Located outside of central Haarlem, it has beautiful views of the canal/river where you can people watch if you are lucky enough. Sadly I was there when it was freezing cold, so not many were out on the water, but I can see this as a popular spot during the warmer part of the years. They do offer some great brunch and lunch options, but I was set on a warm latte drink at 8:00 in the morning! The employee who was working was wonderful and went through their entire menu with me as I was unsure of some of the options to choose from. Price wise, very cheap compared to nearby Amsterdam, space wise, very ample, but could see it getting busy due to its location. All and all, a solid five star in my opinion!

Dutch weddings are quite different from American ones.In the Netherlands, it is common to be invited to just one portion of a wedding... a pre-reception or the ceremony itself or the family dinner afterwards, for example. All of our guests were invited from beginning to end. I'm not clear how Vergulden Eenhoorn managed their staff but this 12 hour event flowed seamlessly from one end of the 1700s farm to the other and they kept us moving from one attractive space to another. The food was INCREDIBLE, cooked to perfection and served family style. Appetizers: Jamon Iberico, fresh steamed giant artichokes, fried soft shell crabs and more.
