We walked every aisle; they have good products on display. I picked up a sturdy, colorful medicine container and my friend found an umbrella, ramekins, salt and pepper jars at an affordable price. I saw some good silver wares that I am planning to come back to buy (if they will still be there). The aisles are pretty neat, shelves are stocked, and employees are welcoming. Parking is plenty and free. Only thing to note: I didn't see a public restroom though. It was a good shopping trip.

Vons next door ran out of butcher's twine and I didn't feel like driving around Glendale looking for it; the clerk at the market suggested I stop by DK. Dollar King is like a bootleg "Dollar Tree", but this place has more interesting stuff. They are a discount store that has Arts & Crafts, Party Supplies, Kitchen Accessories, Electrical Gadgets, Office Supplies and more.... I was pleasantly surprised. I personally dig the spice section. Lots of Goya and Sadaf brands spices. I walked outta here with a bunch of spices for my pantry, kids party supplies; and I did find that butcher's or kitchen twine I originally came for, lol. Cool store. I'll be back.

Then when he was ready to pay she did not help me. I didn't like that and another lady said same thing she was very mean and her face expressions were horrible as a cashier. Upper management this is unbeatable to treat customers like this shame on the cashier. Horrible.

My only complaint is - they have a good size parking lot in back but to get in, you go down a long driveway that won't fit one car in each direction. So if you're going in and out and someone comes the other way, someone has to back up to let the other go in/out. If some idiot comes flying in the other direction, make sure you have your insurance card handy.

The merchandise doesn't seem to have changed though the shop name and sign have changed. Most of the shop has kitchen/housewares, including tea kettles, mugs, glasses, canisters, cutting boards, things that looked like crystal but were to cheap to be crystal, serving trays, etc. There were lots of vases. You can get hookahs too. Prices were cheap but not dollar store cheap. For example, you could get three clear drinking glasses for $1.99. I can't say that the designs appealed to me but I'm not the target market.

HOW have I gone this long without reviewing Smarty's!?!?!…read more My daughter and I are Art's biggest fans. Every Thursday (which is when Art gets in his pallets of new inventory), she says to me "Happy Smarty's Day!" You just never know what you are going to find here. We have gotten the following items in the past year or two: a brand new Samsung dishwasher (a model that had only been on the market for five months, new in the box for over $700 off retail price!), a Ninja Creamy ice cream machine, Instant Pot lid that turns it into an air fryer, Dyson and Shark vacuum cleaners for hundreds off list price, deck boxes and hose reels for the backyard, a new microwave, an amazing array of plastic storage bins in all sizes for the garage/storage locker...and that's just off the top of my head! Going to Smarty's is our weekly treasure hunt. More than once, my daughter has bemoaned that she bought something elsewhere only to find it later at Smarty's for a fraction of the price. On the rare occasion that something we bought ended up damaged after we opened the box (which does happen from time to time, given the nature of the business of buying pallets of stuff from Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.), Art has always made good and given us a full refund. I am almost loathe to tell people about this store because I want to keep these amazing, secret deals all to myself, but I also want Art to stay in business forever. Thanks, Art! They try to offer items priced $5 and lower... I just wanted to look. I parked across the street in the free parking structure and went up the escalator to the second floor. Wow... what a variety of goods: Halloween decorations, books, dorm supplies, hair accessories, costume jewelry, headphones, pet supplies, clothing, and Hello Kitty items such as socks, ukulele, key chains, water bottles, and rubber duckies dressed in Sanrio character costumes! Usually short staffed but the cashiers are always fast, friendly and multitasking by answering the phone, so cut them some slack. Watch out for the impulse buys at the register while you wait!

Then he hands me my receipt and I say "thank you!" No response again just ignores me but he smiles and greets the next customer who happens to be Armenian. Wondering if he's just rude to brown customers.
