My daughter and her Dutch boyfriend and partner of 3 years exchanged vows here one week ago. The event began at 4pm and ended about 12 hours later. I was determined to enjoy myself and help others to as well - no matter what happened - but I hadn't expected to enjoy and love every single minute and detail of the experience. In the realm of five stars, Vergulden Eenhorn delivered on every level and if I could give them a PLUS in addition to the five stars, I would.
Dutch weddings are quite different from American ones.In the Netherlands, it is common to be invited to just one portion of a wedding... a pre-reception or the ceremony itself or the family dinner afterwards, for example.
All of our guests were invited from beginning to end. I'm not clear how Vergulden Eenhoorn managed their staff but this 12 hour event flowed seamlessly from one end of the 1700s farm to the other and they kept us moving from one attractive space to another.
The food was INCREDIBLE, cooked to perfection and served family style.
Appetizers: Jamon Iberico, fresh steamed giant artichokes, fried soft shell crabs and more.
Main courses: Bone-in prime rib served with Bearnaise sauce; whole sea bass; green salad.
Over a dozen cakes (maybe more?).
In the wee hours... gorgeous sliders and fries.
Thanks to the management and the entire staff... That was my favorite wedding party ever. read more
