Shopping in Glendale, California... My friend, Mikey (from Ventura), often posts cute Hello Kitty merchandise from Five Below. This store is a chain that we don't have in Hawaii. They try to offer items priced $5 and lower... I just wanted to look. I parked across the street in the free parking structure and went up the escalator to the second floor. Wow... what a variety of goods: Halloween decorations, books, dorm supplies, hair accessories, costume jewelry, headphones, pet supplies, clothing, and Hello Kitty items such as socks, ukulele, key chains, water bottles, and rubber duckies dressed in Sanrio character costumes! I really like Five Below and tonight was my first time visiting this location. I specifically came to this location to get some trading cards. I was running really late and got a bit lost trying to find the store. I thought it was inside the Glendale Galleria, but they are actually on the corner of Broadway and Brand on the 2nd floor above Ross. They were closing at 8pm and I called them at 7:59pm to ask if they can wait for me. The staff I spoke to gave the phone to her manager and the manager agreed to wait for me and was kind enough to give me directions to the store. I got to the store and was welcomed with positive vibes. I didn't feel rush at all. I went straight to the counter to get the items I wanted. First time coming here. Came to purchase a few organizational items. But I had strange encounters with the workers here. I was at the check-out line waiting and the cashier ignored me and said she can help somebody else that was behind me. She then acknowledge me and said to me, "the line is over there " pointing along a narrow path. I didn't know the line started there but I waited my turn. No one told me to back up or wait at a certain spot. There were 3 people in front of me, all standing behind with distance and I did the exact same thing. She didn't have an issue with them but when it's my turn she then has an issue? I was at the check- out counter she looks at the person in her periphery and says "I can help you here". I told her "I have been waiting before him in line" and she still wanted to help him first. I just said "whatever, help him first" because I didn't want to start a fight. I also needed help finding certain items and no one was around until I found somebody and interrupted her walk and was about to ask for help but she began the conversation with "I have money in my hands and cannot help unless it's something quick." I asked her where can I find my item and carried on. But I found that strange. If you have money in your hands, you can put it in a pouch wallet or your pocket? I hope their customer service improves. read more

This branch has a wide selection of sweets (both candies and chocolates), snacks, home decors, and toys. This branch is clean and items are well-organized. I recently walked in to purchase a water bottle at 1:30pm and overheard the store manager speaking to her employee in a very demeaning and horrible way. I dont know if she had a bad day or what but seeing and hearing that was appalling and disgusting. She must not been managing for long since she does not understand bullying and harassment laws. When i asked the clerk if thats the manager, she seemed scared of telling me yes. I hope this changes or that store will be facing harassment and bullying lawsuits. read more

This is the most organized well displayed Five Below I have ever been to. The manager, Denise Sifuentes, is absolutely wonderful and so welcoming. One of my favorites stores ever! There are so many things you can find here for $5 or less from shirts with funny sayings, snacks, electronics, popular toys, candies, jewelry, excercise equipment, make up, knick knacks, and all in between. I can spend hours in here and I still can't get enough! I recently found out they have stuff for cleansing your space (sage, palo santo etc) and your lunar rituals (candles & crystals) if you're into that. They even have books explaining it all. They have great selections on phone cases and cheap ear phones... my dad is always losing or ruin them lol. So it's good to have cheap options for back up at home. I saw many variety on spicy noodle soups as well. I'm telling you this stores has it all so you really want to come and explore it... you never know what you may find! We bought a chocolate advent calendar. The chocolate was stale and white. So gross. My poor kid ate a couple and had to toss them out.

I bought two things at this store - car tire lights and a bracelet for charging your IPhone. 3 of the lights for the car didn't work out of the box and the bracelet falls off because it has no locking mechanism. I am sure I can return the items but what's the point as it will cost me more in gas to go back. I like the store and the concept but the quality is terrible. read more

I do enjoy coming in the store and just finding items while I make time to get my ride home from work. Today though I'm disappointed. Purchase a phone case and cat toys while at checkout they had donation which by all means do what you can after 4 times (of being ask different dollar amounts) at this particular time I declined, to which the cashier said ok. Only to notice the machine ring a donation really quickly while tried to just stuff my receipt in the which was in my hand. The reason for this is she typed in a donation for under my transaction. This was a sneaky tactic and I'm not happy with something I politely declined to be added as I wouldn't notice later. So this is not a huge deal but if this is the tactic your employee is doing it means multiple times a day which is a problem. read more

I continue to be pleasantly surprised at the $5 finds in this place! I love their selection of graphic t-shirts, tons of cool designs for $5. They also carry perfumes inspired by designer or celebrity fragrances and I was shocked at how great these actually smell! They also gave a pretty big candy section with all different types of candies you don't always find in grocery or dept. stores. There are constant reminders that play between songs (on the store radio) to remain masked and social distances in consideration of the pandemic - even though people aren't always so obliged to give you 6', I appreciate the reminders. The employees are nice also-- even though the associate was almost sure what I wanted wasn't in back stock he still offered to check for me. And when I was leaving one of my purchases fell out of my bag and broke and the associate just swapped it without a problem. All in all it's a pretty neat store and you never know what you may find- toys, holiday items, clothes, books - $5! read more

Who doesn't love Five Below?! Trust me it's better than the 99 cent store. There is free parking across the street at the Galleria where you can simply walk over. There is also a structure behind Five Below that is 90 minutes free. You name it this place has it. Obviously the items are not amazing quality but it is a bang for your buck. Merchandise can alternate I mean I found PS4 and Xbox games here for 5$. I bought 100 Christmas present labels for 50 cents (Christmas is currently 50% off). This store is perfect for little gifts. They have workout clothes, yoga mats, toys, arts & crafts stuff, pet items, electronic section, literally almost everything you can dream up which amazes me because this is just simply a cool bargain store. The second I stepped in I was greeted by Rudy with a bright energetic "hello, welcome" I then proceeded to shop and towards the back there was a gal that answered some questions (awesome) this is a rarity these days. I love bargain stores. Seriously. I LOVE them. However, due to inflation, it seems that our typical dollar store is finding it difficult to keep things at or under a buck these days. Modernization brings in "Five Below," an East Coast staple. This is a more current approach to the dollar store model, but keeping prices $5 and below. This also means they can offer more variety than dollar-oriented stores like t-shirts, home decor, etc. And despite their name - No, this isn't a winter store. I've been to this Five Below a couple times and have always been met with a healthy stock of awesome finds, friendly staff, and clean merchandising. It's a must visit for various technological finds such as charging cables for various brands of cell phones, headphones, bargain video games for PlayStation 4 and XBox One, educational books, and toys. My son loves it in here and I always leave after spending at least $60 ("Five Below" does not imply you'll spend less than $5 in a shopping trip here). The only downside to this location is it's upstairs in a shopping complex. For me and a bargain store, it's slightly irritating. But that's no fault of theirs. They do pretty good for as good as they do. read more

My first time at this location and I found what I was looking for. I give it 4-stars because the guy at the register was so mean to his co- worker. It was about to close like in 2 minutes and the lady holding the door was letting people know that the store was closing. The guy at the register literally raised his voice at her and corrected her saying that "we should not say that because technically it's not 7p!" She looked embarrassed and didn't know what to say. Pretty cool smallish store located on the 2nd floor of the Marketplace (across the way from LA Fitness). The customer service is pretty friendly, and there are lots of interesting, random, and sometimes useful things to purchase for 5 bucks or less. My friend got a giant bag of Haribo gummy bears and a 12 foot HDMI cable for $5. Might be a good spot for teachers or parents of young kids to hit up as well. Worth checking out at least once. I found the $5 shoes to be some of the best deals (they were actually super cute - pink and glittery :P). Parking is most convenient in the structure behind the Marketplace (the one used for Homegoods). read more

I LOVE this store! This has some really cool and unique items such as tabletop fountains and a ton of electronics, home supplies, clothing and an entire alcove devoted to CANDY! I love coming here around Christmas for stocking stuffers. My only complaint about this place is the wait time at the registers. Every time I go to check out, it takes an unusual amount of time to finally get to the counter; Regardless of whether there are 2 people or 8 you will be standing in line for at least 5 (not BELOW in this case!) minutes. Other than that, the staff is so incredibly friendly and recognize me when I come in. They are great on the phone if you're calling for a particular item and they do apologize for the wait times when you're in the store.. just a bit of a pet peeve.
