. I had an empanada to go and it was tasty. read more

So to start off this review, this place is NOT a Mexican Cheesecake Factory like other reviews have stated, not even close. More like a Mexican Denny's or Baker's Square with a much more extensive menu. My family stopped by for just coffee and to sample their desserts. We tried the Strawberry Cheesecake, Guava Cream Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie. All of us thought the desserts were so, so. We liked the Cheesecake the best and probably the Guava was the least liked. It was interesting and unique, I will give it that. The pies themselves reminded me of a Bakers Square or Denny's quality, not in any way close to what fancier restaurants in the states served. The staff were hustling and bustling everywhere. This place is full of locals celebrating birthdays, meeting up for family dinner, etc. so it was a very lively place. It was hard to get good service because this place was busy around 8:00 pm at night but we just rolled with it. Prices were very reasonable and not bad. OK place if you are looking for a large menu with good prices, just don't expect Cheesecake Factory quality or atmosphere. read more

You cannot go wrong with Panama, variety in the selection makes sure everyone on the table gets some they want. However, I've experienced throughout the years a decay in their delicious meals. Always a huge crowd every time we came by here the whole week we were in Mazatlan. We didn't dine in, but did pick up some sweet bread. The process is a little different. You pick out your bread and then hand it to Lady 1 who writes your order down and packs it up while you transition over to Lady 2 and pay. Then you take your receipt to Lady 1 who scribbles on it and gives you your bread. They take credit cards which is a plus. This place is great. This is a good place, it's like a Mexican version of a Coco's or Norms with a better bakery section. You got your Mexican favorites as well your basic diner food. Only four stars because as good as they are, their coffee is the worst! Just get orange juice or a coke, skip the coffee and you'll be happy. First off the staff are very polite and helpful. With my lack of Spanish (bf speaks but i don't) and their English we figured it out. The food was delicious. Hands down delicious. The orange juice was so fresh it was frothed and the avocados were so buttery. Had to make a stop here since this place is very well known.....always have to start my day with breakfast so was excited to check this place out. Breakfast served until 1pm...thank goodness we arrived at 12:50!!! Breakfast menu is extensive, so that was good! Food was good, nothing too crazy delicious...but then again, it is really is a bakery....so was looking forward to trying their very famous "pay de guayaba"....it was good and their "cafe de olla" too. Service was great, Katia was very friendly and helpful. She even went to find out answers to questions we had about food and desserts. It's a NO for me. I am seriously so glad we did not wait in the morning rush to eat here. Came on a Monday night for dinner and I was wondering what the hype was about. Everyone said "you have to go to Panama it's worth the wait" hell no. And I'm solely reviewing this one's n our dishes we ordered. The fettuccine ....... Was horrible. The enchiladas were a joke. The service was okay and maybe it was just the night we went on but I felt like it was a jungle in there kids running wild parents being loud .... And I love Loud but I was not feeling it. The wait is comparable to Porto's in the U.S. . I guess I'm being a little harsh because my husband can throw down in the kitchen and this was just not it. Food is bland. I have spent one week of vacation here in Mazatlán. During this time, we have had meals here approx 5 times. Lunch once and the rest breakfast. This place is very cheap, home made, authentic and delicious. The food is so delicious that we were afraid to venture out (my mom is a ridiculously picky eater). We are a family of 6, it was affordable and always, always, on point. It never disappointed. Additionally, you should know this place is a 5 star bakery. You can find sweet bread, and all sorts of cakes and pies. Try the guayaba pie. It's to die for. The sweet bread is very cheap, home made and delicious. If I had to compare this place to something back home it would be the black bear diner. All in all, you shouldn't leave Mazatlán without trying this place.
