I think this was the first breakfast restaurant I had walked into and there wasn't a wait where I felt like a sardine in a can. There was no wait, we were seated immediately amongst the decor that was breakfast themed and very comfortable which was made so with the coffee refills coming as fast as I could sip it down. I always appreciate my coffee being refilled without me having to ask. The server was new and did and absolute solid job. If I were to ever open a restaurant or bar, I would have to hire her. She was very attentive and took notice of things I didn't have to ask for. The menu was full of many options including healthy choices. There is a creative drink menu including Mimosas with a few different options for bottomless. The food was brought out quickly and was as good as it looks in the pics. There is always a need for a breakfast place that doesn't have a wait and maybe it was because of the time we went which was late morning but not having to wait will definitely help to bring me back, as will the service.

mary at front counter shari owner waitress ( 32 years ) all extremely friendly and sociable , cozy ambience ordered the large baked apple pancake and thick-sliced bacon THUMBS UP ON APPLE PANCAKE AND THE THICK SLICED BACON also great hot java with real cream

Dry and over cooked. Probably the worst pancakes I've had.

We went here spontaneously. They sat us at a table that wasn't supposed to be there. Right next to the bathroom and in the way of servers having to walk past the back of my husbands chair. There were other tables open but we weren't sat there and I didn't speak up because it took me a couple of mins to realize how uncomfortable this spot was. The pancakes tasted like cardboard. I can't believe the name of this spot is pancake cafe!!!! They were dry as hell. I have the pics to prove. My husbands bacon was good because he asked for it well done. My bacon was extra thick but also extra greasy. The one thing I can say is the service was really good. I'd never go back. Ever! The service was good and I do appreciate that.

Note the chunks of veggies instead of a smaller dice in the omelet. Also good salsa.

It feels like this place is very undersold. They spent a decent amount of money on making the interior cozy and warm but next to nothing on the exterior. Maybe they should think about adding an adjective to the name; for instance "Mom's Pancake Cafe". It portrays pride of ownership which currently is missed unless one walks through the door. Now on to the good stuff! It Is very homey and inviting when you enter. The booths are clean and no worn down or ripped upholstery. The staff were very attentive and friendly. My hostess greeted and sat me immediately. She checked to see if I had any immediate needs as well. My waitress was also nice. She checked on me to refill my coffee at least twice more than she absolutely needed to. She was on point. The food was good. No skillets, scrambles on the menu FYI. It did however have both the big German pancake and the smaller Dutch baby. Which are not common finds. The omelet choices are pretty basic so I ordered what I really wanted and they accommodated me in good spirits. The coffee was okay but the cups were small. My omelette was better than I expected. The chunks of veggies and good amount of cheese were a welcome touch. The slices of sausage were a bit too large however. The different texture added more mouth appeal and interest for me. The salsa was also a surprise. It was far better than at most breakfast restaurants I've been to. I had an all-around good experience and would return myself. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try. I don't agree with a three plus star rating. It's a soIid four star from me. Also I think with a few small changes this could be a five star experience every time.

The waitstaff is always fantastic. The fries are so good. We usually get burgers. Today we tried the Cuban and the taffy salad is wonderfully! The fish/cod is always good since it has the tartar sauce. The restaurant is nice and quiet.

Another exceptional experience! Spinach crepes and potato pancakes! Love them both and love that I don't have to choose between them!

Food was mediocre at best. The prices were high for the quality of the food. Many better options elsewhere. Steer clear!

This is our 2nd time here and once again the service was spectacular…read more Our waitress was very attentive and Friendly also. We sat in a corner booth area which was perfect for us because we have a very active 1 year old plus diaper bag, car seat etc.. it was spacious and perfect for our size family. The food was very very tasty! I will include pictures in my review so you can see for yourselves. My daughter said her pancake and eggs were so fluffy and delicious ^-^ and her bacon the perfect crispness. My chilaquiles were the perfect amount of mild spiciness. I am glad I chose the red sauce over the green because they were Delicious!! They come with a side of rice and beans that tasted very authentic also. The avocado was the perfect ripeness and so creamy! My husband's house potatoes and biscuits and gravy were also great. He really liked the gravy and asked for a side of it because he likes extra gravy on his biscuits. We also ordered the Nutella crepes and they tasted pretty good. They had a hint of cinnamon in the crepe mix so keep that in mind, next time I think we will ask to exclude it now that we know. Still they were very good We will for sure be back again!

This place was okay…read more The side of pancakes were good. Soft and fluffy I got the house burrito with egg whites and was not a fan. Very bland. My husband got the steak skillet. I would recommend getting this without potatoes they were under cooked and very hard.

3.5 stars, but rounded up because I didn't feel they deserved any deduction…read more I was REALLY looking forward to their #20 Old New Yorker, which I got in their Navel Cut pastrami. It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.

Lots of fun deli sandwiches to choose from. I chose a French Dip; hubby had a pick two-- a cup of matzo ball soup, and 1/2 corned beef sandwich. Both served with a whole new pickle. Mine was absolutely delicious. Tons of beef, melty swiss, and grilled onion. Served nice and hot with a tasty au jus. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his as well. Great Jewish deli. Highly recommend whether you're Jewish or not! ;)
